1. Nike CCI forged. They were gold in Golf Digest the year they came out but never really caught on. $150 on ebay. They also made a cast version so, if interested, make sure you're getting what you want. I own a set and have always liked them.
2. Wow, Just put a little ice on it, the swelling will go down.
3.
Sunscreen. Welcome to the site, and back to the madness of golf!

Sunscreen. Welcome to the site, and back to the madness of golf!
Will second the sunscreen. Two weeks ago I had a spot of basal cell melanoma removed from the side of my neck that was about half the diameter of a golf pencil. Took 7 stitches to close. Tomorrow I go for a similar sized spot on my forehead. May have to change my screen name to scarface.:-\ Wear sunscreen.
4. Some don't even follow the old rule "Never pick up a lost ball that's still rolling." Can't really say its gotten worse over the years though, even back in the 70's and 80's there were people that wouldn't give a thought as to how that ball might of gotten there and if it could still be in play by someone else. People not yelling "Fore" anymore is another story. That has most definitely gotten worse. Need an f-in hardhat on some courses anymore.
5. With your 8.6 index I'd be very surprised if offset improves anything in your game, you already know how to hit a golf ball. Just sayin.
6. I know exactly what you mean, and I agree with the 4th point you made in the post I quoted from. It means more if you're a lower handicap and I assume, since you call yourself a pro, you're handicap is pretty low. I, on the other hand, could probably shoot pretty much my normal score with your wife's clubs.
7. I'm glad YOU said that. Just about anyone else would have been burned at the stake, with many cheering in the gallery.
8. If you haven't already, try Carl's Golfland. I noticed they aren't even showing a price on the G25's, they want you to call. That might be a good sign. They're also saying they will help you put together whatever set you want. They're local to me and have always been competitive on their prices and their service has been first class. Just a suggestion.
9. Just got a couple dozen myself. They were only out one year so there is no "prior generation" that I know of. When they're gone, they're gone, replaced by the Tour Preferred that just came out. May be better deals going forward but $30 delivered is a pretty good deal right now.
10. So what does it all mean in terms of score? How many strokes between a players club and a GI club, or a SGI club? 2? 5? 10? I see posts on here all the time where someone will say "with your index, you can't hit a blade". Why can't they hit a blade? I hit blades for 25 years and my iron game was the best part of my game and my handicap never got to single digits. I ask you WU because you're one of the tech guys on here and if you can't quantify the differences then I'll continue to believe that anyone can hit any club if they're willing to work on their swing mechanics. Your game is bought at the practice range, not at Golfsmith.
11. Can't speak on the weather but will add these three words. Negotiate, Negotiate, Negotiate. I live in SE Michigan and know from groups I've gone up with and others I've heard about, these resorts will strike deals, depending on timing and group size. Get your best talker on the phone with the resorts you are interested in and see what happens. Nothing is in stone with these places.
12. Thanks for the reply. The bag caught my attention because Divot.com has the Burton Pro on sale for $70. Seemed like a pretty good deal.
13. Anyone own one? Any opinions? Burton always had a pretty good rep for quality.
14. Firm might not be too bad. I have a set of Nike CCI forged with 5.0's and never had a problem with them, actually thought they felt pretty good. A half step stiffer is most likely outside my ability to even feel it. Thanks again for your input. You always seem to prove the old adage, "you don't know what you don't know", and I've been playing this game for almost 50 years.
15. Thanks for the info, WU. Reason I was asking is that I recently purchased some used irons that have Flighted Proj. X 5.5's and was told that was equivalent to an R shaft, which is what I wanted. Oh well, guess I'll find out this spring when the weather gets better and I can get out and hit them.
16. So help me understand this, please. A Project X Flighted 5.5, although slightly lighter than a DG S300, actually plays a bit stiffer? Thanks.
17. Makes sense, I saw that Dick's and Rockbottom have been selling the Lethals as low as $35/doz. Starting to look like last year when the TP5's and 3's starting getting discounted ahead of the Lethal's debut. I liked the Lethal too, going to have to watch where the price goes, the TP's got into the $20-$25/doz. range last spring, not bad for a premium ball.
18. Mine is also etched. all the irons have the number 31 etched in but only the 7-iron has the entire serial number (plus the number 31). Anyone know the significance of the number 31?
19. Only the 7-iron in my set of Taylormade R9TP's have the serial number. Need a damn magnifying glass to read it, but its there.
20. My first guess would be the PG stands for Palmer Golf and the model is just called the Charger. Probably one the earlier offerings from his then new company.
21. Lasted how long? Until the next mornings cutting, right? If it was longer, how long? In PGA events, did the damage from Thursday affect Sundays play? Were Jack and Arnie and Ben putting over grooves in the greens? I don't ever remember hearing such things. It certainly wasn't true on the public courses I played. And, if true, would the pros put up with that today? Are you hearing any of them shouting for a ban? I haven't, but I don't follow this kind of thing that close. I remember speaking to two course supers back at the ban time and they both told me the push for the ban was clubhouse and cart related damage that the courses had to deal with and it really had nothing to do with the greens at all. When was the last time you rode in a cart that had a shredded floor covering or a was trashed in the dashboard area (for lack of a better term) from golfers putting their feet up while riding? How many remember shredded carpets in the clubhouses or wood deck areas shredded by metal spikes. That kind of stuff was the driving force for the soft spike movement. And for those that voted for a ban on the tour, how many of you play on the tour and how does this affect you in the least?
22. a "nasty slice" is not a shaft problem, its a swing problem.
23. Did I just see Tiger with a Ping pistol grip today at Arnie's tourney? My eyes aren't great but the shape was right and I could have sworn I saw PING written down the face. Anyone know?
24. I've tried many grips on a variety of putters over the years and always seem to come back to the Ping grips. Have one on my Cameron Newport right now. Its purely personal but they just feel right to me.
25. I just changed out the grips on all my clubs today. For the first time in probably 20 years I now have the same grip on all my clubs (except the putter). Just curious, how many of you change out grips on new clubs (a new wedge or fw wood or driver for example) to match whats in the bag already. Today I cut off 3 brand new grips that have never hit a ball just to get everything to match. Anyone else try to keep everything matching?
