Anyone playing the bio cell driver
hunter991 replied to Slowcelica's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
i play it standard at 10.5. Works for me.. Stiff shaft, standard. I have tried the 11.5 but for some reason i wasn't getting the same dispersion. -
Best New Driver in the $200 Range?
hunter991 replied to deepfat's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Look at the cobra bio cell. you can get them for $149 and its a great driver. I currently play that along with a G20 and to be honest the cobra is a little longer, is adjustable and every bit as good. -
Anyone here go from G20 to G30 irons?
hunter991 replied to motsco's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
i was told by 2 different pros that there isn't enough difference between my G20 and G30 to make the switch. -
i have bought from them. Always a very good experience. Fast shipping and great prices.

i play the Razr X NG's and LOVE them. I also have G25's and the NG's are just as good for far less money.

no, the driver won't help you IMO. I would focus on fixing the swing first or taking a lesson of 2 to see what is going on. Now, that being said, there are drivers that can help but i don't care what driver someone tells you will work, i wouldn't spend the money until you know. If you are swinging every ball to the right i would assume you are contacting the ball with a slightly open face. This means that maybe you are not fully releasing, standing incorrectly or your grip needs work. I am also assuming its NOT a slice but more of a push or fade to the right. I struggle with the same thing every once in a while. I also fell into the trap of buying lots of drivers to help cure my issues. If you really want a new driver the Cobra Bio cell or bio + may be worth it. I have been driving with that one and its a forgiving driver. Still push a few right but i found that i was most comfortable swinging that driver. But as with any driver get fitted by someone who knows what they are doing. Most drivers today come at 45.75" and that is long and for new golfers this can cause fits. But getting fitted they may cut it down for you depending on your swing, size etc...

i hit the G20 as well and love it so much i bought 2 of them. But i would love to try the G25 if the price drops. -
Driver shaft length too long for most players
hunter991 replied to Motley01's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just bought a 3rd driver yesterday to test out the shorter driver shaft theory on my own. I normally swing my stock G20 Tour S at 45.75 and do pretty well with it. However, lately i have bee playing courses with small narrow fairways and wanted to see if a shorter shaft would allow me greater control. I bought an Amp Cell and had it cut to 44.75". Time will tell but i hit back to back with both drivers at the range last night and couldn't tell much difference. I personally would not go too short. I would step down and maybe go 44.5 first. -
Will a mallet style putter help me...?
hunter991 replied to amac's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I thought a mallet would help me, but really made me much worse. I struggle with the same things. went back to a blade and i am much better. The mallet has a completely different feel one in which i did not care for. It was NOT as forgiving, and harder to adjust to how hard to tap the ball. What did help me was the right length. i went from a 34" mallet to a 35" blade and that made a big difference. Make sure your putter length is right first. -
I just bought a second set for a vacation home so i don't always have to travel with my clubs. I found the Nike MachSpeed clubs for $299. They are pretty decent. I would check them out if you can. I found them a little more forgiving than the TM clubs for $399.

Tour shaft spins less.

Mixed bag here but have been gravitating to PING lately. Ping Irons, driver and hybrid, tour exotics hybrid, odessey putter, and a no name wedge at the moment all inside a tity bag. They way I look at it is, whatever I hit the best, whatever has the features I like to have I will buy and not care about who makes it.

I have the G20. By far the best driver for me and I tried them all. Not even sure why. I would say go newer with the G20. If you are working on getting better, then get the driver that you plan to have 2 years from now . I am not saying the G20 is far superior technically, but I also don't believe in all the marketing hype with todays drivers. If you believed every mfg we should all be hitting the ball 500+ yards by now. The G20 was more appealing to me at address and still has the latest so called technology. I also hit the G25 and G15 which I liked but the G20 I was far more consistent.

thanks for the replies. I bought the g25's and love them so far. They don't seem as long as my Burner 2.0's but as someone mentioned above, my burners were pretty inconsistent with distance. I know it could be me, but even on good hits, it seemed I couldn't find consistent yardage on particular club. The pings seem far more consistent and easier to hit. Also seem to have much better quality. I too got fitted and the process was more in depth than that others. I played the same course within 2 weeks one time with my TM's and once with the pings.. TM = 102, pings I shot a 95. My shots were far more consistent and straighter. This was the clubs I believe. the clubs I considered where the Xhots - great distance (2nd choice) Mizuno 825's, just didn't like the feel (put it down right away as didn't care for) TM - Rocketbladz (3rd choice) Also picked up a set of Nike Mach Speeds (irons) for a 2nd set for not having to lug my clubs everytime I go to up north to my cabin. And boy can you tell the difference between the nike's and the pings. Ping has a great feel comparing the two. The nikes are nice but they are not the g25's.

demoed them a few weeks ago when looking for new irons. honestly didn't care for them. To me it felt like you "felt" the ball when hitting. I felt lots of vibration up the shaft compared to the other 3 sets i hit.
-
i recently switched to the PING G20 driver and love it. Far more consistent than my TM burner driver.
-
Anyone try these yet? i am looking for a new set of irons. more specifically, i was told its not a "long hitting Iron" and that i should go to something like Rocketbalz. For those of you who have tried them, how do you like them and do they compare? The PGA pro at my local shop said if you want distance in our irons, don't buy ping. Never heard this before.
-
Can anyone comment on these 2 sets? I hit a number of clubs this afternoon and these are the two I hit most consistent. I am looking for a very forgiving club, game improvement. I noticed I hit the calloways about 20 yards further on the monitor on a consistent basis. This shocked me. Any comments? are both pretty much the same?

Are expensive golf balls worth it?
hunter991 replied to Hotrodjrd's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Here is my opinion as I am the same kind of golfer as you. Not great, but not terrible either. I won't spend $50 on golf balls. Just can't as I lose some on each round. What I do like however, is a ball with lower spin off the tee for straighter drives. I will spend $20 a dozen because I can tell the difference between a Wilson staff fifty over a 8 year old top flite which feels like a hard piece of plastic. I also want to find a good CHEAP ball that I can stick with so I know what to expect when playing. The hard part is finding a good low spin ball that works around the greens. I have been using Bridgestone E6 golf balls. They drive well and I can stay a lot straighter off the tee than I can with a Titleist V1x which has so much more spin for me. again, my goal is to find a decent ball that I can stick with. Right now its the E6, Wilson staff 50's, and pinnicle golds. All of these I like and they are all cheap. Calloway Diablo's are nice too. I am at the point where I am going to pick one of these as my favorite and if anything it will just add confidence to my game. -
you may want to consider the Ping g20 or g25. Since switching this club has improved my game. very forgiving and very long. I am longer off the tee by about 15 yards over my TM burner.

Taylormade Burner 2.0 or Ping I20
hunter991 replied to bseibel's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I play the burner 2.0 irons. they are decent, I wouldn't say they are anything super special but they work as intended. I would call them a good average set. I am pretty new to the game myself. The one thing I will say is the burner superfast 2.0 driver was a nightmare for me. Way too long and lightweight. Really screwed up my drives. That's where I found the ping driver is best. -
I have the G20 driver and love it. it certainly helped my game. Very forgiving and long. I would not trade it for any other driver regardless of cost. Not sure of the difference between the g20 and 25 but it can't be much.

Can someone explain the proper way to assign your handicap? Got in a debate this morning with a few people and i guess none of us really agreed on the proper way.
