  1. It's been two months to the day since my last round of golf...why would a person voluntarily live in a place where the golf season is only 7 months long (that's if we're lucky)? Oh well....hope you all are playing well or enjoying your off seasons...Happy 2011
  2. I think if you could do one exercise or workout regimen, it would be yoga...maybe 45-60 minutes every other day...balance/flexibility/strength.
  3. Any sort of fake "mounds" built up in fairways or near fairways. I'm a huge fan of courses that follow the natural terrain, where the terrain revealed the holes.
  4. Just starting to watch season one. I'm on episode seven. I'm really looking forward to it!
  5. My favorite driver shot is a hard, low fade. Tee it low, aim down the left side of the fairway (rough line on most holes), put the ball up in the stance just a tiny bit, bring it back slightly outside, rip it. When it works, the ball stays out of the wind and gets some roll (as opposed to a high fade). When it doesn't work, it seems like the misses stay within a reasonable distance of the fairway (as opposed to trying to hit a draw and overcooking it and ending up 50 yards left of the fairway).
  6. Wrong. JM and Faldo are the only two who speak the truth, even when it hurts. It may not be a coincidence that they were world class players in their day and none of the other commentators were. I like the fact that they say it like it is and they're willing to take a few risks.
  7. I'd have to say tiered greens are my least favorite aspect of course design...I have absolutely no problem with slope or undulation, but when it's an obvious shelf, it irks me...I always feel like I'm playing Clown Mouth Mini-Putt when I have to come up or down one of these greens
  8. try playing in teams of two and simply rotating partners every 6 holes, that way everybody plays with everybody...play high low so there's two points available on each hole...give everybody their strokes where they fall...i agree with the last comment that it's important to establish at least a rudimentary handi for everyone in the foursome...good luck!
  9. Maybe wishful thinking here, but we're hoping to head south of Minneapolis at the end of March down to Des Moines or maybe a bit farther to play golf. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  10. Just a casual observation from a long-time caddie at good private courses around minneapolis: I think the average player (with no mullies or gimmes) is about a hundred shooter (somewhere in the 25 to 28 handicap range).
  11. 1. Keep the driver in the fairway--last season was a mess due to me hitting the driver crooked. 2. Spend more time on the putting green. I averaged 30.5 putts per round last year, that's about two too many.
  12. Stupid...it will cost him
  13. The only golf related thing I read is GolfWeek...nothing else...a few years ago, I made the mistake of reading a bunch of golf books (books by pros, teachers, etc) during the winter and it wrecked my whole season--too many thoughts in my head. I decided I don't want to think about very much golf related over the winter.
  14. Another Newbie here...located in Minneapolis--long, cold winter...can't wait to start hitting balls again!!
  15. Specialty Advertising--my company does work for the NFL, NHL, USTA, USGA, etc.
