  1. Shot a 81 at the Phoenician today. Had four birdies with my new custom putter . Great day on the course. Would have been a lot better if I could have avoided the 8 on a par 4. Yikes. Gorgeous day here in Phoenix.
  2. Thanks for the link. Do you know anywhere for the +/- against their playing group?
  3. I was looking for a stat the other day and couldn't find it. It would be interesting to see a ranking of +/- in relation to the playing group. I just thought it would be cool to see who consistently beats their playing partners. For example, someone like Ken Duke may consistently beat his playing partners even though he doesn't win. Another stat I was looking for a breakdown on is the time of day the round was played. I was curious if there are guys out there who play better in the morning/afternoon. I know for me I consistently play better in the morning. Let me know if you guys know where these could be found. Just a couple of weird stats I was curious about.
  4. Had a very interesting round the other day. I was playing the Talking Stick South in Scottsdale. Got out to a decent start and shot a 38 on the front (birdie, double, bogey) and then went to the back. Something happened on the drive over from the front to the back because things immediately went haywire. My driver just completely fell off and came out with a nasty snap hook. Didn't get much better from there. Ended up shoot a 56 (had a quad bogey and several other disasters). I had never had a round just explode like that. I have attributed this blow up to playing too much. This was my 7 round in 6 days and I just hit a wall. This was one of the wilder experiences on a course for me. It is just crazy how your body can stop operating properly :) Curious if anyone else has had a round where you play to handicap and then drop nearly 20 strokes on the back. This is why we play the game.
  5. I wasn't doing this in lots of threads. I simply posted in two threads about custom putters- didn't realize it was an old thread because I used the search feature. I was not familiar with Edel but I checked the site out and they have some very cool stuff. I was surprised to see so many locations to get fit. There is one here in Scottsdale, I'll go check them out one of these days. Again, this wasn't a spam thing or anything like that. Moving forward I will be more aware of the date on the threads.
  6. Not sure if you already got your putter but I just picked one up from MannKrafted and oh man is it sweet. Here are a couple of the pics: All the putters are hand made and start a billet of steel. I have never felt a putter quite like this. Very good looking, very solid and the sweet spot is huge. My favorite thing about the putter is how consistent my speed is. I just have a ton of confidence with it. I like a forward press feel when I putt and LaMont created this Long Slope neck to get my hands in that position, the neck also helps balance the face for this bad boy- it weighs 368g so it is nice and heavy too.
  7. I have a couple of his putters and they are the only thing that ever goes in the bag. Let me know if you end up picking one up. They are sweet.
  8. Another great option is www.lamontmann.com. LaMont makes some incredible putters and is the only guy I know who will do totally custom because he starts with a billet of steel and not a cnc'd head. I would check him out though cause his prices are crazy low for the quality of the putters he hand makes. Hope that helps.
  9. Played Papago today. Played from the tips and shot an 81. I pulled two 3 footers and actually had a whiff on par 5 with a my 3wood. That's golf.
  10. When I started golfing a couple years ago I didn't know anyone who played. After about 10 rounds of going out as a single I was paired up with several good people. Now 4 years later I'm still playing regularly with 3 of the groups. The bottom line is if you go out as a single and are friendly you will find most people are the same way. I play a about 150 rounds a year and I can count the bad pair ups Ive had on one hand. Play courses you want to play and you will find someone to play with soon.
  11. It seems interesting. Do you have any of the other workout DVDs or just the one co-branded with titleist? Is was asking because the reviews on the site aren't that great for this. I was a little let down after reading them. Also what type of equipment do you need?
  12. I completely agree. I know a lot of guys who play mini-tours and when they are playing solid and posting low rounds there is always someone there to back them for events. If you have the talent and want to play at a high level the money side of it will take care of it self because there are always guys with money who want to some exciting investments. I have a buddy who is a great golfer (solid +2) and plays in several tournaments a year. He places and makes a small amount of money. Long story short he wants to try and make a run at it. He is 28 years old but needs his full time job to support his wife and kids. Where he is hoping to get "lucky" is by finding a couple of sponsors who will basically subsidize his life to practice and prepare for tournaments full time. So, the reason I say it is luck because as a lot of guys have said the luck comes into play if he can grab the attention of a couple of guys before he misses his window. The reality is though my buddy is a great player but no where near the pro-level right now. The comment about someone beating Dufner or Johnson half the time is kind of wild. If you look at the rankings this year there aren't many pros that have been beating these guys 50% of the time ;)
  13. When playing some of the nice country clubs here I enjoy missing fairways every once and awhile. We always joke around that when you miss one you are just looking to load the bag up with pro-v's. On a wayward drive last week I found 7 pro-v's that were all 1 hit wonders. It was like Christmas.
  14. Another good option would be Papago. It is never busy but the grounds keeper there knows what he is doing. The course is in great shape and is definitely a good example of a desert course. Greens are always in good shape- Papago hosted an LPGA event several years back. I think it is one of the better values in the valley. The views are sweet wrapping around the Papago mountains and you also get some nice city views on a couple holes. I think their rate right now is $27 with a cart. All the other courses are great as well. Definitely call and make sure the course is aerating as most do it in September.
  15. What is TRX? Haven't heard of the program.
