  1. I appreciate the list (really do), but was thinking along the lines of the rules for tournaments and what not. Realizing that may not be the responsibility of the caddie, but wanting to know them for the players I will be with.
  2. Short story - I have a new job that does not start for several months and through some contacts may caddie at a course for the spring. I have been reading through the rules kes/decisions, but am curious what everyone thinks of the essential rules, common scenarios, etc that a caddie may come into?
  3. Yes, so he is 'withdrawing,' which means he does not finish second and take home the winnings. He is now withdrawn and at the bottom of the table. Is this correct?
  4. One of my favorite tournaments for the 'home' aspect of it, but I have never liked the TV coverage. It's always limited to towers on the 7th, and then 15-18. I am a fan of 6, of course 8, 12, and 14 and you do not see those until Sunday.
  5. The trees seem to rarely affect shots, but that definitely changes the look of the hole. If they are going to plant a new tree I would also like to see them re-plant on the 6th the cypress that fell a few years ago.
  6. I want to go with first time winners.... And Tiger. Masters - Kuchar US - Tiger Open - Spieth PGA - Dustin Johnson (or Bobby Watson)
  7. Recently moved from Monterey to D.C. and am in the same boat of looking for an instructor. No rush as I probably will not look for lessons until the weather warms, but keep us updated on whether or not you find someone. I also need to find a good range to practice at. I was a little spoiled in Monterey, and so far it seems like there are not many options around here at all.
  8. Same here. I guess I would rather be dry and have those to hits, then just fall in and do something worse.
  9. I agree. Its part of the game. Also, I could be wrong, but isn't there a standard (as in a rule) amount of time they are allowed to warm up following a delay?
  10. Horrible. Have to feel bad for the guy. If it goes to a playoff might have to cheer for Kaymer tomorrow just because I feel bad for him now.
  11. I'm ok with watching three holes tomorrow.
  12. He usually doesn't take this long. Seemed really unsure of his putting today.
  13. Tough hole for Kaymer. Will be interesting now.
  14. I agree, it depends on the interpretation of "earn," or "make it," as Watson said. If he means that literally, i.e., Tiger has to qualify and will not be a captain's pick than obviously that will be harder to do. But if it simply means get back playing and perform well enough to "earn" a captain's pick, then that is completely ambiguous. Slightly OT but along the same lines - Tiger has had plenty of Ryder Cups. I would still prefer to see him come back, but at this point if I had to choose him earning a spot on either the Ryder Cup team or in the Olympics, I would rather see him in the Olympics. I think he has earned that. Unfortunately there is no wiggle room there though, and he has to qualify.
  15. I agree - not that it will stay that way, but that we have no idea. Obviously it can be fun to speculate, but the reality is there are too many variables and too many players to know. Every sport has athletes who produce HOF numbers 1-2 years and then go away. That might not be the case with Rory or Spieth, but who knows. I think we are always quick to take young players who have performed well, and make them way more than they are. Rory and Spieth have the potential, but anything could change. Norman has two Open Championships.
  16. Working on address and backswing only. Any better on posture? I noticed my body is swaying towards target in the FO view, and moves slightly down/forward on DTL. I feel like at address the shaft to arm angle is really high, almost straight. Of course I have seen the billion Tour Angle 144 commercials, and my angle is like 160+ Is this too high? If so, the only way to go lower is toe up at address (unless I get my clubs adjusted).
  17. I agree. While it's nice to have a round to watch on Monday, it is anti-climatic. 3-4 holes and finishing on Sunday is much better.
  18. Sunset time is roughly 8:10pm there. They should be able to get it in. If there are too many people tied, or it goes past the three holes then yes. I would imagine that went into the discussion, and they concluded it was ok.
  19. I think this is better if for no other reason, if there is a playoff we get to watch these three holes again. http://www.pgatour.com/news/2014/04/16/players-playoff-format.html
  20. Welcome to the site. I am relatively new here too (and to the game), and am not good at recognizing priority pieces and cannot specifically say what is causing push hits. That said, I can offer what I see for what it is worth. It appears that you are all arms on the back swing with little shoulder rotation. Try rotating your upper torso more, and keeping your arms in front of you. Along the same lines, your back swing looks a little flat to me. Rotate your left should down more to increase that angle a little. The clubhead also appears to go inside quickly. I think the torso rotation and steeper shoulder turn will help with this. I think there may be a few set-up things to address - less knee bend, chin and eyes down, but the set-up is something I am working on too, so I will not say anymore as I do not have that down. Again, take that for what it is worth. Sorry I do not have much time to grab screen shots right now, but some more seasoned guys and the pros will come along eventually and offer more - possibly even say ignore what I said ;) which is more than fine. Just trying to learn along with everyone else.
  21. A few of my caddie friends have said that they often advise players to hit their second up the hill (towards the eight fairway, but not all the way up) when around the left side of the fairway - just so that they can see the green for a then third shot. Again, I have not played it, but it seems that without the Cyprus tree as a reference point the second shot is a lot harder.
  22. I film at least a few swings every time at the range. And, I am yet to see anyone else filming their swings (including 3-4 instructors) at the two ranges I go to.
