Wait a minute - Your nephew is a 6'10" SOPHOMORE in HS, and can dribble with either hand, but was not allowed to try out? I find this hard to believe - such a player is so rare at the HS level that he would be welcomed with open arms by any coach. In fact, someone with that height and ballhandling skills would almost guarantee that school will go deep into their state tournament.
If he is really all that, and he's white, he is guaranteed a scholarship at a Div 1 school, for basketball. And would probably get drafted into the pros. 6'10" guys who can handle the ball are NOT a dime a dozen! Think Scottie Pippen or Tony Kukoc from Jordan's Chicago Bulls teams.
