  1. So finally Sabbatini pulled one through, impressive it being over Furyk and Langer. Personally I couldn't watch any of the rounds, but a 62 on the third round has GOT to be impressive. Not the most well-loved pro on the course, I count as one of his fans. A final 15-footer drained dead-center to take it, and I missed it! Aaaargh!! But wouldn't it have been funny if he was in the playoff with Ben Crane...
  2. It's a new habit I've recently developed, seems to be helping me ease my swing, as I feel I am (was) trying to crunch every ball lately. It's quite simple actually. Right before I start my swing, I whisper one word to myself. "... Ernie... " It works for me ;-P
  3. Do sucky golfers count as well... ? If yes, count me in! Living in Vereeniging, I've played some courses in and around Jhb / Vaal. Glenvista, Riviera CC, Crown Mines, Maccauvlei, Royal Oak, Kempton.
  4. ... give up snowboarding... ;-P
  5. I hope any such a choke will be accompanied by a back 9 of -7 to take the cup, by a young gun... ok, this is fantasy league stuff, but it would be great if it's Tiger choking, and Sergio Garcia burning the course.
  6. Schlyer, thanks for noticing another thing I did not. I went through the rest of the recording, and you are right. As you said, another quirk to think about Sharkgolf, something you said about my golf buddy's swing struck a chord, it was the long arm extension on the backswing. I had another look at my recording, and it seems I'm trapping my right elbow on my backswing badly! Popped in at the driving range quickly last night, hit 50 balls just concentrating on that, and I definitely feel more comfortable with my *new* elbow positioning. Improved distance too. So this weekend I'm gonna try some of your tips. What you are saying makes sense. Might be a while before I get it right though Uhhhhhhhhhhh... that bit about sending you money... you'll have to settle for a christmas card...
  7. First off, thanks for the advice! Ya know, I had two video ports open on my PC, one with my swing, the other with his. I can tell that there are differences in the swing, but I can't pinpoint them, I am simply not technical enough. I realise that my weight shift is a HUGE problem at the moment (this week ) but I never saw the flatfoot impact position. It's as if I'm unbalanced after I made contact. What you are saying makes sense. As for the right knee going past the left knee, I didn't see that as a "positive" in my swing, I am trying to get rid of that (aaaaargh!) I think it's a result of too much movement in the shoulders through to the finish. **grinding of teeth** Ditto on the straight right leg... **more grinding** As for my golfing partner's swing, yup... does look good... Have to admit, he never gives advice unless I ask for it. Never. NEVER! Now THAT takes some doing wth a swing like mine (hehe). Golf etiquette anyone? Besides, he's married to my sister. If he beats me at a round, I have her beat him UP. So I always win
  8. Ok, so here goes, driving range, 7 iron, see for yourself. Wayyyyy too much movement in my opinion. Advice welcome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOXNS5PzTXo And then, just to finish with a happy thought, as opposed to ruining your day with MY video, here is my golfing partner with a driver. Sometimes I hate this guy purely for his swing . And his scratch handicap of course, but mostly his swing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pORtxUtI4-I
  9. *grumble grumble* ...Ernie, what were you doing... *grumble grumble* ... I oughta hngnhhngnggghhh... I certainly did not expect that one. Seemed Ernie was picking it up nicely again.... *grumble*
  10. In SA we play golf all year round. I know that is NOT what you want to hear right now , but I've been listening to all grumbles about the daaa-yum snow, and I now appreciate the fact that we have some awesome weather. Took it for granted previously, not anymore though... I got my Mizuno driver on a day that it rained. Rain kept up for two days, nearly drove me out of my mind! And that was only for TWO days! And I see no problem with a 10 hour roadtrip...
  11. We're kind of screwed here in South Africa. Our telco here is called Telkom, and they basically have a monopoly on the industry. Our bandwidth is capped at 3GB a month, at a cost of roughly US$65. Oh, and I should mention that this is at a speed of 512kb. So how much bandwidth do you use on average in any given month, and in which country are you? At what price?
  12. Being a high handicapper, I buy what suits my game, primary concern being to reduce spin on approach shots. I can't control the spin on PV1's or the like. Lately I've been alternating between Callaway Big Bertha Red and the Nike MoJo's. Nice soft feel to the ball, but not as much spin off the wedges. The BB Red lasts a bit longer than the MoJo's though, not as easily scuffed, but my driver is a bit longer with the MoJo's.
  13. Gotta be my 8 iron. It's the club I'm most comfortable at adress with. Lot of players favour their eight iron it seems? Maybe it's just the right length to be comfortable with?

    Golf or Sex?

Sex. No, golf. No, sex rather. No, I'm going with golf. Sex. Golf. Sex! Golf! ... AAAAARgh!
  15. ... and then I find out that I already have some bad ingrain habits Thanks for the advice!
