  1. i dont personally have particular knowledge on that shaft, however... you can take it to a club maker and usually he'll tell you the stiffness of the shaft through a numerical representation. He can then tell you how that number compares to other regular or stiff shafts. He'll likely do this for no charge.
  2. if you can choose either....which would you go with?
  3. 1 vote towards the Taylormade R7's. I have the r7 TP's but the r7's might fit your game nicely.
  4. tried them both...both are great clubs......i felt the ap2 did have a little more feel to them and shots on the sweet spot came off a little hotter...maybe 5 more yards per club..and they are relatively forgiving. i found though that he r7 tp's are a little more forgiving than the ap2's were. I'd say i'd catch maybe 8/10 solid on the sweet spot with both irons...but those 2 shots on the ap2 maybe lost almost a clubs worth of distance while the r7's maybe lost half a club. Either way i'd say they are both great...its a real coin toss...i personally preferred the look of the taylormades...and my woods are taylormade as well....and the irons came with a taylormade bag...so thats what did it or me...nonetheless...you are at least choosing between two very nice iron sets. i'd suggest demo-ing like a 6iron of each and going from there.
  5. I believe you must be a 2 or better.

    Pro V1 vs Pro V1-392

yea thats what i was thinking. The 392's that i got were brand new unused...the guy who i got them from has access to extra balls that titleist has and he sent me a bunch of the prov1's and prov1-392's.
  7. i'd recommend spending 50 bucks to find out what line of clubs you hit best...then buying them used on ebay...then spending about 30 bucks to get them adjusted if you'd need so. Most likely..at 5'9''...you are standard lie and length....so you probably wouldnt even have to have them adjusted. In the fitting...they'd let you know. my personal recommendation is the taylormade r7's. I have the TP versions and i love them...but the r7's are great clubs. I havent hit them personally...but golf magazine and golf digest give the Cobras high reviews.
  8. any difference performance-wise between these two balls? I found that the '392' refers to the number of dimples on the ball.
  9. thanks those are the type of shorts i was looking for

    44 holes in 7 hours

im pretty jealous of your day. sounds like a good one.
  11. Anyone know where you can find golf type apparel for toddlers? Shorts, belts...that type of thing i can find polo's basically everywhere so thats not that big of an issue...im mainly looking for shorts/pants and like nice belts of various colors. shoppin for a 2 year old. hats and those type of accesories would be nice as well.
  12. You want to keep your front shoulder behind or at the ball at impact. If you move laterally, you'll pull your shoulder off the ball.
  13. anybody feel a loss of distance with the hogan technique? i've been trying it out and it seems like my ball flies consistently about 10-15 yards shorter. I feel like, because my foot is flared, i cant hold off my lag as long. Mainly, my tempo is a little off because with this technique i feel like im taking a longer swing than i would if my front foot was parallel with my back. It also feels like i cant get aggresive if i wanted to. If im in that between the clubs distance....it feels like i cant just hit my shorter club longer. Feels like im limited to making an 85% swing. Although the shots do go nice and straight...it feels like im losing lag and definitely losing backspin and stopping power on the green.
  14. you need improvement of your fundamentals. hows your grip and alignment? is your stroke smooth and providing solid contact?

    Handicap

  16. Because you have hit a number of balls and have been able to get feedback on those shots...you athletic tendencies allow you to compensate for what is faulting in your swing. Unfortunately, compensations dont hold up for very long (they can be gone by the time you walk to the first tee)...you normal swing will come back. Also, you may see that your golfing improves as the round goes on. This isnt as much as you are getting looser (although if you are tight you wont play well)...but its because you have had some time to develop compensations. And like you said, after about 20 swings you began to develop good ball strikes...unfortunately...you may only take about that many full swings every 9 holes...so the curve for developing nice shots is a much longer process. The right answer is unfortunately the most tedious and most obvious. In your case, i dont think its a mental situation...its simply part of the development of your swing. Once your swing comes around, the consistency will be there...and you wont have to worry about transferring your game from the range to the course...because regardless of the venue...your game will be there.
  17. down here in florida it overcasts every afternoon. Going out at 3 or 4pm seems to be the way to go. The clouds block out the sun..and by the time you get down to 5 or 6 pm it gets relatively 'cool' out. The humidity is still up..but at least you dont have to deal with the sun beating down on you like you would if you were playing when the sun is fully out.
  18. i'm going to go hit balls today and try the front heel method...it seems like you can be more consistent with moving your foot than with ball position.
  19. Lee Westwood maybe? #2 at both Firestone and the Open ...maybe he'll claim the PGA this week?
  20. haha i suppose ..case closed i guess
  21. very likely scenario is that you have too much lower body movement in your backswing. would you say that your lower body is quiet during your backswing?
  22. http://perfectpractice.wordpress.com...driver-set-up/ he uses an analysis on hogan's and nicklaus positions. Nowadays...nicklaus' seems to be the predominant school of thought on the topic. what do you think about his opinion on ball position? --im not sure if its his original idea...but i found it on his site.
  23. looks like no one has any insight...but im probably gonna go with the TP wedge
  24. its moot for me to repeat what iacas had been saying. but i'll just reiterate that although the feeling is of trapping the ball..and that is what the pro's say they do...and its the same thing that is advised in all golf publishings.... ...but its physically impossible for a lofted club that properly strikes a ball to pinch it into the ground---the ball immediately travels up the clubface.
  25. i havent really read this entire argument besides the last few posts...but its unbelievable to think that the ball physically gets pinched between the clubface and the ground. That is impossible with a lofted club. Like iacas said a dozen times, you'd need negative loft to do that. Every time a clubface properly comes in contact with a golf ball....the golfball immediately rolls up the clubface. I will concede that it does feel like you are pinching the ball into the ground...and yes..all the golf tips advise to "pinch" the ball...but that simply refers to what you want to be feeling....from a physics stand point...its simply impossible.
