  1. never mind, we got it worked out
  2. What you do with the rest of the money >? . Do you just pay the entire amount that was put up even though only 9 holes were completed ? We have some angry people that they did not get 1/2 their money back when it rained. We put up money for the front and back 9 holes. Only 9 holes were completed. Our course is short and you should complete 18 holes in 3.5 hours. We used the 5 hour limit because some would say that when the weather clears they will go back out and play. A decision has to be made so this is not an all day event. It rains and someone makes the call that no more golf today, then if 9 holes were completed them the other money is give back. Just need a suggestion on how others do it in a weather thing like this
  3. At our course we play four times a week. Wed at 12 and fri at 12. Sat and Sun at 9. We usually have anywhere from 12 to 24 golfers who all have points established . Once in a while somebody will show up and our rule is until they have three rounds they are froze at whatever the pro says they are. The most they can help is plus 3 and hurt is - 3. After three rounds they have points. We put up $15. Ten of those dollars are for team points on front and back ( most over ) we also have $2 individual points if you want to get in the pot for most over. We also put up $3 for par three scats . My question is how is the money divided if only 9 holes are played because of weather ? I say half all is fair but I got to get everyone to agree. Also who tells if we can continue play or stop. I suggested the person in charge of pro-shop. He should know if play can continue and make the call. Also we set a 5 hour time frame to complete the round. After that the pro shop manager makes the call. I need help on this one. Today we had 24 players. It rained hard with lightning so played was stopped. One team finished all 18 but they were the only team. All teams completed 9 so I said pay half back and I got into it. The winners of the front 9 claimed they won it all I said no. Any help please
  4. I don't like Tiger or Sergio. I am heading to KFC now. They have wings on special
  5. I can tell you one thing. The people that putt with these strange looking putters look dumb. I am sorry but that is how I see it. I wish they would have banned them years ago. I think many of these tour players will have to take up fishing or something when the ban takes place. I hate it for a few who know nothing else. Some have played with these strange putters since taking up the game. I also see more heckling coming when players continue to use these until the ban. I say start the ban now and not wait. I have tried the long putter and belly putter. I could not get over the fact on how stupid it looked to be putting with one. The yips is something you have to deal with. When the yips take over your golf game then its time to move on to something else in life
  6. Good , that makes you a math expert. The original topic was about the biggest jerk on tour that was started in 2008. Let just leave it be and enjoy the day. I made my point and post and we all have our opinions. This is just a message board. I happen to view things different than others sometimes but no harm intended. Over and out on this subject. This is all you will hear from me on this topic.
  7. I do not like Tiger. That's a fact Jack
  8. The red arrow shows where he crossed as far as I could see. I still say incorrect drop but I will bet you this will be the last we hear about it
  9. Miller noticed what I did. He took an incorrect drop and will probably get away with it. I play with people all the time that do the same thing. The move way ahead of where the ball should be dropped. I am going to find a sky view of hole 14 and see for myself
  10. I did not see any official even look close at it. I am telling you the ball last crossed the hazard way back from where he hit his next shot, I say 50 yards back. I hope they show it again
  11. He looked like he went way ahead of where he should have dropped. I would question that drop
  12. So you made a really stupid remark to a pro who is playing a serious tourney and now he is the jerk? Me probably. I had way to many beers that day. The senior tour is for golfers who can no longer compete with the big boys so I say they need to relax and enjoy life more. Most have already made plenty of money while playing the regular tour.
  13. I watched Ray Floyd tee off on what I thought was a par 5. I did not look at the tee marker but the hole sure looked long. After he hit his tee shot I walked right with him and said You should be able to get home in two with that blast. He looked at me like he wanted to punch me in the nose. I was with a friend and asked my friend what the heck is Floyd's problem. All I did was say he should be able to get home in two being he had bombed one. My friend said you dang dummy, this hole is a par four. LOL I said lets gets out of here and we left that jerk. The tournament was at Greystone in Birmingham about 6 or 8 years ago. I never liked him since even though my comment may had sounded like a wise crack but I did not mean it to be. I guess I should have looked to see what hole it was before he hit it. I could not stand it after that and made a point to catch up with him again that day. He was on a par three and I say I am quite sure you can get there today.lol. I had to get my last word in. I stood about 12 foot from Hale Irvin that same day and commented on his good shot.. He never looked back and just kept walking. He is also a jerk. Most of these pro's think they are better than the rest of us , that's for sure. I would have hated to be paired with Lee Trevino. He never shuts up . I am glad he give the game up. Not to take anything away for his golfing skill but I think he is also a jerk
  14. Joe, I was referring to certain people that play with us that hit their ball in the woods with a pro v and when they putt I notice it is a different ball. They are just cheaters and we all know it yet we continue to let them play. I know most all golf groups have them. I wonder sometimes if PGA tour players have a few. These people never mention when we are looking for their ball what brand and number until a ball is found and they say yea, that's it. A few years ago I watched one of these cheaters tee off and try to hit his shot over some trees to a short part 4. I was next to the green when he hit. His ball went behind the green by some trees. I just picked it up and put it in my pocket and waited until he got to where it should be. Yep, he found it right away. I never mentioned to him I had his ball in my pocket. I just wanted to confirm he was indeed a cheater. I tossed his ball in the water on the next hole.lol
  15. We play winter rules all year at our course so dropping from a tee box would probably fit into those winter rules. Some of the people I play with bend most of the rules anyway. If you are tagged as a cheater then from a golfer viewpoint your are branded for life. More than once I have seen a person tee off with a Pro V and finish the hole with a Top-Flite lol I just never seen a PGA event when a players ball landed next to a tee marker so I was not quite sure what the exact rule was. Thanks for your reply. JP
  16. My ball lands on another tee box today next to tee marker which had me blocked from green I was playing Would I get free relief ? or do I just move the tee marker? I always played where we dropped off another tee box but I know the rules say play it as you found it. I also know some local rules do not allow you to hit a ball off another tee box. I got the honor to play Shoal Creek near Birmingham Alabama and few months ago and my ball landed on another tee box. I was a guest at this great golf course and no way was I going to take a divot on that perfect tee box. Just wondering what would happen in tournament golf if the ball came to rest behind a tee marker that you were not supposed to move. JP
  17. I am a retired golf course superintendent and I can tell you somebody did not know what they were doing to have greens this bad. The tournament should have been canceled. If I were the super there I believe I would go into hiding. I do understand weather can play a big part in growing perfect bent greens. I have been to turf schools over the years and had dealing with lots of supers and some do not have a clue. They get the degree and never learn how to grow grass. I can tell all it is an art that no school really can teach. These greens on TV today should have been repaired last year. I live in the south and I have always said that bent greens are not meant for the courses in the deep south. Some years you will have no problems but let one of those heat waves come along and watch them die in front of your eyes. Bermuda greens are much better in the south. Bermuda grass loves warm weather and when those nights are in the 70's watch them grow. MiniVerde Bermuda is one of the best. Putting green speeds can be easily maintained between 9 and 11 on a Stimpmeter when growing this type grass. Why anyone wants a green faster than that beats the heck out of me. Watch some of those old PGA events years ago and see how hard they stroked the putter. Those greens were healthy also. I had much rather have healthy grass than stressed grass. Bring the cutting height down and see how much stress they get under. Some of these PGA events the greens almost look dead they are cutting so low. The PGA looks like they are trying to have goofy golf greens to me as fast as some are. The TV networks should not even show the bad greens at this weeks event. I know all are not as bad as some. Some look almost dead. A little topdressing would have helped if they had did it last week. Topdressing with fine sand is one of the best things a super can do. Oh well, I should be watching this tournament on a black and white TV.
  18. Ben Crenshaw. Age is getting him now but in his day he could play. I also like Larry Nelson. You can tell I am one of the old ones here. jp
  19. Henrik Stenson -10 Justin Rose -10 Louis Oosthuizen -11
