  1. I'd rather see Patrick Reed border on arrogance in his statements than to hear the media be arrogant for a player. The media causes me to dislike players far more than the players themselves. I've always been pretty indifferent toward most players. During the carousel of number ones, and the media hoopla that surrounded each, while Tiger was in beaver rehab made me sick. It's been bad ever since. A player wins a tournament and they're the next coming. Jason Day is considered a masiah in the media after winning the match play. Patrick Reed wins more times in 15 starts, against better fields, than Jason Day has in his career and the dude gets crucified. It's hilarious to watch GC and other media outlets trip over themselves trying to backup on throwing Reed under the bus when the they started hearing that the other pros like Reed and his comments.
  2. It happens to a lot of people. It happens to me from time to time with either driver or irons. It's weird, I'll hit my irons dead flush every swing in practice sessions or warm up then walk 20 yards to the first tee and its like I left my game behind. The best advise I've ever received was to practice like you play. Hit Driver, 7iron, 3wood, lob wedge, driver, 9iron....You get the picture. When I start noticing that I'm becoming a driving range pro I've usually been block practicing a lot. I get a 7 iron dialed in and set and stroke one after another. Then when it's time to hit a 3wood I'm lost as last years Easter egg. Keep practice ever changing just like a round and it will keep the "Range Pro" away.
  3. What about the dude from Las Vegas?
  4. Heck according to them I'm leading the PGA in the 5' putting range. I started laughing immediately when I saw the ball. That's a classic.
  5. I played behind somebody wearing these the other day. I kept thinking there must be a giant playing ahead of me because of the chug holes in the greens. It's a shame, those are some nice looking kicks. Bad design for sure.
  6. I hate to get this debate started again but I figured I'd drop a little update. I've continued to play half a good round and half a blow up for the last couple weeks. My average score has been about 82, with 2 or 3 birdies and 6 double bogies. I got so down when I left the house yesterday I told my wife I didn't care if I shot 100. I was just going to have to come to terms with not being the golfer I once was. I shot 1 under yesterday, went back today and shot 2 under. Physical slump, mental slump, or whatever it was I'm glad it's gone and hope it stays that way. I appreciate all the tips and help.
  7. I appreciate the responses. I should have clearified a little more. This has just started recently, the last 5-6 rounds. I typically shoot from 2-3 under to 2-3 over. I drive the ball where I want most of the time, hit a lot of greens, I get up and down pretty good on average. I average around 30 putts a round. When I play bad, whether it be the front nine or back, I feel disconnected. It's like I'm out of touch, even a little light headed. I may just have to be honest with myself and say my best golf is behind me.....or start practicing a lot more. Thanks again for the responses.
  8. Haha I know, I know, all golfers do but I'm having a real problem. I can play one great 9 then the wheels fly completely off. I may play 9 holes 1-2 under then blam-o, bogie fest on the back. If I start terrible, bogies and doubles I turn it around and shoot even on the back. It's not a particular part of the game that gets out of sorts either. It's poor irons, bad drives, duffer chips, lipped out putts, you name it. Today I shot 9 over on the front and 1 under on the back. 2 days ago I shot 2 under on the front and 8 over on the back. I'm going nuts.
  9. I consider myself an ace putter (its the other 60 strokes that give me trouble). I have a lot of people at my club come to me when their putter turns its back on them. Most of the time if the miss is a consistent pull or push its the result of the toe of the putter being up. You can get away with the toe being down (it's actually what I recommend on slick greens) but not up. Make sure your putter fits you properly and practice the drills posted. I practice putting everyday even if its just a few strokes on a mat at home. It's the one part of your game that you can be as good as the pros at. It just takes a lot of correct practice. Keep the heel of that putter up and practice and I think you'll see some changes.
  10. Your goals are fine and you're coming along quickly IMHO. It's good to set a scoring goal but be mindful of what keeps you from making that goal when you fail. Too many three putts, not hitting enough greens, etc. Don't get too down on yourself if you don't reach your goal quickly. Just focus on what you need to improve and the scores will come. Good luck.
  11. I should add that I would have never tried the full range session approach myself had middle Tennessee not been gripped by global warming for the past three months. The 65 degree temps beckoned me to the range like a moth to a flame.
  12. Just wanted to get some opinions. Do you ever, or would you ever, have a full range session the same day you play. For example you play Friday and and struggle with your driver. You have a round on Sunday but can't practice on Saturday. Do you hit the range hard before your round or just go with what you have until you have time for a proper session? I ask because I did it for the first time today. I haven't been driving the ball particularly well so I went and worked hard on it at a range near my house this morning then drove to the course and played. I hit 13 fairways, when I'm hitting it great i may hit 10. It really helped my confidence more than anything else.
  13. I'm still working on the video upload. I have done a little research and I think I'm swinging too hard. On the range im relaxed and just swinging. When i hit the course i trip out and swing out of my shoes. I'm going to try to get two swings up ASAP.
  14. I'll try. I'm not terrible tech savvy.
