  2. Some times you can find "pull outs" on ebay where someone has reshafted a set. You could look to see if by chance there were some that would match your clubs. the only problem would be that with graphite there is a risk that the shaft was damaged when it was removed. I used to work in a golf shop and we would charge a lot extra to reshaft Callaways because of the extra time it took for the Bore through shaft so it could be expensive to have them done at a pro shop. Your best bet would be to by a used set. Also check with Callaway's customer service because they are good to work with you.
  3. Use this tool and you can get almost any rubber grip on them. It will feel like an oversized grip but at least you will have some options. Usually grips like the GP Velvet or Lamikin Crossline work the best. http://www.golfsmith.com/products/18...Installer_Tool http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_BBGIT_A_cn_E_17
  4. http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_VGGR_A_cn_E_17 I used to use this to remove grips. As long as they are still pretty new and are a rubber grip (doesn't work with winn) I could get a whole set of grips off with out damaging them. This is a little different than the one I had since it is v shaped. Mine was flat but still uses the same process. Put in grip and spray some grip solvent or mineral spirits in the grip. Work the tool down to the bottom and start twisting and eventually the grip will slide off. Only negative is sometimes some of the tape stayed in the grip so if you didn't get it out the grip was lumpy.
  5. Thanks for the answers. All of them make since. I have a flat swing that looks like a baseball swing (probably because I always played baseball when I was younger) so I know what I need to work on this winter.
  6. For many years I battled a slice but after practicing I got rid of the slice and for the past 2 years have a draw and sometimes hook on my irons (RH). I always thought a draw was from having the face closed at impact but I was proven wrong this past weekend. I teed off with a 3 and used a white tee (very rare I usually use natural) I hit a beautiful shot to the right side of the fairway with a slight draw so that it would come back to the middle which it did. After the shot I looked at the bottom of my club and the tee mark showed that the club face was open! So my question is if the club face was open how did I draw the ball?
  7. I usually just carry driver and a 2 and 3 hybrid. If I am playing in a scramble or something where there is a long par 5 I might throw the 3 wood in the bag but most of the time I can hit my 2H the same or better.
  8. You might also try callawaygolfpreowned.com lots of used callaway clubs as well as other name brands. Copies are okay to begin with but coming from experience a name brand club feels better and is more consistent. I went from playing Bertha copies to Cobras and could tell a huge difference. Adams clubs aren't bad, especially if you get a set that has hybrids instead of long irons.
  9. I have never taken lessons but have always wondered if they would help now since I have been playing for 10 years. I wonder if I have developed too many bad habits. I don't play bad but I am not consistent. I have shot a 79 once and have shot over 100 before as well. I usually stay around the 85 range but have started to get worse due to getting married and not having as much time to play. Plus lessons are expensive.
  10. Currently playing with a Callaway X460 10 degree. Before that was a Ping G5 copy with 10.5. My distance never seems to change much with loft but my accuracy sure does. Just going down a 1/2 a dgree on the Callaway I could tell a difference. I'm thinking of maybe trying a higher lofted driver this year 12 or 13 just too see if I still get the same distance. I don't believe in the lower loft more distance theory. I quit believing that when my 270 yard drives were getting blown away by a guy using an original Adams Tightlies 3 wood (16*) as his driver.
  11. I have a Nike stand bag that I bought when Nike first came out with their golf club line. Bought a Callaway a little later but went back to the Nike because it was lighter. Might get a new bag this year, probably will look at Ogio, Ping, Cobra ( brand of irons I use). Used to have a Datrek Cart bag and loved it until I went to the driving range or would walk. Ever since then I have always used a stand bag.
  12. I used to do club repair and but haven't done it in a couple of years but there shouldn't be any problem reshafting a cobra. Usually Titleist, Ping and Callaway were the brands that proved to be difficult. I have seen flexibility tests where two shafts that said they were "stiff" were very different so it is hard to believe what flex the shaft is just because it says stiff on the shaft. Get a shaft with a higher flex/ kick point to help bring the ball flight down. You could also find a store or pro that has a launch monitor to help you decide on a new shaft.
  13. Just found out about this forum a couple weeks ago and I can see myself being on here a bunch. Used to build golf clubs for a local sporting goods store but have been working in Education for the last couple of years.
