  1. I will go check out the link--we just got into town today. Mother-in-Law gave me a $150 gift cert to Bonita Golf Club, but I've played there & would like to hit a new track on Saturday. I will PM you with my contact info since we will be headed to the fair tomorrow & running around everywhere b/w now and Saturday. No other playing partners as of yet, so feel free to invite others. -LBB
  2. ****BUMP**** Still looking for playing partners for Saturday, if available. PM if interested, thx. -LBB
  3. Thanks for the reply, Clambake. Sorry to hear about the injury--I just fought through a period of sciatica, so I know what it's like to be out of commission. Hopefully someone will take me up on the request, but if not, I'm sure I'll meet some great ppl on the course. -LBB
  4. Check page 2 or 3 of this thread--there's a video on how it's done. -LBB
  5. I came close once when a clown decided to hit into my group, but he thought better of it. At my old home course in Louisiana, we had folks get arrested for similar incidents, with one guy going back to the parking lot to get his handgun... Fortunately, no one was killed. -LBB
  6. Hey Spoiled, To answer your original question, yes, I do balance my golf balls. Do I notice a difference? I can't say that I do, but when I step up to hit a drive or stroke a putt, I at least have that extra bit of confidence that it's balanced and aligned properly even if my swing isn't. It's kind of like all the other name-brand stuff other golfers put in their arsenal. As for whether or not this takes up too much of the OP's "time better spent practicing", it's fairly easy to do this at 9pm while watching CNN after a little putting practice in the living room. Take the answers for what they are worth, but don't let anyone ever talk you off of what works for you. Great conversation piece & just b/c others think it's a waste of their time doesn't mean it's a waste of yours. -LBB
  7. After six years together, I've finally gotten her into the game & we really enjoy it. Although she has no desire to join a women's league or play by herself, she fully understands and supports my need for "alone time" with the game. With a 3 & 5 yr old at home, our time is limited, so I play Saturday mornings & then she and the boys join me for another four holes after my round. We'll usually do four holes on Sunday afternoon as well--works out great! -LBB
  8. I once promised myself that I'd quit the day after my funeral, but realized I'd play golf in Hell if my arm were twisted....
  9. Anyone available to play on this date? I'll be visiting the SD area & would like to meet up w/someone if possible. Looking to play early in the day, but I'm flexible. 6th of July might be an option also--depends on whether the wife comes along (she's a beginner). I'll play just about anywhere & with anyone that respects the game. -LBB
  10. I suppose it's relative to what you are accustomed to. I play 12 months out of the year & wouldn't give it up for the world. The heat is easy to beat & once you're off the course, the chicks are wearing next to nothing! --LBB
  11. Congrats on your purchase! As you can see from my sig, I have this bag also--I think it's awesome. I've had this bag for two years & couldn't be more happy with it. I use it a minimum of three times a week on a push cart & I've had no problems with it. It is a bit bulky when used on a regular cart, but then, most cart bags are. --LBB
  12. I scored a membership at a local country club reputed to have the best greens complexes in the area. At any rate, it'll be a big change from my usual muni. Oh, and a box of Top Flite Gamers as an office gift (just in time for winter rounds). --LBB
  13. Right now I carry a 3w & 5w. My next club is a 3i. It's not the best setup, but it works really well for the courses I've been playing lately. I haven't met a Par 3 that requires more than my 3i, & I'm not challenging Par 5s like I used to, but I can alternate a 2h at any time. --LBB
  14. Nah, man...that rant was not directed at you in any way. You ask a valid question. It's just that some choose to presume to know what's best for everyone else. No one (to include hacks like me) needs to fear blades or worry about what others might think of their playing them. I personally love the look and feel. Even though I once felt more secure with my Pro Combo set, I've increased my confidence ten-fold by switching to the Mizzys. All the best. --LBB
  15. Quite frankly...because I want to. And I truly couldn't care less about what the person next to me thinks. Nor do I care what he or she plays. It's golf--an individual game/sport where a person can/should decide for him/herself. Sorry to sound like an ass, but too many people concern themselves way too much with what someone else chooses to do. If it's not hurting you, personally, then live and let play! --LBB
