After strating this, I actually used the search function! An older thread said one of the guys at Odyssey is a bigtime gambler, thus the beginning of the poker chip. I'll try it and see. Guess it's better than using my chewed up gum like I usually use :>)

how extreme will putters get??
scooterguitar replied to spyderwerks's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well, I just bought my first mallet. From day one years ago, always a blade. I got the Odyssey GMX WHite Hot Mini Marxman thingy. Not too crazy at all compared to many. Will try it on the course tomorrow for the first real test. -
FT-i Driver...Stop me please
scooterguitar replied to scooterguitar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah, that's pretty much what I am planning Josh. Years ago, I always carried two drivers. Never knew how I would be swinging back then on any given day. Plus, one for workability and the other for distance, etc. But that was 10 years ago. At least I don't carry a chipper anymore -

Just scored a used one from a reputable dealer on the bay pretty darn cheap! I know these have been highly counterfeited, but it is proshopwarehouse with tons of feedback and the authentic guarantee. I've bought from them before with excellent results. So, should know by mid week how it does on the course! I do know about the fitting, etc. I tried numerous ones of this model and the bone std. stock one was the one with the best results. -

FT-i Driver...Stop me please

Remember that old song from Easy Riders...The Pusher Man! I have hit every friggin driver out I think. I've changed my swing and my iron play is so much better, but it really hurt my driver for some reason. Now my 560 is super long, but only when I hit it right. The demo on the FT-i was just straight, straight. I'm really thinking of carrying 2 drivers for awhile and dropping a longer iron. -

I said stop me, not talk me into it! When I was on the launch monitor I was hitting the 10 super high, so I'm looking to snag a 9 or possibly a 8.5 tour. THe tour version just has the more open face, correct? -
Geesh, I hit these a few times and am on the verge of buying one. I lost about 20 yards distance, but super straight. I don't mind the ditance, but the actual $. Those of you that own them...if oyu could undo it would ya? THat whole buyer's remorse thing you know

So I bought this XG Marxman mini today and found a poker chip in the headcover. Cool, but do people really use these as ball markers? Sure seems like I wouldn't want it in my line if someone else used it to mark with!

Mallet or Blade Putter
scooterguitar replied to shortgame85's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have been a blade guy for years, but today I bought my first mallet style. I've been playing lots faster greens lately and just haven't had the touch I am used to with my blade (Cameron), so the pro shop had a WHite Hot whateveryacallit Marxman mini...it felt great on the green (after my roung dangit) so I bought it. We'll see tomorrow. Lately I have been swapping putters dependent on where I am playing. Some courses I play are pretty rough yet and the greens almost need a sledgehammer. -
Another round and the FT keeps making me happy (even after a shitty round!). So versatile, low punch shots from under trees with accuracy and distance. Workable, etc. MY new favorite club! Maybe it is time to check our their 3 wood.
-
I vote for the 950's too. That being said, I did order 57's (7-p) and am keepin ghte 950 long irons. Love them.

Well, the FT saved my rear about 4 times tonight on 9! The Adams I am just not hitting right. Just one of those things I guess. What I do like about the FT is that is covers a few clubs very nicely. I am not a big hitter at all. It is the 4h and I can hit it a wee over 200 if I kill it, comfy around 180-190...But the nice thing is the ability to back off and still be able to work it how I like down to about 160 yards. This is the first hybrid I've played (had a few) that makes me understand the term utility.
-
I've been on a hybrid kick the past few days, tried a bunch. I am so-so on the Adams Pro Tour older model, I either hit it great or horribly. I tried the new FT and it was "ok". Today a local shop had the older FT model for $99 new so I gave it a whirl. Wow! I am amazed! I am hitting it really far and I can actually work it. LOw, high, straight, or draw. Can't fade it yet. But, well worth a shot if your looking. Many places have it for $150 right now on sale.

I ordered my new MP 57's with sensicore shafts. IS this going to mess with the buutery feel of the irons? I suffer from tendonitis, CTS, and minor arthritis and I'm only 36! Since I have been golfing almost daily and hitting the range this season my forearms and hands never stop hurting. It is bearable obviously, but I am hoping the shafts will help a little bit. Just looking for any opinions on the shafts...and some sympathy
-
I have my MP 57's coming and didn't order any wedges, now I decided to snag wedges. Basically my irons are 1/2" longer, would the gap wedge benefit from the same or a standard be fine?
-
I tried about 10 #'s and then gave up!

I have a steel shafted 4 that came with my MX950's, really started to like it. So last night I found an Adams 16* Tour Proto used and was hitting the heck out of it, so I snagged it. But, I think I will have to return it as the shaft is xstiff and I am just not hitting it straight w/o over compensating. Dang! So I am going to try and find another a little higher loft. As of now, I'd like to have 3-5 hybrids. Not sure if I will gof or matching ones or just try to find various ones that work.

Another driver thread!
scooterguitar replied to scooterguitar's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just came home with the MX 560. What a driver! Feels sooo solid! I was about to snag the one I had tried previosuly with the stock Exsar stiff shaft, then opted to try the Fuji Fit-On stiff, just to try it in case. Now today I wasn't swinging my best, the Exsar had a fade happening, the Fuji, wow...dead straight! I went back and forth, and it was no contest...the Fuji won. I am now a FIRM believer in all the shaft tech in today's game. Who would have thought two shift shafts would have given such drastic differences. Is the Fuji a big $ upgrade? I got it for $10 more and still got a better deal than any of the chain golf stores sell it with the Exsar. Brand new in wrapper until I swatted it. -
Oooh, I wanna try some!

Right. As he said you cannot.
