I just picked up a new pair of Adidas Adicross II shoes and I picked up a R1 Driver used on Kijiji the same day to replace my R9. No I just need this damn snow to go away!

I would say that you were totally in the right. As everyone has mentioned above, all the clues pointed to the fact that he was moving on to the next hole. I understand him leaving the flag in to have a target, but at the very least he could have left his bag by the green or alerted you in some kind of way. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thanks Matt! Thanks for those videos. I'll have to try those exercises on the range. I think I may bend my wrist a little when I shoot so that would be something to keep in mind. I'll post a video once I get a chance to either hit the range or clear some snow so I can actually swing my driver.

I've had a very high ball flight pretty much since I've been playing golf and I think I'm finally at the point where I'd like to try and lower it. I think it will give me more options on the course. I was using a R9 10.5 Stiff Shaft and closed the face as much as I could go. This helped a little but I'm sure there is a way I could change the height with tweaking my swing or swing path. I feel like I'm losing distance as I don't get very much roll and it totally affects my game when it's windy. This is the same for all my clubs, I'm happy with the height for my wedges and short irons but would like to lower it for my woods, hybrids and long irons. I've just upgraded my driver to a R1 8.5 Stiff Shaft. At the store they told me I had a swing speed of 105-107mph and my height would range from 14.5 - 18 depending on how well I hit the shot. I know I do have a tendency not fully transfer my weight forward and finish on my back foot. My ball flight is definitely higher when I do that but even with a proper weight transfer it's still quite high. Does anyone have any ideas on ways to correct this?

I've founf that I play my best golf when I'm alone. For some reason having to wait and chat with others affects my mojo when I'm on the course. I simply feel more focused. At the same time though, it is a lot of fun to play with other people who are of the same/better caliber as it pushes you to dial your game in.

I wouldn't, just because, well it's for women. I can hear it now. You hit a putt that's too short " Don't forget your purse." I just believe that there are so many options out there that I'm sure you'll be able to find something in the mens section. But if you really like and you don't care, why not?

I'll pass on the snow... We just had another 25cm over the past few days. It's actually been the second coldest winter EVER since they've been recording temperatures. Yeah, it's been that effing cold. Picture this: -30 Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit) which has been a staples this winter and that's not including windchill. Our coldest day was -50 Celsius (-58 Fahrenheit) with the wind chill. We were even colder than the planet Mars on that day... I dropped my handicap last year from a 17.5 to a 14 but funny as it may sound, I don't feel like I "know" a lot more about golf. Which is something I plan to change this year. Looks like I'll have tom find myself an Ernest too...

Well this thread may have finally helped me break out of my cocoon! I've posted a few times but nothing really substantial. I have, many times, wanted to ask questions or even chime in but I guess I simply didn't want to mow anyone's grass or ask a question that's already been answered a million times. Must say it actually feels nice to break the ice again, so to speak, as I plan to break 80 this year on regular basis (wishing hoping) as I'll have a lot more time to spend on the golf course this year with my new job (I get summers off) and a membership at a nice course near by. So I know to break 80 there will be a lot of questions as to what I can do to improve. I look forward to posting more and getting the chance to have some great discussions. Cheers, Lee

That's kind of what I was going for by giving him the clubs. He wants to try them out so ill let him, but I'll also make sure that if he's not hitting them well to guide him to some more forgiving clubs. Aside from Mizuno MX-11's, do you recommend any other good starting clubs that have enough forgiveness?

He doesn't really have a solid swing, a little awkward, but he is planning on getting some lessons. I just don't want to make it too hard on him as he was planning on getting a new set of forgiving irons.

I think it's all a matter of personal preference and situational circumstance. I've been fortunate enough to never have had to buy a set of irons as of yet. The only clubs I've purchased have been my R9 driver, R11 3W and White Ice putter. The reason for that is my dad, who has a 5 handicap, always gave me his old clubs when he upgraded. The fist hand me down set were some Accuform II's which, if my memory serves me right, were cavity backs. I played those for a around 5 years, 5-10 times a season. Then I got the Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II which are a muscle back. I was hitting the ball much better and my swing was more consistent with the Accuforms but I was in for a wake up call. I noticed a big difference in my game as it took me a while to learn to hit these clubs properly. My swing had to improve and once it did my game as a whole got more consistent, especially achieving good contact. I was able to figure out what I did wrong because of the lack of forgiveness in comparison to the Cavity backs. I was still playing around 10-15 times a season. Then last year my dad upgraded once again and he gave me some Mizuno MP-32's which again gave a bit of a wake up call. One little mistake and you see it. I like that though as it proves to be a solid challenge and got me hooked enough that I'm getting my first membership so I can get to the next level. My handicap is currently at 17.5 and my goal is to bring down to somewhere around 10 and hope to break out of the 80's for the first time. I don't think I could have gotten to where I am today by hitting forgiving clubs as with blades it lets you know right away when your doing something wrong and forces you to correct it. I guess it's to each their own but I feel it can help your game more than hinder it. I think that it was all part of my dads master plan for my golf game lol.

Thanks for the insight guys. I figure ill let him give them a try and see how it goes. If they don't work for him the he can simply buy a new set that's more forgiving. He was planning on buying a set around $800. With that budget, which clubs do you think he should buy?

I have an old set of Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II that I'm looking at potentially giving to my father in law so he can upgrade his current, very old school, clubs. He doesn't have a proper swing, yet, but plans on eating a membership this year to improve and was wondering if these would be too much of a club for him. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks in advance FYI I upgraded to some Mizuno MP-32's and I love them, when I'm playing well lol

I'm a licensed Plumber/Gasfitter and an avid amateur photographer with hopes to transition the amateur to full time when the timing is right. It would also allow for more flexibility to play golf in the summer.

Hi, I just recently found this site and really liked what I saw and decided to join. This year I'll be buying my first membership and really want to work on my golf game and hope to work my way down into the 70's!
