  1. I like the fact that if we want to we can basically play the gear the pros play (more or less, we dont normally have access to all the fitting systems etc) if we so choose. Personally I don't chase pro/ tour only gear as I know I have a LOFT (Lack Of F%&king; Talent) issue and chase a bit more forgiveness in my equipment. I think even with the advances in tech over the years, the average handicaps etc haven't moved too much for the Joe average Golfer. All thats really happened is the older courses have been over-powered by the pros.
  2. Not sure I like the look of the irons, they are pretty busy and fear they would be laughed out of town if the likes of Wilson had put them out
  3. If I was the pro I wouldn't be too pissed if you cancelled the lessons
  4. I prefer to buy last years model form a known OEM on close-out. They end up about the same price $200-300 for a set if you shop around. Also its a bit of buyer beware if you start up grading shafts grip etc form their stock stuff. If you go over board you can end up at near retail from the OEMs L Blacks bag is an unusual mix with mainstream OEM and the clone
  5. Just go to the lesson with an open mind and see how it goes. its not a good start form his point of view, but don't it ruin the whole thing. You are probably all excited setting up your lesson and goals, he is probably at the end of the day with a number of "aspiring pros" with 20+ handicaps who want to play forged plates etc etc
  6. Just get out and play more will do for me
  7. thanks boogie... sure is nice to be able to keep in touch and up to date, even if its from the middle of the African bush
  8. If you want to put your favorite retail out of the Ping game, just post away!!!
  9. LOL, Just the one case? Must have been and old case you bought at some road side stall at Ponta or on the road to Vilanculos!!
  10. Thanks Canuck, the G25s have really caught my eye, but the VR Pro Cavity price keeps luring the bargain hunter in me! I have been playing the Adams a7 for a few years and I like that not too over the top GI style, almost a tweener between a GI and players club, which I think the VR is as well. I was tempted by the not quite so OTT look of the G25 and who can't use a bit more foregiveness! I'll check out your review
  11. IMHO most of it is twaddle, you get the most popular wedges are Vokeys and Cleveland- cast. Have seen many net warriors surprised that their prized short sticks were in fact cast. Everyone else (other OEMs) are playing with forged to try and grab some market share by offering something different. I also never understood the feel argument, it happens after impact so its not like it can help your game. Unless people are claiming they are some form of golfing Jedi that can feel what the ball is doing on the club face and can adjust the club accordingly in the fraction of a nano-second that is impact. Even with with a cast club you can tell when you have missed the sweetspot and if you are in doubt you can have a look at the face and see all the dimple marks out past the grooves on the toe, simple. If you miss the other way and hit the hosel you don't need a forged club to tell you there is something slightly amiss with your swing!
  12. kinda on the fence hankering for the new G25 or the Rocketbladez, but these still catch my eye as a nice clean looking club that by all accounts just performs even if they did fly below the radar for most
  13. If you want a bargain, last years Vrs was a bomber and very straight/ accurate, tested well everywhere
  14. Hi just signed in to this site. Living in Mozambique, a huge country with 3 golf courses and no golf shops. Avid golf nut and currently working in the most remote corner with no golf course for about 1500km! Lots of good courses in neighbouring South Africa, but slow border xings in Africa kinda take the lustre off a good day on the course. Use the web to keep up to date with equip and tourneys, buy gear on line largely out of necessity so reviews play a big part in my purchasing process.
  15. 2M- Mozambiques finest. Easy drinking no hangover beer
