It's all about your gaps. Some or should I say most will fill the gaps at the bottom of the bag wedges and such. Others will try and keep there gaps thru out there bag. It's all about you. I play 3 wedges and then a dri we 3 wood and 3 hybrid my irons are 4-p so it's all about your game

I'm sorry I didn't really give a club to look at. The ap1 is a real nice club. The jpx 825 pro is nice also. Should be able to pick either up used in that range depending g on if you eBay or Amazon. Some shops may have some solid used sets in both models. Good luck and swing every club you can. It may surprise you on what you end up with. I went out with jpx ez irons and left with Adams idea super s. Again good luck.

Your 4 iron is about what a 3 iron used to be. The lofts have been jacked about a full club from the clubs of the 90s

I have hit both and like the stick shaft of Cleveland. Also I liked the fact that there were three different weights on the Cleveland so I got the one that felt the best to me. I went with the classic and will never look back. The sound of the classic is different then any driver I have hit but I like that. Good luck.

I played callys for awhile. Had bought 3 sets of them. I am now playing Adams super s iro s with the kbs shafts in them. Don't be afraid to think out of the box. You can also pick up some +1 inch clubs on occasion on eBay. But really if you have the option I would have o e of the pros fit you then order them. With that said if the standard clubs are really hindering your swing. Remember golf pros that work at courses that sell clubs will sell you clubs even if you don't need them. It's almost like car sales.

Club advice for the mid handicapper.

If your hitting your irons good no need to change. There is a YouTube video were Mark crossfield hits a project x 6.0 against a woman's graphite shaft. I would watch that video it will explain more then I can. But flex is not what everyone believes it is. But it is also a game of confidence so if it makes you feel better do it. -
In need of game improvement irons!

I would just keep playing what you have. And instead of getting clubs spend the mo ey on lessons. But if ya want a decent set fir cheap Callaway x14 are good starter set that can be had for about $100 in good shape. -
I liked the tt but ball flight was a little low for my eye. I'm not a real highball hitter so the mt def helped with that.

The problem is that Cleveland does not market like the big guns do. But once you get there eguipment in peoples hands they tend to love it. I was a Callaway guy and never thought I would like anything Cleveland until I tried the classic driver then it was the putter now it's the 588 mt irons. Yeah they are a little clunky but they do what I want and that's all that matters to me.

I believe Keegan Bradley does he also has a 588 mt in there somewhere lol

It's all about your swing. The ground does play into it but your swing had way more to do with the bounce then the ground imo

Taylormade R9 VS Callaway FT-5
spam replied to AchilliesNDS7's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would go with the r9. I really wish I would ha e never ditched that driver. But I had to have the Cleveland classic and the 10 yards I picked up well they do t show as much as I played in the shortgrass with the r9. Just remember it's not the distance off the tee it's the height of the grass you land in. Good luck and think of what one you like to look at more -
Surprised I fell in love with the R1...but happy I did

I wouldn't mess with the settings. If you were fit properly to that driver then I'm sure you won't get it any better. My buddy messed with his and really screwed up lol. He ended up going back and dialing it in with the club pro he bought it from. -
To the op there are last year's model irons all over eBay well within your price range just saw a set of rocketbladz 4-p for $329. I ordered a set of Cleveland 588 MT 3-p for $314. Try them out at a store then shop the web and see what you can get.

It's a goof idea to have all that checked when you get a set either new or used. Most used clubs are gonna be standard. The vast majority of players never truly get fitted. They Will go swing clubs and then buy the ones they like and never get a proper fitting. I have my lies checked atkeast one time a year lofts are not as much of a issue since I don't play a forged iron. And even with forged irons I hear you don't need your lofts checked as much.in a proper fitting they will size your grips shafts and lie angle. Make sure when you get fit you get the proper grip size. Grips are very underrated and be a huge issue if not the proper fit. A grip that is to small can cause hooks or even slices same goes with a grip that is to big.

The 825s are a sweet club my buddy plays them. I hit them when I first started looking for a new set.

Best previous model 3 woods that are still relevant
spam replied to dwade247's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The v steel is almost worth resahfting if you find anotherone -
Cleveland 588mt are a nice club. Forged face so you get the best of both worlds.you can also mix and match throughout the whole 588 line. Give them a swing if you like them they can be had fairly cheap on eBay. Then go have them fit and it's still cheaper then shelf price. Hit everything you can and then shoo for what you like.

Taylormade v steel I'm not sure when they were released. I wish I would have never gotten rid of that stick. Great all around 3wood. I am now playing a burner 1.0 3 wood and it's a great stick also. If I do come across another v steel in stiff I will own that club again lol
