  1. Played a round the other day with a guy, "maybe mid 20's" that right from the first tee had one earbud in and was listening to music the whole round. There were 4 of us in that group and he never knew anyone one of us. I didn't mind, and it seemed like the other 2some in our group didnt seem to mind either. I just played my game and enjoyed the company, and he never ignored any of us or anything. Acually I have thought about doing the same thing a few times. Would you care if someone did that that when the walked up to the first tee to play in your group?
  2. I have had carpel tunnel syndrom in my right wrist and had surgery to relieve the pressure since while at work my fingers and thumb went numb and never came back to normal."is all better now with no complications" The left hand has it as well but not bad enough to worry about now, only bugs me at night once and awhile. I think that the best advice from the other poster is too wear wrist braces at night for now, that will stop you from flexing your wrists in and that is why your fingers will go numb while you sleep. Best thing to do is go get it checked out and see the severity of it to begin seeing what course of action you want to do.
  3. 250 or 275. 300 on maybe 2 occasions.
  4. Yep she lives about 3 hours east of me as well. Think she should have kept her mouth shut on the "choke" comment but I am routing for her to win.
  5. I havent watched much golf since he has been out, think there isnt as much suspense or action or something without his style of play out there. Can't wait for him to be back.
  6. Man, I am in a similar situation right now. I think i am only hitting like 4 fairways a round with my driver if Im lucky. I started off this season with the driver being one of the most consistant clubs in the bag and after the third round it just went to hell and back came the slice or the push whenever I hit it. Still shooting in the 80's because of my good recovery golf and good shortgame but geezz it's pissing me off that everytime I step up on the tee bo and I just have no confidence. Finished a round yesterday and then hit the range and tried to figure it out. think i may have figures a little something out so guess we will see.....
  7. +1. Rewarding and Humiliating.....Enjoy!!
  8. I hve been playing the same beginers full set of clubs for 8 years now and have a handicap of 14.5 now and want to upgrade my irons. I have been looking at the Nike CCI cast irons set with the s300 metal shafts. Will be going into the city"4 hours away" next week to check them out at GolfTown, but is there any others that I may want to hit as well? Any good or bad experiences with these clubs?
  9. seems like a nice excuse to tell the wife so you can get a new driver!!
  10. Garthmo

    John Daly?

Might not be the healthiest or the best ambasador for golf but he represents alot of average joes out there and if he can play and make cuts then I dont know what the big deal is.
  11. I played ball seriously as a kid up untill I tore my rotator cuff in my throwing arm. Golf came pretty natural for me, as I think it will for you.
  12. Making a line is kind of silly aint it? Just take your best aim and go for it and you will learn where your aiming over time. Do you not trust yourself to do that? not trying to be mean, really im just wondering
  13. Well another Alberta boy, where you at? I think a 3W and then a 19 degree hybrid would do the trick, then that 60 degree for sure i love mine. and ya should be set. just my .02
  14. Howdy all, I've only been an avid golfer for.... well this is my second year of having a membership at my home course. I played about 55 rounds last year in Hinton and before that i maybe played 5-8 times per season if i was lucky prior to that in our short 5 month season here in Alberta. But have grown to love golf so much over the last couple years I just had to start golfing more so convinced the wife to let me get a membership. I am down to a 15 Handicap and my goal for this year was to shoot under 80 a few times and on my second time out this spring at my new home course in Jasper shot a 78 . So hopefully I can improve and make that a more regular occurance. I am using a beginers set of wilson clubs with regular flex graphite shafts I bought about 8 years ago and hopefully will be upgraging to a nicer set soon. been thinking about the Nike cci irons. Well that's a little info about me, happy to be here and will chat with ya'll again soon! Seeya
  15. Ya, that is golf man, some days you got it some days you don't. If you accept that fact now you will enjoy the game alot more no matter how you shoot on any given day. Oh and my opinion on hitting into nets are "DONT DO IT" It can cause more problems if your learning because you wont be able to see the ball flight and then you might be practising a bad habit over and over that is causing the ball to slice or hook or whatever. stick to the range where you can see what your swing does to the ball flight my .02
  16. I havent read through all the posts yet but Im always a little upset with the fact that people still even think in Black and White. Like when I watch golf I dont think hey that black or white man is good! I only see people and untill someone brings this weird observation up, do probobly me and most of the young kids out in the world even notice or even care. But the more adults make comments like this the more we train the kids to notice the differences on the outside. I just notice this kind of thought around alot and just think people should stop thinking this way.Who cares what color the human is or what background or religion or whatever the differences are, lets just admire the skill and not even bring this old world thinking up.
  17. Have to say I enoy the round and play a better game when I walk. Dont know why, but Just enjoy the game better when I walk.
  18. I like to get up, have a nice breakfast and a coffee. Then head out and hit the range before teeing off at around 9:00. That way I can enjoy a nice round without having many "hackers" on the course to slow play down and If I can get out for a second round in the afternoon or just enjoy the rest of the day. But It sure is nice to enjoy a nice twilight round as well sometimes.
