Why not join a golf club and meet real people?

I suspect the new 913H and 913Hd would have similar shot results as the 910F and 910Fd.

skycaddie vs rangefinder+gps watch
teed off replied to Jspangler's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I find that GPS and laser units are both equally good on familiar courses whereas, the GPS unit would have a added advantage on an unfamiliar course for lay up distances etc. However, a laser unit can be very useful at the practice range where the GPS unit would be essentially useless for this purpose. . -
I use the PW that came with the set because it has the same shaft, length, lie and grip etc as the 5-9 irons. You already paid for it so why would you use something else?

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
teed off replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Today I picked up a brand new Titleist 910F 15* fairway metal with Diamana Kai'li 75 stiff. A great deal for a great club! -
TEEING on a par 3. Yes or NO?
teed off replied to Youngbear11213's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I always use a tee on par threes or any other hole, take every advantage you can. -
I do not understand why anybody would buy golf clubs on line unless all that you are looking for is the cheapest stuff out there. If you want to make the best of your time and $ investment, why would you not go IN PERSON to a registered shop and be properly fitted by a professional? If you do not want to go through the time to be properly fitted with OEM equipment, then accept the "stuff" that you purchased on line for what it is, which frequently ends up being fake or junk and a waste of your hard earned $.

After watching some of the great , and not so great shots, that were made in last week's PGA tournament, I learned that if I could hit a ball and have the same course management that they do, I would be playing with them next week.

Which golf balls do you use?

I play the Bridgstone E6, Titleist NXT or TopFlight Gamer V2 which ever is on sale at the time. -
Bridgestone e6 or srixon q star
teed off replied to clarky75's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have not played the Srixon Q Star but I have played the Bridgstone E6 for a while and I like it. It is a lower spinning ball than the E5 that suits my game. You will get some run out on full wedge shots into the green with the E6, however the E5 will not "stick" like a ProV1. The higher spin rate of a Q Star/E5 may hold the greens from a full wedge shot a little better than the E6, but they will also spin a lot more off the driver as well. So if you can control a higher spinning ball off your driver/long irons than the Q Star may be a better choice over the E6 for your game. -
Do old balls damage new clubs?

Not that I am aware of. -
The Best Mid-Priced Ball
teed off replied to TMBridgestone's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
For around $20/doz I like the TopFlight Gamer V2, play this ball against the ProV1x and see what you think. If I can find the Bridgstone E6 at this price , I would pick up a few dozen also. -
Seeking a new set of clubs
teed off replied to abnjim6's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
$300 on Amazon or E-bay for a "decent" set of clubs is a tall order. Be cautious of junk and fakes that are out there. Regardless of your experience or handicap, I would take the $300 to any good golf shop and ask the staff/pro what is best the fit for you at this time and price point. You do not have to spent $800-$1000 or more for a good set of clubs. Good luck, and have fun with your search. -
I agree with several of the posts; on an overcast day I use Bridgstone E6 yellow ball as I can follow the flight against the grey cloudy sky. I have not tried orange balls under the same conditions , but, after reading a few posts here it sounds like a good alternate to yellow. However, I do use a white E6 ball on bright sunny clear days.

Do golf shoes really need spikes?
teed off replied to goodputt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Several years ago I had a 700am tee off time at my local GC where there was a fair amount of dew on the first tee box. The weather forecast called for a picture perfect day; sunny and warm, so I decided that I would wear my running shoes for the round. While walking back down the slight slope to my cart, after hitting my tee shot, I promptly slipped and fell flat on my ass due to the wet grass. After picking myself up off the ground, I proceed to my car, removed my running shoes and put my golf shoes on. The worst part was playing the rest of the round with a wet ass! Since that day I have never played another round, rain or shine, without my golf shoes, with spikes installed. -

Recent demo sale on Boxing Day at my local GolfTown, picked up a Titleist 910D2 with stock Project X 7C3 6.0 shaft new GP New Decade grip installed---$113.00 taxes in. Hardly a mark on the club head and I love the PX shaft, have PX 6.0 fitted shafts in my irons, can't wait to give this a hit out on the range in spring. -
Thank's for the reply David in FL , I will be staying in the Kissimmee area and I will have a car for the week so getting to the courses is not a problem. We (my wife and I) would like to get three rounds in during the week, with the round at Falcon's Fire the last. I am looking at Dubsdred or Kissimmee Oaks for a starter round (never have played either) as we have not swung a club since mid October and need to get the rust out! Also looking for a driving range in the area. Any suggestions? I appreciate you opinion.........

Hello everyone, I will be in the Orlando FL area the first week of February 2013 and I am anxious to play a few courses in the area. I have played all of the Disney courses and I am now interested in playing a few other courses, but there are so many to choose from. I have booked a round at Falcon's Fire GC which is my treat for the week, however I am also interested in playing a decent course (around $25-$40) as a practice round before getting to Falcon's Fire. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you in advance..........

I agree with previous posts regarding which ball you should play as there are may different styles/construction out there for you to choose. Pro-V1, B-330, TM Penta etc are all great balls to play if your driver club speed is well over 100mph consistently. If it is less than 100mph then you probably will not compress the ball enough to get the full potential that the ball is capable of, hence, you will not see the advertised performance benefits (backspin etc)of the ball. Marketing IS everything, at $50/dozen the manufactures sell a ton of them. These balls may not be in your best choice at this time for your game, and you will feel the pain in your wallet when you see them splash into the pond. As your game improves then they may be an good option for you. I would start by purchasing a sleeve(s) of balls that your local pro or golf shop recommends for your swing type, and go from there. There are a lot of good balls out there for around $20/dozen..............good luck and have fun finding it!
