  1. After someone hits into heavy, nasty rough. "you're in Lion Country. If you find it, you're lying."
  2. I just picked up two Mizuno MP-T wedges and, so far, I like them a lot. They give better feel than what they replaced, which was a Vokey 52 and a Cleveland 56 (both of which were first-purchase used wedges). I have noticed the most improvement out of sand, which I seem to get into all too frequently.
  3. Ping Karsten B60 Ping B61 Ping Ally 3 Titleist Bullseye The original Fat Lady and a couple of other OLD inherited curiosities I've never played with.
  4. If you are relatively comfortable with your irons and are working on your swing, I suggest working on your short game. A good short game will help make up for fairway "difficulties," and when that's under control, help you score better! I found early on when learning the game that a poor short game added insult to injury. Good luck!
  5. Another vote for the 8 bounce. If your sand wedge has about twice that bounce it will cover the heavy stuff for you. Vokey is a good choice!
  6. How did the Callaway or Pings feel relative to your current irons? Are you comfortable with your current swing? There is one school of thought that you shouldn't fit clubs to a problematic swing. Get comfortable with a repeatable swing and then get fitted. It sounds like you are open to advice -- what are the fitters telling you? You are going about it the right way, though. Good luck!
  7. The local golf store owner said that about 28 tour pros are using the spider. I did notice that Goydos was using one in the Player's. They are interesting - and flying off the shelves around here....
  8. "How does he hit it? Pures on the nose?" Franco, Yes he does. They travel far and straight.
  9. Yes and No. It seems everytime I get a new putter, there is a short term improvement. It must be the "thrill" of a new putter and the increased attention paid to putting, especially when it is a different style putter or face. The real test is continued success with a new putter. That being said, I have settled on a Ping Karsten B-60, having moved from a Ping B-61. One thing I haven't tried yet is a different length putter. Hmmmm.
  10. My Dad bought one at a yard sale a while ago as a curiosity. Now he just carries it with him when he takes walks in the neighborhood to keep dogs away. Does that count?
  11. Mizuno MP-T 56/10 wedge. Sweet.
  12. Good choice! I say that because I went through just about the same process. The G10s and the MX-25 were my final choices. The TaylorMade Burner XDs were also in there but didn't feel as nice. I went with the G10s, also. They are arriving on Monday. Congratulations on "our" choice.
  13. Is your stance perhaps less "upright" since you were fitted? The nice thing is that you can have them shortened, if needed, but not lengthened. I was just "custom fit" and ordered clubs 1/2" longer as well. Don't have them yet, so I may have a different opinion soon....
  14. Well, I am anxiously awaiting a set of Ping G10 irons to be made and delivered. Replaces a set of Titleist DCI Oversizes I bought used many years ago. Although here in Florida the seasons sort of run together...
