  1. Though he still wrecks many a round , when in the crap Ive got to stop thinking what would Seve do .
  2. Anyone interested by the way How Rory won the US Open http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b012gqzc/Rory_Major_Breakthrough/
  3. Many observers , fellow players and teaching pros have all surgested the the young lad has it all , in bundles . Who am I to dissagree . I guess as long as he keeps his fitness and health he will be there or there abouts in all he enters. As we saw at the masters his weakness may be in the head ,if he can defeat that demon which I think he will I'd put him down , with a fair wind for 19 + Yes he is that good.
  4. When the Americans are doing well its Americans this , Americans that. When they arnt doing so well its , well I dont care about nationalities , its individuals . . Come on guys ,The reason your falling behind is because you put too much stock on how far you hit your drives ,playing target golf on mickey mouse courses (gee wiz looka the backspin , crap) Played with an American who came over on a work exchange , said he played off 6 , not on my course he diddnt more like 16 . Lets just hope ,for your sakes its not blowing up on Thursday and Friday next week , someone might get crushed on the rush to the airport to catch 19.06 to Miami ! (Tin hat on ! )
  5. The European tour has better golfers playing in it than the PGA at this time . Get over it ! Having seen the types of courses both tours play on Im not suprised . The American idea of a golf course is all very simular ,manicured target golf , ( Big drive, 8 iron , Ooo look at that backspin crap) The Europeans play a variety of course types and have a far wider range to their golfing skills. Im not saying that the US boys havn't got the tallent, there are some great players overthere, just that they should broaden their horizions a bit, The World rankings dont lie
  6. My hero has gone and I should be sad but I will not to be . The memory of that smile will keep me strong. RIP Seve ,, legend
  7. First impressions go along way. First point of contact is normally the pro shop.If you get a good feeling to start with the rest of the day normally follows suit.Of course you cant turn a goat track into Augusta by having welcoming staff and a tidy car park but I have found those who make the effort at base camp have normally done the same on the course.
  8. As the US has in the past,we here in the UK again need your help and support against the Fedralist Europeans in there quest to conquer Europe. The people are saying NO loud and clear to the madness that is the EU. Nobody is listerning, the EU has taken control of all aspects of our lives, burdinging us with red tape and over regulation. Our pathetic government has even recently handed over the regulation of the City of London to EU bureacrats. The next time you call London you will be transfered to Brussels! Our fishing industry has been decimated by the EU with red tape and regulation. While we here in the UK pay for the rest of Europes fishing fleet to be refitted ours is becomming extinct. Our fishing grounds are becomming barren we must fight back. We need your help ! (Just dont take 3 years to answer this time ) sign up www.fishfight.net
  9. Is this a thread on favourite songs or favourite Dead people ?
  10. Throw your driver away ,1 iron off the tee, Go back to a driver when your in single figures ,Simples!
  11. Cheesy Christmas songs do my nut in. Had to leave the Pub early last night as I couldnt stand the Christmas CD for the 20th time. And yes that pogues crap was in there somewhere along with the other dross. Do these idiots realy think we WANT to hear this benign rubbish every year ,give it and us a rest I say. Bah
  12. Thanks for sharing, Merry Christmas
  13. Came across some local rules that were implimented by my club during the war.Bearing in mind we are within a few miles of Croydon,Kenley and Biggin Hill (wartime fighter bases)Some are obvious and a few remind us of the "we carry on regardless" attitude of the people at that time. 1 Players are asked to collect bomb and shrapnel splinters to save these causing damage to the mowing machines. 2 In competitions during gunfire or while bombs are falling players may take cover without penalty for ceasing play (I like the word "may" in that one) 3 The positions of known delayed action bombs are marked by red flags at a reasonable ,but not guaranteed safe distance therefrom. 4 Shrapnel and or bomb splinters on the fairway or in bunkers within a clubs length of the ball may be moved without penalty and no penalty is incurred it the ball is moved accidentally whilst doing so. 5 A ball moved by ,lost or destroyed by enemy action may be replaced with a drop not nearer the hole without penalty. 6 A ball lying in a bomb crater may be lifted and dropped not nearer the hole, preserving the line to the hole.Without penalty. 7A player whose stroke is affected by simultaneous explosion of a bomb may play another ball from the same place with a penalty of one stroke (A bit harsh that one if you ask me)
  14. Some swing thoughts that go through my mind when hitting 3 iron. Address ball, forward in stance, grip, aim left, open stance a little (this will get the ball up in the air).Take club back low and smooth, brain shuts down at this point and you are in the hands of your god.(or the lessons you have had)
  15. My club www.chgc.co.uk celebrates its centenary next year. Last night was the book launch.Loads of beer and a mumbling, bumbling speech by the club president and a load of waffle by the Mayor was followed by the evenings highlight. A few words from Peter Alliss. Describing the club as an Oasis of greenary in the metropolis of London he said we were the only club he knew with 65 Kebab shops within ten minuites of the gate! Take a look of the Photo on the home page.Behind the clubhouse are the skyscrapers of London.Someone obviously thought it would be better to airbrush them out. Anyway ,100 years! I wonder if we will get a card from the Queen ?
