Left-Handed Club Fitting?
BCEagles722 replied to BCEagles722's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the reply. I've looked at the Golfsmith fitting before, but I can't imagine it would be too reliable since it doesn't take into account any factors outside the basic measurements. -
So I'm getting a new driver and irons (Mizuno MX-560 and MP-57s), and want to get fitted for them. However, the problem is that I am a lefty, and so far I haven't found anywhere local (Greater Boston area) that carries either of the clubs I want available to be fit for. So my question is, is it possible to get fit for the Mizunos using different clubs, and then order my new clubs with those specs (shaft, loft, lie, etc)?

Yep, you're right. Just googled and it and what you said is correct. My bad. -
Golfsmith Online Purchase
BCEagles722 replied to FlopShotArtist's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What kind of shipping did you get? If it's UPS or FedEx Ground that can be 7-10 business days sometimes, so you shouldn't worry yet. And as for tax, I'm pretty sure for online sales you get taxed for whatever the sales tax is in the state it is being delivered to. If where you live has a sales tax, then that is why you got taxed. -
Rust on Bettinardi C-03 Putter
BCEagles722 replied to BCEagles722's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Anyone else? -
Recently I noticed a tiny spot of rust on the face of my putter, which has a chrome finish, but thought it was just isolated and wasn't a huge deal. Well now, a couple weeks later, there are five tiny rust spots on it. I'm assuming I got them due to moisture left on the face that was trapped in the head cover (I am now going to start doing a better job of wiping my putter down after every round). Is there any way to get rid of this? Would a commercial rust remover like CLR do the job, or would that be a bad idea to use on my putter? Also, will this affect the performance or feel of the putter in any way? I haven't noticed any difference so far, but if it keeps building up could it? Thanks for the help!

When I was around your son's age (I'm 19 now) my Dad really wanted me to play golf seriously, but understood that to me baseball was more important and never forced the game on me. Up until this year I focused on baseball and only played golf maybe 5-10 times a year. However, now that I'm in college and not playing baseball competitively I've started playing golf a lot more, and I can tell my Dad is really happy about it. I would say whatever you do, just don't force him to play. Encourage him to pursue whatever he wants, whether it be basketball, golf or something else. Just be patient and someday hopefully you will have a great playing partner.

I tired putting in a code a couple of times about a month ago but none went through. Somehow though I recieved two packages from Callaway yesterday, each with two sleeves. Haven't tried them out yet, but whether I love them or not, it's still a dozen free quality golf balls!

I've got a full set of left handed Golden Bear's with regular flex shafts that I got at The Sports Authority a couple years ago for around $300. This past winter I got all new clubs, so right now they're just sitting in the basement, but they are in pretty good condition. If you're interested PM me and we can try to work something out.

So I just got one of the groove sharpener tools from groovesharpener.com and it seems to work great, but I have a couple questions about it. First, should I only sharpen my 56* and 60* wedges, or should I also do my PW or all of my irons? Second, how do I know if I'm sharpening them too much or too little? I just sharpened my 56* and 60* by running the sharpener through the grooves twice. Is that good enough, or is there a way too tell if there done? Also, is it possible to do it too much, which would in turn make them illegal? Thanks guys!

need a lightweight bag
BCEagles722 replied to scooterguitar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Speaking of lightweight bags, has anyone tired the Titleist X81 Sunday Stand Bag of X80 Carry bag? I'm looking for a smaller bag just because it makes it easier to store in my dorm room at school, and this is the one I like most so far. Anyone out there have any input on either of these or other similar bags? -
Alright, thanks for the reply. GIR and putts would be the only ones affected because you have to put something in there, but I guess it's not a huge deal.

I understand it wouldn't be hard to keep track of if I used a scorecard, that's not what I'm saying. But for whatever reason I just don't like using a scorecard during my rounds, nothing more than that. For me to remember my first putt distance on every hole without using a scorecard would take too much concentration. But anyways back to my original question, would it be possible for you to make it so you can put an X (or something like that) in a stat on our scorecards so it doesn't count towards our overall stats? This could also be useful in case you didn't finish a round (i.e. weather problems, time constraints, etc) but still wanted to put the round into Scorecard with your stats being completely accurate.
-
I don't use a scorecard during a round if I'm playing at a course I'm familiar with, so when I get home to enter the scores I just put my stats in by memory. For stuff like score, GIR, putts, etc. it's easy for me to remember, but to remember the distance of each putt on every hole would take too much concentration when I should be focusing on my game. Don't worry though, this has nothing to do with Scorecard's ease of use of you as a developer. I guess I'll just have to start recording it on my scorecard if I want to remember.

Erik, question/suggestion about Scorecard. So far I haven't been recording first putt distance just because I haven't felt like figuring out the distance each time, but with the new features coming in v1.4 I'm contemplating starting to do it. However, the problem I will have is my stats will be completely skewed because I will have a pretty good amount of rounds with an average of 0 for first putt distance because nothing has been entered. Is there anyway that you could make it so we could put an X (or something like that) so it wouldn't record anything it to the stats? That way I could start doing keeping track of it now, and not have my overall stats be skewed.

How much golf gear can you fit in a Prius?
BCEagles722 replied to La Costa Golfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a prius and I can easily fit 2 stand bags in the trunk and pull the cover over them. If I don't use the cover, I can fit 4 in the trunk, though it's a little tight. -
Going to try to play Bethpage Black in August...
BCEagles722 replied to BCEagles722's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
What time of year did you go there? And it's the Wednesday and Friday before Labor Day weekend, so Friday it is probably going to be absolutely packed, right? I'll try to get there Tuesday night if I can, but if not if I got to Bethpage around 10 am Wednesday morning, what do you think my chances of getting out in time to get a full round in are? -
Have you ever played night golf? If not, give it a try, it's really fun.

Anyone have any suggestions on getting on to the Black course as a single? I am going to NYC for the Sox/Yankees game on 8/28 at 1 PM, so I could either play Wed late morning/afternoon or Friday morning. Which day do you those of you have played before recommend. I'm not from NY, so from everything I've read it's pretty hard to get a tee time, and my best chance is just to show up as earlier as I can and hope to get out. Does that sound about right, or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Earlier this year I decided I wanted to keep my golf statistics to show which part of my game are helping/hurting the most, but refused to spend any money on it. Well, at first I figured I could do it pretty easy using Excel, and after a few hours of tinkering with it, it kind of worked. However, after a few rounds I got sick of tinkering it a little every time and moved on to a few different free websites, which, again, worked alright, but weren't much better than Excel. Then, one night while reading this forum I started reading the Scorecard thread, and realized right away it was exactly what I was looking for (It looked even good enough to spend money on!) So, at about 1 a.m., I purchased it from the Scorecard website, but for some reason there was a problem with my PayPal account, so I sent an email to the people at Scorecard asking for help hoping I would have a response from them when I woke up the next morning. Well, about 5 minutes later I had a response from the technical support at Scorecard with a solution to the problem. Definitely the best golf statistics product I have ever used, and by far the best customer service I have ever experienced!
