HAHAHA, Best "Stat" ever!

Much better to have broken your right pinkey than your left. Right hand grip pressure is supplied by ring and middle fingers. I would not play through too much pain, but this isn't the worst injury for a golfer.

He still makes a habit of it more than a top tour pro does. Is he improving from the beginning of the year... absolutely...

Haha, She's definitely a golfer.
-
Is it a 4 putt if you hit your second "putt" from off the green? haha...

I respectfully disagree. For me, this ball was plenty long, much longer than the e5+ I play, and at least as long as ProV1s for me.

Say NO! to gps/yardage computers

You seem to be misplacing your hostility in my opinion. Your problem is actually that in your eyes he can't reasonably play, with or without that knowledge. Frankly, the opinion that someone who is not an expert player doesn't deserve to know yardages is indefensible. He deserves to give himself every opportunity to hit a good shot, no matter how unlikely that may seem to others. An issue with pace of play is the only ground you could possibly have to stand on, and in the incredibly vast majority of cases, rangefinders will not hurt pace of play. And your example of that one guy maybe last year you think seems like the exception, not the norm. -

I would hate to insult the way you do your job, but there is a zero percent chance that you are more accurate at getting yardages to a visible pin than someone using a properly configured laser. You shouldn't find this insulting... I mean I know a calculator is more accurate and faster than I am at arithmetic, and there is no reason to get bent out of shape about it. There are so many things a good caddy can do for a golfer, which lasers can't do. Everyone who is for lasers would readily admit this. Also, riddle me this: if all a caddy does is give perfect, accurate yardages to the golfer, shouldn't those people who are anti GPS/Laser be anti-caddy for the same reasons? To take it further, consider the fact that a good caddy gives more than just yardages... -

Right... I would MUCH rather see a player pace off yardages and then duff it... and we all know that if you don't hit every shot perfectly, then you shouldn't be trying your best to do so... What is your point? -

I have to tell all the GPS/Laser haters one more thing: Many yardage markers on golf courses are not correct. There is a par 3 at one of my local courses which is listed at 169... a back pin lasers to 149. So while you pace off yardages using sprinkler heads and poles, it is extremely possible that they are NOT accurate. I guess that's just playing the game the way its meant to be played though. -
I hit a 400 yard drive 2 years ago. full disclosure though: it was in Utah, off a mountain with a 25mph tail wind. 10 yard short of the green. Made a terrible bogey.

Can anyone dumb down wedge bounce to me?

In these images, A = That number you are talking about. BTW Taylor, how is your 'cap so high when your scores are so low? JW... -

I do get my own yardages... using my Bushnell... The same way some people get it from pacing off yardages from markers which someone else no doubt lasered... -
I know just what you mean... every time I hear someone say "He played terrible" I almost can't keep myself from correcting him... it should be "He played terribly " or "He played terrible golf" or "He played a terrible round". He played terrible is simply not correct grammar.

Well I use a laser, and I feel like throwing in my 2cents on this. (Full disclosure, I'm 24 years old. I have no idea what this has to do with anything, but it seems to matter to the OP so...) First of all, knowing the distance my laser gives me is not the end of my distance calculation. I must also consider: elevation changes, wind, altitude, lie, slope, pin placement, weather conditions, landing area ground conditions, etc... So to say that using a laser makes the process of club and shot selection "robotic" is just naive IMHO. Secondly, it takes me no more than 10 seconds to get my yardage with my laser. I am a faster player with a laser. Period. Third, if you use any means of measuring distance on a golf course, including yardage markers, sprinkler heads, yardage books, caddies, etc., you cannot be critical of lasers or GPS. Lasers/GPS are simply faster, more accurate, and more convenient ways of getting the exact same information. Fourth, i completely understand people not wanting to use a laser/GPS. Just don't try to force that ideology onto everyone else. Finally, A GPS/Laser only provides information. This information wont make a player hit better golf shots. You can't hand a GPS to a 40 'capper and turn him to a 20. But, it will allow a golfer's better shots, the ones figured correctly and struck as he intended, to be properly rewarded more often. Whats so wrong with that? Golf is enough of a crap shoot as it is. -
Putter Designs for Putter Strokes/Paths
iWALK18 replied to Happy Dragon's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm fairly certain that the more toe hang a putter has, the more it lends itself to the open-square-closed arch stroke. Face balanced putters tend to be better for square-to-square. However, I am no expert. -
Allow me to vent lightheartedly: I got my first crack at getting under a 10 today. I am currently exactly 10.0, and I was losing a "24.5" throwaway score. All I needed was a +12 83 to get to a 9.9. Big stuff (not really but kinda fun). So anyways, I went out in +3 38. I was playing so well, it could have been a lot better. On the last 4 holes I lipped out a chip, and left 3 very make able putts short and dead in the heart. So I'm a bit frustrated with my putting but I figure I'm in great shape to put up a nice score. Then it starts raining... harder and harder. And I catch up with a very slow foursome. Soon the greens have little rivers flowing across them. Every club seems to be flying 20 yards shorter than normal. Bunkers turn from sand to hard heavy clay. Needless to say, my game goes downhill. I card a double, a bogey and a triple on 10, 11, 12. The rest of the way I manage to hold it somewhat together and end up + 10 46 on the back... bringing me to... 84. Still sitting at a 10, missed singles by one shot. Stat of the day was 2/11 on up and downs inside 30 yards... ouch. So I blew it. In the next 3 rounds, I will replace 2 of my top 3 scores. Getting to singles this year was one of my goals, but it looks like "maybe next year". The again, I don't want to just squeak under the wire for a couple rounds...

Got mine for 285... nice deal... hope you like them.

I don't think those jokes are racist at all, but i do find Phil to be darn funny.
-
I love paddy too, but the one shot i saw him hit today was a chunked wedge approach shot... i don't know if he's actually all the way back, he seems to still hit some surprisingly bad shots.
-
I actually put the ball just up of center. I found that if i had the ball too far back i would tend to push it out to the right.

I you had to pick only x amount of clubs..!

$12.00 = 105 balls I try to get the early bird special: $6.00 of 105 balls before noon.

I think this is really solid advice. I also would say not to hit lob wedge, and maybe not even sand wedge, as you can go right under the ball. So generally, the safest clubs to use out of tall tall grass are 7-8-9-pw

Yes, and playing from tees which are inappropriate for their abilities (and that includes length in most circumstances) is the conscious and controllable manifestation of this lack of consideration. Topping a ball is not inconsiderate, its part of golf for some of us.
