  1. A lot more goes into shaft selection then swing speed…..go get fitted.
  2. I've played with a bunch of 8 hdcp's over my years, some were good and some terrible. If the guy established his "8" on a cow pasture with flat greens Torrey will eat his lunch….I'll give him the benefit of doubt and say he's going to break 100. 3. My "go-to" shot is a draw, especially with my driver + that is my natural flight. However, like most of you, I'll shape my shots as needed. Also prefer a low-mid ball flight.
  4. Ditto that.....XCG is ridiculously long
  5. New member, haven't had time to view all topics.
  6. How many of you purchase equipment based on loyalty to a particular brand or manufacturer?
  7. This is just one golfers opinion so take it for what it's worth: As a life-long Ping player I ended going to the dark side up buying the 755s last year. This is the first full season since 94 that I'm playing some "other" brand. I can comment on both clubs. The biggest difference that I noticed was the ball flight. The i10's had a much more penetrating, low flight then the 755's. Both have minimal offset. Both have fairly thin top lines (not too thin). Both are forgiving but the miss hits were not completely muted. I liked both clubs but it boiled down to aesthetics and ball flight. The i10's just seemed to knock the ball down too much and the 755 were more appealing to me. Sorry, can't comment on the Mizuno's or R7's.
  8. I played Ping irons for close to 22 years and just recently switched to Titleist. Ping has the best customer service in the industry.
  9. I played for a D3 college. Not sure how it works now but 18 years ago they flipped the bill for everything (except clubs).
  10. This is kind of a subjective question though. My league course is tight and short with large greens (lots of 3 irons off the tee), most of the tournaments courses I play average close to 7000 yds which brings my driver into play a lot more. I do not keep this stat however I could guesstimate 55-60% fairways and 65-70% GIR. 6 out of 7 last round and 9 of 9 greens though.
  11. The Callaway X and Cleveland HiBore XLS have extremely large face areas. The Clevland comes in a 13* loft which may be a good alternative to use off the tee.
  12. Greenside performance? I completely disagree, I have found the e5+ to perform as good (if not better) then any other ball on the market.
  13. Yep, good customer service over there. They are also in my bag.
  14. Green box Nike power distance balls are NOTHING like the proV. They feel soft but they generate -ZERO- spin and seem to balloon. I played Srixon Soft Feel balls last year. Good ball but, IMO, there are better out there for the $20 price tag. Try the e5+
  15. For me, no question I keep the 3 wood in my bag. I use a 17* hybrid instead of a 5-wood though.
  16. The Hi-bore line of drivers were made for high launch/low spin. If you are having trouble getting the ball in the air I will bet a round of golf a regular stock Fuji shaft will help. I agree with the previous posters…..way too many people have egos that hinder their play. Example, I've played with many 20+ hdcp golfers that insist on stiff to x-stiff shafts on their 9* drivers. They look like "players" when they show up to the first tee but they do not have the tools to make the club perform as it was meant to. The flex, kick point, etc have a lot more to do with launch then swing speed. I play with several guys that have a triple digit swing speeds that use regular flex shafts. I suggest going to your local pro shop and get the proper fit.
  17. E5+....best bang for the buck IMO.
  18. I play several times per week between the months of April-October and hit thousands of balls at the range each year. Over the last 15 years I have owned 5 new sets of irons. I do believe that the grooves get worn which will impact the overall clubs performance (especially on your short irons). I change my wedges at least every 2 years.
  19. "Today's iron set doesn't come close to resembling yesterdays, tomorrow's will be just as different…….innovative thinking will mark the future" E. Michael Stanley This quote says a lot of things to me. Today's latest and greatest game improvement irons and drivers are leaps and bounds above the clubs you currently have in your bag. Go to your local pro shop and demo a few…..you will be amazed at what technology can do for your game. Hit as many as you can one day, go back and hit some more, third time is a charm.
