  1. Thanks Everado, you really made some good points here! It seems as though you were next to me while I was at the launch monitor. My cousin had the same advice for me and I just didn't want to listen. His swing speed is about 103 and he uses a regular flex tipped stiff on all of his drivers. I didn't want to admit it, but I think you are right about the ego thing. It does play a part in chosing the kind of equipment we play with. I will see if I can try out a 905R with a regular shaft tipped stiff. Here are a couple of rookie questions again..."high" "mid" or "low/mid" bend point on a shaft - what does that mean? ...also, "high", "mid" , "low/mid" launch angle on a shft - what does that mean? I just need to be clarified.
  2. Anyone hear anything about the new Aldila VS Proto shaft coming out in April? I am very interested in the specs that this shaft comes in.
  3. This is a really good idea Rafcin...Going to a place like this will really help me a lot. I already know the driver I want and trying that driver with different shaft and different flexes will definitely put me on the right track. Golfsmith and Roger Dunns are very limited, I don't know a place with that many options specially on drivers...and YES I have Aldila shafts on the top of my list.
  4. I was with a cousin of mine, who is very knowledgeable about equipment, and a rep from the store. You are absolutely right about the different flex points of shafts. The Mitsubishi Rayon Bassara has a low/mid kick point and the Fujikura TP has the same low/mid kick point...I hit the Bassara (on a 9.5* driver head) with a higher launch angle than the Fujikura TP (on a 10.5* driver head). That just tells me that the shaft makes a big difference and not so much the loft of the driver. I am also not sure if the larger head had something to do with the higher ball flight that I was getting. I'm not sure if a stiff shaft promotes a lower trajectory than a regular shaft. I am now torn between getting a regular or stiff shaft. The rep was saying that I should definitely be getting a stiff shaft (according to my stats) but I was getting better results on the driver with the regular shaft. My swing speed was calibrated at 95mph, with that said, what are the advantages and disadvantages if I were to get a regular shaft or stiff shaft?
  5. Okay, I finally did it. I went to Nevada Bobs yesterday and jumped on the launch monitor. I spent over an hour hitting my current driver (905T 10.5* w/ fujikura tour platform 26.3 stiff shaft) and the driver that I am very intersted in (905R 9.5* w/ mitsubishi rayon bassara 63 'regular' flex). The launch monitor clearly stated that I was getting a much better result with the 905R w/ the regular flex...better launch angle, longer 'carry' (7-yards more), my ball had little to no fades. My swing speed was consistently between 94-97mph, and the ball speed was consistently between 133-135mph. I was a little bit suprised that I was getting better results with a lighter shaft with a regular flex compared to my fujikura TP . I now don't know whether I should put a regular flex or a stiff flex on my 905R. I have a Big Bertha 454ti 10* driver w/ a stock shaft in regular flex and it never worked out for me. My drives with this driver were slicing and short This is the reason why I am a little hesitant in going with a regular flexed shaft. I am so confused now. All the reps at the store were recommending a stiff flexed shaft for me but now I am I am thinking of getting a regular shaft. What to do...what to do !?!?!?!?
  6. That's exactly the shaft I was looking for, but since you offered it to the xd3 first, i will give him some time to respond. If he doesn't respond, i would love to put that shaft on the 905R that I have purchased. I'm located in California so it shouldn't cost that much to ship.
  7. I agree, $100 will buy you a really nice shaft. here are some prices online for the more popular shafts aldila nv - $ 87.00 fujikura tour platform - $87.00 (this is the one i use) graphite design ys6 - $80.00 graffaloy pro launch - $60.00
  8. Thanks jeff, I was at the driving range today all my hits where closer to the heel. The feel is great and it goes really straight and high. Nice to know that I am actually hitting it on the sweet spot. I still had a few hosel rockets...really weird, so i slowed down my swing again and kept my lower body still on my back swing, and I was back on track. This 735s are really nice clubs and I am very happy that I am able to hit it. Ofcourse it will take time for me to get use to it.
  9. I wear a glove from driver to putter. My left hand is white and the rest of my body is tanned. LOL. Anyways, for me, wearing a glove gives me a little more connection with the club. It gives me a sense of control, especially over putting. I was putting with out a glove before and I just couldnt keep the putter steady.
  10. I started noticing that with my new irons as well (735cm). The ball impact is closer to the heel than before, and at times I actually hit a hossle rocket. This happens when I get too quick on my back swing and when the ball is a little too far from me. I slowed my back swing down and placed the ball slighly closer to me, much better results!
  11. Last Sunday (2/26/06): 80 with 23 putts ! Whittier Narrows Golf Course (Rosemead, CA) - long par 72 course Played my second round with the Thunderbirds Golf Club. Shot a +4 on the front 9 - with a penalty stroke taken for an unplayable lie - really unlucky here! (HOLE # 3 - 534 yard par 5 -pulled my drive to the left and ended up inside a small bush tree, had to pick up and drop. 2nd shot with my 19*wood was perfectly placed about 100 yards from the pin. 3rd shot with gap wedge was a little fat and ended up in the green side bunker...was able to get up and down from there - BOGIE!) Shot a +4 on the back 9 - with a double bogie on the 15th hole - bad chip (HOLE # 15 - 390 yard par 4 - missed my drive and sent the ball soaring up in the sky and landed about 200 yards. I had 190 yards left, slightly up hill so I got my 19* wood and was able to hit it pin high but left side of the green, had a simple chip but got underneath the ball and never made the green, arrgghhh! ...chipped again and made a 6 foot putt - DOUBLE BOGIE!!!!) Despite of the mistakes, i was still able to shoot a very solid round of 80 on this day w/ 23 putts. I was really proud of my putting .... 23 PUTTS !!!!!! I really didn't speak much on this day since I really didn't know anybody. A few "good drive!" or "good shot!" but other than that I was very quiet. This maybe a key for me in shooting a solid round. I was really focused on every shot I made. Now if I can only improve my Greens Hit in Regulation, I'd be set! par, bogie, bogie, par, par, par, par, bogie, bogie = 40 par, par, par, bogie, par, double bogie, bogie, par, par = 40
  12. This bag is the New 2006 Japan issued Titleist Cart Bag CB615 RD. I saw it on ebay while surfing for a cart bag. It is the only one I've seen so far online. The seller said that he will be auctioning off a black and white one sometime next month. It's a bit pricey so I don't know if I really want to purchase it. Below is the link for this item on ebay. The highest bid at the moment is $355.00, you still have 18 hours left to bid on it . If you ever get a hold of this bag for a reasonable price, please let me know, I want it! P.S. - Erik , Is that the Titleist Dri/Hood Towel you have? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT
  13. Thanks Eric. Now if only I can find this bag in black and white and for a reasonable price.
  14. In my bag !!! - I got this idea from Eric. I guess might as well show off the toys. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...c-f17e3dc19ce6
  15. Thanks Jeff, I have been to a launch monitor but never really got the whole 9 yards. I just monitored my swing speed. At the moment, I am playing with a 905T 10.5deg driver w/ a Fujikura Tour Platform 26.3 stiff shaft - tipped stiff. I get a mid ball flight with this combination. I definitely have to get all the data next time I step on a launch monitor. Since I know that shafts could be custom fitted, I was looking for more input on the feel of the different shafts that are available out there.
  16. you are right jeff, the NV shaft is one of the best out there. my brother in law has that on his 3 wood and I absolutely love the feel...the speeder fairway on my 5 wood is awsome as well. actually that is the deadliest club in my bag. i just don't know if the speeder 757 is good on a driver. i do find it a tad heavy on my 5 wood.
  17. Titleist is like sex...'once you go titleist, you will never go back". It all started January this year, My cousin knows a Titleist rep and got me a really great deal with the 905T (fujikura tour platform shaft 26.3- stiff). ...thats one purchase this year Then i went and tried out his 904f 3wood (fujikura tour platform shaft 27.3 - stiff) and never gave it back, ofcourse I paid for it. ...thats 2 purchases this year. Then I went and bought a TaylorMade Rescue Dual 19* hybrid, but never really liked it, so I bought a 904f 5wood (fujikura speeder shaft - stiff). ....thats 4 purchases this year I needed to upgrade my irons because swing out grew my Cleveland TA7's already. Ofcourse theres only one way to go and that's Titleist. I just recently bought the Titleist 735cm's (dgs stiff) just last week, feels good to have matching woods and irons. ...thats 5 purchases this year. I already was thinking of changing putters to either the Titleist RED X. My cousin just called me and he said the 905s are already available. Titleist just keeps rocking my world. I am totally Titleist whooped!!! They make really good stuff. I forgot to mention that last month I purchased 3 new CG10 wedges - thats a total of 6 purchases this year and it's only March.
  18. What brand shafts do you guys think would be good for a driver. I have tried the Aldila NV shaft, Fujikura Tour Platform, and Fujikura Speeder 757 shafts and they are all great. I am thinking of putting a Speeder 757 stiff on my 905R but not 100 percent sure...I also like the Aldila NV shaft. Now I am torn between them. Need feedbacks on the feel on any of the better shafts that are available out there. Thanks Eric, have you written any reviews on shafts at all?
  19. Ben, your sticks are so beautiful. I was thinking of buying those but went with these instead =)
  20. I really like the Tour Velvets as well. I want to look for similar grips as the Tour Velvets but haven't found one yet. By the way, my new sticks came today and they have chord grips. I guess I will try that first and see if they are to my liking. These 735s look to good to play with. Eric was right about these clubs...look's and feel = CONDOM!!!!
  21. I have Golf Pride rubber grips on my TA7s. My ball flight has a lower trajectory than most and I do find myself aiming left of the flag most of the time. I didn't know that there are undersized grips available out there, I will look into that. The New Decade looks good and I like the idea of having rubber in the lower hand, I will check that out as well. The full cord grips that came with the 735s just felt hard and skinny and I believe they are standard size. It feels like I dont have control of my grip everytime I swing the club. This is probably one of the reasons why I never considered undersized grips. I do like the control feel of rubber grips, but I've only tried the Tour Velvet by Golf Pride. I also like the feel fo the Winn V17 G8 AI but not sure if it's the best choice. I know preference will be key, but your feedback will help a lot.
  22. I need feedback on some of the grips that are available out there. I am looking to regrip my irons and need to know which ones I should consider. The Titleist 735's, that I have, came with chord grips that I can never get use to. I live in California, so playing conditions are almost always perfect for golf. I wear a Men's small in gloves.
  23. Now that I have my new Titleist 735cm chromes...I am looking to upgrade my Ping Answer putter. I know this putter is great and worth every penny. The cheapest I have found it so far is $239.00 no tax/free ship. Any of you guys know where I can get it cheaper, maybe closer to $200.00? Thanks.
  24. Thanks hansmixer. I'm sure I will enjoy these new irons whether or not I break 85. I really can't wait to get them and start working on my swing. I know I definitely need to make adjustments with these irons. If I get a chance I'll post my first score card with these irons.
  25. wow...i want to see pictures!!! im sure if it looks good..it will be a seller. don't forget to post pictures eric!!!!
