1. I've found white is a nice color for the final round.. still like the dark yellow idea though. Maybe even a green.
2. Good point
3. Woops, I said 9? I meant 7, brain fart, sorry. But he won 7, not 5. see: http://web.tigerwoods.com/onTour/scheduleAndResults?year=2013
4. Let's just go through this real fast.. 2009 - 9 wins 2010 - no wins (well, it was the year after the scandal 2011 - 2 wins 2012 - 4 wins 2013 - 7 wins 23 wins in 5 years.. maybe not Tiger freaking Woods quality, but still by far the best around. Winning 9 tournaments at 37 is no small feat, as well...
5. I think if you have anybody behind you, you should hurry up, unless you are a 1-some or in a tournament .. or there's a group ahead of you. For the weekend, my course is always packed.. people will take extra time on the greens because there is nowhere else to go. Also, I don't like speedsters in golf. I never understood how people went out and played 18-holes as fast as they could, even hitting in to people. I had a 2-some behind me today that hit into me countless times. I would have let them go, but there was a 3-some ahead of me. They even hit it into the green when I was lining up my putt. Pretty lame, but they wanted out of there as fast as possible. I don't understand why.. I suppose they play golf just for the status. Just to go to work the next day "yeahhh, I played a round yesterday. yeahh" something like that.
6. If they say "that's a gimmie" just agree, but say you're going to just putt it anyway for the practice. I can't see them getting mad over that.
7. Damn, I forgot how good it felt to write these journal entries! looking forward to tomorrows
8. Thanks everybody for the help.
9. PW: 130-135 9-iron: 140+ 8-iron: 150+ 7-iron: 160+ 6-iron: 175-ish 5-iron: Usually a low 180, but if I get ahold of it, I can reach 190. Hybrid: 210-average 3-wood: Around 240-250 Driver: 300 fly average EDIT: I can hit the 56 wedge over 120 yards, but it's not accurate and would never do it in serious play. A smooth swing usually carries it 75-80 yards. My 52 degree (GW) takes the ball around 100-110 yards.
10. There's one thing being confident, then there's another thing saying you can beat the best player in the world without even matching up against him once. Hell, it doesn't matter if it's the worst player, you don't say you can beat someone unless you beat them first, no exceptions. This is just a cause of Norman either being the typical narcissist he is, or wanting the spotlight again. Probably both.
11. Week 1-2 Sorry I haven't been able to write a journal entry.. but a lot, and I mean a lot, has happened in the past 2 weeks. I have worked and worked and worked, both on golf and school. The last week, which I wasn't able to get out to the course, I studied for over 8 hours each day for my finals. Crazy, huh? Anyway, I'm back on the course, and things couldn't be better. (jk, of course they could) I am a driving machine. The starting of this week I couldn't even get the ball past 50 yards. Now it seems like I can't hit a bad drive. I am freaking bombing my driver like no other, smashing the sweet spot practically every time. Hard work always pays off, no matter what. I can't think of a time where hard work won't pay off. You get what you put out, and I put a lot of work into my driver to get what I have what I do right now. I mean, in all honesty, I can hit the driver over 300 yards consistently. You may think I'm lying, but I'm being 100 percent truthful. I just smash the hell of out my Callaway Razr fit Xtreme. That is a freaking stud, but like I said earlier, hard work pays off. I'm just not working hard on the course, but in the gym, too. I've been working to build my lower body and upper body, but especially my back muscles. It's really a good combination. Gym, eating healthy, and working on golf every day. A champion combo. I've played 18-holes three times the past 6 days, my lowest shooting being a 78. I didn't really play that great when I shot the 78, however, my short game was red hot. Although I was hitting great drives, my iron play just wasn't on. However, putting saved me countless strokes. I played with a group, so the pressure was on. I'm really moving forward in my game. The other two times I played, I shot an 84-82 (82 came tonight) and the 84 was with my friend. I played like crap when I shot the 84, honestly I know I can do much much better, Again tonight, I didn't play like I could have. I had a great streak going from the 6th hole to the 10th, putting up three birdies ... however, I struggled with a few holes on the back nine. I shot a 40 on the front and a 42 on the back. The best part of my game right now is the driver, without a doubt. My putting is adding countless strokes, even though I practice hours upon hours on it. I feel confident with my game, all around. Even though I failed to break 80 more than once this week, I still feel like I can possibly even break 70 in the next week or so. Why? Because I know my game is there, I can putt, I can smash drives, I can do it all. However, sometimes I don't come through when it matters. Say a 5 foot birdie putt, I'll miss. But I'm getting better, ever day I'm working hard to take just a half of stroke off. I really feel at home with golf and feel the roller coaster has just begun. I look forward to lowering my score even more and possibly even going under par very soon. Oh, and Christmas is here, which I'm very excited about. I've been wearing the same slacks to the course for the past two weeks (yeah I was them) but hopefully I can get some certified golfing attire, eh? A little birdie told me my mom may take me down to Sac to get fitted for the Titleist AP 714's (or 712's) and I might even get the Scotty Cameron. Oh, and Butch Harmon, woops I mean my Dad, might have bought me a pin seeker. I'm freaking styling after this winter! P.S. I've been working on a new website called something I'm not going to spam you about here. P.S.S. I'm looking for writers. Good luck. P.P.P.S. I don't learn from my mistakes! Merry Christmas broskis!
12. You mad, eh? Can't ask a question about colors for the final round, eh? Okey dokey tough guy, eh.
13. Just took the quiz. My power color is Green.. I like it.. still, open to suggestions
14. Sup bros. I was thinking, "What is an intimidating color for the final round of golf, besides the obvious Tiger red?" A dark yellow seems like a good choice, or possibly a black. I'm just looking for an intimating color that I can make a trademark as my own for the final round, like Tiger Red. Looking forward to your responses!
15. Aight, cool. Yeah, the one I have now is like a $40 Odyssey from Big 5.. piece of crap.
16. I putted with my friends Scotty Cameron Newport 1.5 and it was freaking heaven on earth. It's likely what I'll get for Christmas, but I was wondering if there is a better version of the scotty cameron? Possibly the Studio Select Newport 2, or something like that?
17. Thanks for the reply. That's probably what I'll do.. I was hoping for the 714's to go on sale, but if they aren't, I might as well get the 712's.. they're a whole $300+ cheaper and aren't that different. Thanks again
18. Does anybody know if / where there's going to be a sale on the Titelist AP2 714's? I've been looking but can't find any, but I'm sure the clubs will go on sale for Christmas, right? Thanks for the help
19. Make sure you are teeing the ball off your front foot.. that was my problem when I couldn't hit my driver. Also, make sure you are getting in the pull down "slot" and you have a general good swing. A good drill to get in the slot is just to practice the pull down motion 50 times in a row.
20. Hahaha, I guess so! I call him Butch Harmon ;)
21. I've been very very busy. No excuse though. right now my family and I are going to get a Christmas tree. I promise a journal update and much more when i get back.. should be in a couple hours.
22. Welcome Chris!
23. Hey guys! For the past couple days I've been working on a new website, and even though I know it's incredibly tacky and against the rules to post it here, I'm going to do so anyway, even though a moderator will delete my links and I may be punished if I continue. I thought you would enjoy this one, so hear it is! Quote: One of the best parts of golf are the movies producers put up. Believe it or not, there's hundreds of quality, fun-filled, dramatic, or romantic golf movies. As Oscar upon Oscar overflows the directors, take a seat and read our list of the best golf movies ever made.... Let me know what you think! looking forward to it!
24. Fin
Where's the updates? Are you taking a break for the Holidays or what?
It was finals week. Wasn't able to hit the course, but I'm out at the course today. Playing real good, I put up an update tonight.
