Boy this took about 10 minutes of my life I wish I had back
-
By the way can you tell me a little more about the tip you received,I am fighting the same thing with the fade/slice with every club from 9 iron up to my driver
-
montru, you scores sound exactly like mine to the tee I could shot in the middle 80's just about everywhere I went even courses that I had never seen and the last 3 games my score was 95,105 and 93.Some hole I was hitting so great shots and some holes it was like I had never hit a golf ball in my life,I hit a 3 wood off the deck and I swear it almost went through my legs.I am not going to give up,I can and WILL get better this is my first year playing since middle school so I think I am still OK
-
I plan to do that in the spring so I know that I would have time to work on it in good weather
-
Just wondering if I am by myself by betting worse as the year goes on.I play once a week and try to get to the range every week trying to cure my fade because a lot of the courses I have been playing as of late they dogleg to the left, but that is another story. So what the hell should I do lay off for a while or go at it harder
-
After the big double bogey or worse just say that was a Paris Hilton, when they ask what you are talking about say (man that was a expensive ho)
-
Yea I just thought I would share and feel free to chime in with you guys's own little story.Yea I was on cloud 9 with a round like that.Smallville I just read your post and you are exactly right, and I wished I could have but it was a afternoon tee time and with playing the other 18 and with it getting dark earlier and earlier you know the rest of the story.Maybe could have gotten 3 more hole in so I just stopped while I was still ahead

Yesterday I went golfing on a course that I have played four time counting yesterday, the other 3 times I played it I shot a 83,85,85 not a overly hard course but not the easiest either has a 120 slope rating. We play 18 and it was not pretty for me shot a 93,loss of several balls of the tee box ran the score up pretty bad.Not having a good day I was ready to go after about hole 9 but toughed it out and played the back nine (and by the way it was no better.)My brother talked me into another 9 and feeling like I havent punished myself enough agreed to it.By the way it does not matter what I shoot I always have fun on the Golf course. So off we go and I end up shooting the best round for 9 hole that I ever have,I shot a 2 over par 37,2 under through 5 holes now thats a great feeling being under par.Now you tell me golf ain't a funny game..................I love it...
-
Yea I had fun with them and helped them all that I could, that being said I really think it took me out of my game and was just wondering if this is my fault or is it normal for this to happen
-
Does playing with first time golfers or brand new golfers mess up your round, the reason I ask is that I had family in this weekend and we all went and played Sunday and today and I did not play worth a dam either day with the constant tring to help and giving advice, chasing the stray balls and all that.Is it just me being not mentally strong enough to just play my game or does it mess with you guys as well, and I do understand its not thier fault and you have to start sometime, just asking

Its a game that anyone can play. You dont have to be athletic or in great shape to play this game

What is the widest lake you would dare attempt to hit over?
gasfreak replied to HytrewQasdfg's topic in Golf Talk
I was not saying that I do change balls, just a question.I am not the longest hitter in the group I play with but I can most time hit the fairways.I dont hit a very expensive ball anyway so its no big deal for me to hit on in the water, but I have been working on not getting in there if you know what I mean. There are a couple of guys that I golf with that will do it almost everytime and I tell them the samething, dont be a sissy -

What about with your last prov-1,not a shag ball. Also how many people switch balls when water comes in to play? -

Ain't it something when you put water in the fairway, the big drive numbers go way down. This is a good way to ask the same old question that gets asked on here a lot and you see some wild numbers....My answer is about like some of the other guys 200'ish -
Well you guys made me feel a heck of a lot better.I just got back in to it this year,I played when I was in school you know with all the free lessons I was pretty good. When I was in the 12th grade I was a 2 handicap and now I am a11.7 handicap and getting a little better with time. Now here is what I learned from this first summer back 1:Take Advil before you go 2:Its kinda like riding a bike 3:I am not as flexabile as I used to be 4:Dont beat your self up when you hit a bad shot, just make the next one better 5:This game is more mental than I remember as a kid 6:If you have a blowup hole put it behind, dont let it ruin your whole game 7:Old men cuss a lot on the golf course, some throw clubs 8:Dont try to beat the guys you golf with, this is a one man sport so just try to better you score each time you go 9:Beating the guys you go golfing with (PRICELESS)hahahahaha 10:Have you ever done anything more fun(well i can think of one....) Having said this,I have always had a great time playing, scoring good or bad Greg,

hello from Henderson Kentucky
-
I never said you could not do this but if you did you better hope it just wasnt a fluke because a lot of people on here including me has put a lot of time in to this game and you can see my handicap, and I can normal always beat people that I regularly play with,so thats all I am saying. And you dont know how many times that I hear (man I am having a bad day)when you are ahead by a few strokes, if you know what I mean.
-
just be sure that you are counting all your strokes and not cheating yourself, remember you can be as good as Tiger with your scorecard but it will not help you improve your game.

Beginner mistakes when using the driver
gasfreak replied to steve617's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Man you can disagree all you want but anyone on here that can make good ball contact will tell you that they can hit their 3 wood just about as far with better control than their driver, not all but most.I can hit my 3 wood within 20 yards of my driver not a huge difference, but most of the time I like to let the big dog eat -
kfowler did you get to see the video, and my fade is a little too much for some hole close to a weak slice and I know it is killing my distance
-
Usually it will start just a little left and then goes right but I think the reason it goes a little left is that like you have said I am squared around that way to allow me to hit the fairways. I have learned to deal with it all summer and do pretty good even with it.But I am thinking if I can get rid of it I can gain more yardage of the tee box,is this right.I am going to video my swing this afternoon and will try to get a link on here no matter how ugly it might be
-
Do you think it would be worth the time and effort to go to my local golf shop and get on there launch monitor and them tell me what I am doing wrong to cure my weak slice
-
Man if I could hit every fairway and drive it 275 yards I would not worry to much about it.But typically if you have a slice you will not get that kind of distance(believe me I have the same problem) I can hit most fairways but I have no distance at all most times 200 yards for me,its killing my game being so short off the tee
-
Anyone can win a golf tournament, but not everyone can hit it as long as me." Maybe because of comments like this?
