  1. Clever. But in all honesty, would the Cameron improve my putting EONS better than my Ping Anser? They're both the same form factor, except one has an insert and the other doesn't.
  2. Oh well. I can honestly think of better ways to spend $350. At Stanford, that's 16.5 rounds of golf.
  3. You might think that's incredibly brilliant, but consider my office is my house. :( I work from home. Haha.
  4. The wife-to-be will use it to break my arms.
  5. How can I give a review when I don't even own one?
  6. Every time I visit this forum, I see that damned putter staring at me in the face on the upper right corner. "BUY ME". "HOLE EVERY PUTT WITH ME." I don't know why I'm so drawn to its siren call. I putt just fine with my Ping. Please, for the sake of my wallet, take the ad off. DISCLAIMER: I'm just kidding. Don't ban me.
  7. ^ Har har har. I used to drive 230-240 with roll. Now, it's awful. Last weekend, not a single one of my drives went past 150 yards. They went 150 yards and 100 yards right. :( I'm going to nip this problem in the bud as soon as possible. I'm pretty sure it's the over the top swing problem.
  8. Mine is when a ball sits high on deep rough and I'm 30-40 yards from the green and I need to use a open wedge (green is uphill with a bunker in front). Basically, what happens is that the clubface actually goes completely underneath the ball and the ball flies maybe half of what it was supposed to do. Not sure how to handle that since I can't use the bounce of the wedge.
  9. Pretty good! I've done a 52. Can't wait for 09 to come out.
  10. Definitely quite possible. I need to take a video of myself if I'm going to make any progress. I need to see the problems myself, not have a pro look at them for $100 and then tell me what's wrong - it won't register in my head.
  11. GO CARDINAL! In all seriousness, we'll see if Stanford can pull through from a 6th ranking. They did win last year, after all. :)
  12. My old swing did work, but it did not incorporate the proper mechanics of golf. I knew this, this is why I'm changing it. I slid my hips, bent my wrist, and on my driver, sat way way too far from the ball. I'm not going to go back to it. I couldn't if I wanted to anyway. Hahaha.. Breaking 80's is my ultimate goal - and compete in some amateur tournaments that are organized through my work. We discussed a lot, not only just the wrist. Shoulder rotation, hip rotation, wrist position, head position, the fundamentals of the one-plane swing. He also had me get Ben Hogan's Lessons. Next time I go to the range, I'm going to try Vijay's glove under the left arm drill. Basically, it was a lot to take on, but I want to kick this problem in the ass and get back down to my 80's pace before summer starts.
  13. You want to look for videos on the ONE PLANE swing. Also, get the book, Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: Fundamental Lessons of Golf. It's about $12 or so.
  14. I'm in a horrible slump. I haven't broken 90 in 6 rounds, but my short game is fine. It's my long game that is suffering. My swing is all over the place right now, and my driver has the slice of death on it and has absolutely no distance because of the slice. My long balls all have slices on them, and I frequently lose balls due to.. you guessed it, the slice. One lesson did this to me - basically told me to keep my wrist completely flat. I don't know if i should stick with trying to fix the consistiency problems myself or go back to get another lesson. Basically, I was playing in the mid to high 80's when I decided to go get a lesson. I went to the range for 2 weeks and didn't play a round and just practiced. I think part of the problem is that I'm swinging outside to inside. I just don't know anymore. I'm just frustrated and I just wanted to vent. The game is still fun. :)
  15. Lowest round ever has been done by 3-4 people, IIRC, and that's a 59. No lower has ever been recorded in official play. ... Then there are the 19th hole stories. "Durrr, I shot a 52 at TPC Sawgrass from the championship tees!" ... etc.
  16. I agree about NOT putting the club down in a hazard as it allows you to test the sand, but it's one of the most annoying rules for me, IMO. Grounding my club allows me to relax my grip, and quite frequently, I will skull it because i was hovering it too high. I just need to learn how to hover it properly. Everything else, I wouldn't change. The OB stroke + distance rule? Don't hit it OB. If I am in a casual foursome, we treat OB as a lateral hazard and drop from where it crossed. Stanford does not really have OB stakes though (the white stakes), just reds. However, Stanford's OB is quite gnarly, lots of tall grass, weeds, dry pebbly ground. I'd rather take a stroke penalty and hit it from a better lie... IF I CAN FIND THE BALL.
  17. Lostgolfballs.com 4 dozen Pro V1's for $70 shipped, got them in AAA+ quality. Balls are near perfect.
  18. The guy needs to fix his driver though.
  19. Wow. What a finish. He was tied with Pampling up to the last 3, then Pampling bogied 17 with a horrible tee shot and a great sand save. Phil cut his tee shot into the left rough amongst a stand of trees, then hit an incredible shot onto the green from 8 feet, and sank the putt to win it, while Pampling made his par. Most entertaining 72nd I've seen so far this season.
  20. I think the only time I would ever try this is if the ball was floating on a cloud of the softest, most gentle rough - almost like God's tee.
  21. If you carry it 215, your swing speed is probably higher than 85 mph...
  22. I've only lofted one into the cup. Had too much club on it, but I got lucky. I've never hit a hole-in-one. I have one eagle to my record. on TV - the Players' Championship circa mid-90's, I'll never forget Fred Couples' shot after he put it into the drink. The ball didn't EXACTLY jar the cup, it took a small chunk out of the cup lip and went straight in. Crazy shot though, he saved par on that one.
