  1. I just finished reading all the new posts and it made me reach for the bottle.....again.......really drunk now.......I'm flying to Australia this weekend for some heads-up match play, I just hope I bring my 'A' game and my curved putting stroke so I don't get wopped.......whatever wopped means......If anyone cares to join maybe we could fly together and get a discount, I'm only a couple hours away from Detroit, hit up the casinos before we go, if its convenient with you guys......
  2. This could be way off, but try rotating your shoulders on a steeper plane, a swing thought might be to drop your left shoulder downward toward the ball during the backswing (not directly at the ball, but more downward than you are now). Sticking your rear end outward should also give an anchored/stable feeling during the backswing. Does your right knee stay flexed during your backswing or does it straighten? Is the video posted somewhere?
  3. Try to find 'Nike Thermal sleeves', they are two sleeves, should cover your arm from the edge of your glove to your bicep, no restriction whatsoever. You can wear a golf shirt or a turtle neck overtop. Should also try to find either Nike or Footjoy cold weather gloves, if they fit properly they are almost as good as your normal leather glove. Finish it off with some longjohns and a toque and you are all set for some cold weather golf. Played a few rounds in november before snow fall and it wasn't that bad.
  4. Is it boozy time in the Outback? cause seriously dude you just drove me to drink, don't care about curved putting strokes, now I want to know what "tear up tiger" means. Patiently drinking myself into a stupor, anxiously awaiting your reply, if the first few weren't top notch, what follows should be classic.
  5. 1) Your swing isn't crappy, you haven't been playing long enough to groove it, so it isn't comfortable. Use inconsistent instead of crappy, breaking par is not crappy. 2) You said "....I need to cock my wrists and I seem to be quite literally overdoing it" You are creating lag. Depending on who you talk to you can not have too much lag, more lag is more power. 3) You said "As a result I am unable to get the driver back to parrallel without bending my left arm...." Firstly, the driver does not need to reach parrallel, and secondly, a slight bend in the left arm will return to straight or extended by impact. This is due to the effect of centrifugal force, if you believe in centrifugal force... 4) You said "I frequently go past parallel though with this as I lose all sense of where the club finishes its arc when loading." You might already know this, but try squeezing the grip a little tighter with the last 2-3 fingers of your left hand (for a righty, the pinkie, ring and middle fingers). If there is one spot where the grip is 'tight' or 'firm', it is in these fingers and the edge of the palm, which secures the handle of the club (so you don't 'lose all sense of the club'). I believe #4 will help you successfully imitate the feeling you are searching for. 5) Like someone said earlier, a full length mirror can wonders for your game. 6) Relax and don't go crazy...if you are a legit 4 after 15 months then you are miles ahead of basically every single person who takes up this grand old game.....and if nothing i've said works out then enjoy the fact you played recently, I'm gonna shovel snow when I wake up tommorrow. Good luck, play well
  6. During your putting backswing, should you watch the putter moving backwards or stare at the ball? If you have ever read about this and can cite an article or instruction book I would find it helpful. All thoughts and comments welcome, but please no more Pelz vs. Utley arguments, not interested in path or face angles.
  7. To the guy who started this thread you owe me 5 minutes. After reading your post and everything that followed I will never get back the 5 minutes wasted on reading your so called 'tip'. To Bignose, there is a saying about advice falling on deaf........whatever, I don't want to get kicked out, you should ask for your 5 minutes back as well, i'm amazed you took the time to try and explain. If a moderator/staff reads this please take all posts off regarding this topic, there is an injustice to golf, common sense, and proper grammar taking place. Please do something about it, for the integrity of the site if nothing else.
  8. Excellent point. I was going to recommend to Maverick he go to Youtube and search "swing vision Zach Johnson". If Maverick does read this, please stop trying to attain a 'pretty' swing. If Zach Johnson doesn't have a pretty swing then Tiger would have a 5th green jacket. There are some swings on the champions tour that are not what you would refer to as pretty, but i'm sure they would give you and me both a sound whoopin. My only suggestion for swing improvement would be to worry less about positions and more about sequence (the order you move your body throughout the swing). good luck, play well.
  9. It can begin exactly once you reach the top, but for a more powerful move try shifting your weight before the club has completed the backswing. Some of the more modern instruction books will devote a chapter to the 'transition move', or starting the downswing with the lower body/hips while the club is still completing the backswing. You might also hear some refer to this as lag-loading, or causing a lag load. There are many different swing thoughts on how to accomplish this: As the club reaches the top of the swing-Greg Norman has said he pushes off his right foot, Tiger writes in his book of a lateral knee shift, depending on your swing type Jim Hardy would suggest two different moves, Harmon writes about a 'bump' or lateral shift of the hips, and Robert Baker(the O-factor guy) would insist on an upward turning motion of the left hip. I won't tell you exactly how to go about it, but if you can learn the timing of the motion, it will add power to your swing that simply wasn't there before. I apologize for my long-winded response but there is 6 inches of snow on the ground and I'm itching to hit some new spin-milled ......later
  10. 1. stop boozing on the course 2. stay up in the gym just a workin on my fitness 3. get back to scratch 4. stop losing so many Pro V1's (costly, especially when the booze gets involved).
  11. Pelz for me, straight back straight through on short putts, slight arc on longer putts, requires slight manipulation with hands and wrists, whatever feels 'natural' to the individual. I believe it depends on whether you're an open faced or shut faced player (I think Utley mentions this in his putting book, short game should copy or relate to your full swing). Regarding the Monty23 vs. the forum staff argument (this is what led me to joining, you guys have passion, and possibly too much time on your hands), poor monty, if you need to hear it from the horse's mouth then go to www.odysseygolf.com/en.PUTTING.PUTTINGTIPS.html (Eyes over the ball or behind the ball?), if you still think Phil is square to square, well.....good luck in life
