  2. I started playing golf when I was 7 years old...started with a 'Jackie Burke' Junior set...would play off the women's tees until in a year or so I was able to play the men's tees as they had some forced carries that I was just not strong enough to carry...next stepped up into women's clubs (Wilson Staff Patty Berg). As I'm making my journey as a wee one I learned basic course management skills...made even bogey my par...planned 2 shots on a par 3 and two putts----3 shots on a par 4 and two putts...4 shots on a par 5 and two putts. When I got old enough to hit the ball longer and tall enough to swing them I got men's clubs and by the time I was 13 I had a 9 Hcap at my home course.During this six year period I virtually lived on the golf course and was able to experiment and find a swing that has stayed with me for life.I was down to a scratch by the time I was 17. Maybe I could have played the tour but I will never know as Golf lost its priority for me in the late 60s and was swept away in the social upheavels of the day. Golf was definitely not 'cool' then. I've laid off from playing for years at a time and was always able to come back and shoot in the 70's due to the grooved swing my young bones and muscles developed. I am 63 now and play to a 3.6 (USGA HCap) My suggestion to those trying to get down to the single digit mark is to find a good instructor who can keep things simple for you and not mess your mind up with a lot of BS. Working things out on the driving range is a good thing but IMHO playing golf is a much more valuable way of progressing in the game...play play play...I've run across many a range rat who had no clue what to do on a golf course. Golf is played on a golf course not a driving range. So my journey was facilitated by living across the street from a golf course and playing and caddying from dawn to dusk...not everyone has the same advantages I had...so I was very lucky to be able to learn the game as a child and my development was a natural one and simply part and parcel of 'growing up' and learning the game with the wonder of a child.
  3. I've played forged irons for most of my life but have recently in the last 4 months started using the Ci9's...they feel like forged and the FST shafts are perfect for me as I'm 63 years old and need something a bit softer and lighter. Wilson Staff used to be the best irons in the 50's, 60's and 70's but fell off due to lack of investment in R&D; but now they are back and the best kept secret in irons.
  4. Wraparound season is over saturation...what a yawner this tourney is
  5. Simply beautiful ! Thanks for the great pics !
  6. I am 63 years old and carry a 3.6 HCap. I was previously a golf ball snob so to speak and would have never dreamed of using a Pinnacle. I've lost significant distance over the years and have just recently started using the Pinnacle Gold and have found some of that distance. I also find sufficient stopping power on full shots to the green and short game is unaffected. I am quite pleased with the new Pinnacle Gold and will continue to play them.
  7. I understand Chambers Bay is a great course...I would certainly love to play it sometime !
  8. I am an American ... do you use spell check Mr Desmond...forgive my rhetorical nastiness...I was wrong...links golf is where our game was born. A true links course is on land that links the arable land with the ocean..hence 'linksland'...it was land that wasnt good for agriculture as it had too much salinity...the earliest known courses were in Scotland, dating back some 600 years ago. Many modern golf course architects are returning to links golf as the 'standard' for what a golf course is meant to be..in particular Coore/Crenshaw. In response to Four Putt...There is no such thing as 'Scottish style' links...True links courses are true links courses no matter where they are located geographically as long as they are on 'linksland'...and you are right...I was an ass. Now here is a nice bunker but I suppose for some this is too much like real golf not the target bastardization we find in the states...btw this is in Florida and is a Coore/Crenshaw design
  9. She got distracted on her birdie putt on 18...and was pointing out the offending individual with her caddy all as PP was putting...where is the etiquette in that ? If a camera clicking upsets your concentration then obviously she must concentrate deeper...seems like more of the same from lil ms ross perot...whining and blaming and turning people off
  10. Pardon me ìnthehole...just what is euro style links golf ? Your use of this bogus term shows that you know very little about golf and its history...btw this is how you spell E U R O P E...ignorant ass american
  11. I'm with ya Maddog and saturday...the golf skirts she wears are very nice...and she sure does wear it well !!!
  12. I was very impressed with the way Stacy Lewis played the 17th (Road) hole and her winning putt on 18 at St Andrews...great golf...but her personality or lack of one doesn't do her any good with the mass media...but I do think she whined incessantly after the ridiculous ruling on Ciganda's 2nd shot on the 15th hole during The Solheim....would she have whined so much if Ciganda hadn't dropped that putt for a miraculous halve...I think not...also her Marathon PSA with the kids is absolutely dreadful...who was the freakin director...she sounds insincere....in closing I also find that she resembles Ross Perot...but keep up the great play gal !
