  1. I signed up, thinking sure why not give them shot, and got declined... Fine by me I'll stick to Titleist, who's had the same top-level ball for 15 years while TM is on 3? 4? in the last 5 years? TP Black, Penta, TP5, Back to tourpreferred?...
  2. Played two rounds on a quick weekend vacation to Fort Lauderdale.. 86 from the tips at Palm-Aire Palms Course (73.0/128)...Got paired with a local who had played some D1 Golf and wanted to play from the championship tees, probably not the best decision for a first round in 3+ months. Hit the ball well, but a handful of awful short game shots and 38 (38!!) putts sunk my ship. 82 from the blue tees at Hillcrest CC (71.5/134).. Hit the ball way better than the score showed, was +2 thru 13 and made a 7 and an 8 (OB Drive on a Par 5) along with two other bad bogeys coming in, only 34 putts in this round haha.. Played with some more locals, who had no respect for etiquette, one guy in particular with a South African accent (maybe someone in the area knows him, he was a busy body) would not shut the f up while anyone was swinging, constantly blabbering about his last, usually bad shot.. so frustrated by the end of the round. Obviously not great scores, but it felt good to be in sun and on grass. Back in Boston today thinking about how it could be two MORE months before I play again. Time to move south...
  3. Ron please refrain from any more posts in this thread...this is a golf WINTER DEPRESSION thread, not a winter RUB IT IN YOUR FACE thread. I can't take any more gut punches courtesy of Northern California.
  4. Finally played a round on the South Shore of MA yesterday 1/13... 76 (+4) at Lakeville CC in winter conditions.. Tees seemed to be at white-ish distance. A few semi frozen greens, tried to replace the ball near the pitch mark if it skied off like concrete (once or twice). Was -1 on the 16th tee (-3 for the back), with two par 3's and par 4 (horrible layout IMO) to close. Finished 4-6-5 for +5 stretch, dumping two consecutive gap wedges (!) in the drink on the 17th. Was not happy. Stopped at Brookmeadow CC on the way home for an extra 9 (was shocked it was open being so far north) and it was in immaculate shape for January! If youre in New England I highly reccomend it!! 15$/30$ walking... 37 (+1) there, 2 Birdies, 3 Bogeys..Was getting tired by the end of the day, out of golf shape! Ha
  5. I wonder why Villegas hits the CB tour preferred irons? I don't think I've ever seen another Taylormade pro hit anything but MB's and occasionally MC's.
  6. Worked hard on getting the club started a little more inside and feeling a little more around, powering the backswing with body rotation and less lift.. Got the majority of balls back to the sweet spot. Its still feels and looks a little loose and handsy but oh well. Its january. Was getting a cool pro-tracer type camera effect in the lights too haha.
  7. @iacas okay point taken... so then i guess the question becomes, what causes the toe hits, if my hands being so far over the line isnt an issue? it has to be a shaft plane thing right? because based on all of the tour guys hand positions above, they too must steepen out the shaft to find center..is it that I am over doing it?
  8. Haven't shanked for a while. almost all toe misses, but I do agree posture is probably a big issue on any miss thats on either side of the sweet spot
  9. Yeah thats a really good point I didn't notice that. I do the headcover drill quite a bit and it stays put, maybe something smaller like a tee will help. I think its like a mental block about keeping things in tighter while missing towards the toe.
  10. The wierd thing is to begin last season I was missing with shanks too...and I fixed it by trying to keep the right knee and hip from "crashing toward the ball" my instructor called it. I don't know if this new toe miss is an over compensation, but I have a feeling its all inter-related..curious as well to see what people think. I think it may be a combo of weight distribution, and shallowness/steepness of the downswing plane to make up for that movement. hmmm?
  11. I too have a question about the hand line, especially as it comes to adress vs. impact. As of late I've been hitting most iron shots on the toe side of center (maybe a half a ball). I'm almost certain it has to do with steepening the shaft.... (THE NEON GREEN LINE IS AN OVERLAY OF THE SHAFT ANGLE AT SETUP).. Red line is representative of the HAND LINE AT ADRESS. I've watched a ton of swings on YouTube, and EVERY pro is returning the hands to that line or just fractionally past it (like Rory above). My hands though are way out beyond it and much higher. Every thing about that screams Sh*nk.. but I've read the shaft steepening is compensating move, and actually causes to hits. So... How the HELL do you keep your hands at or inside that line? Super tough concept for me to grasp, especially battling toe contact?? It seems id be even further away from the center of the clubface..
  12. Anyone? I know the angles aren't good enough for any in depth analysis.. Did the best I could balancing the forward camera on my phone on the nearest bench or ledge... Ive seen a few instructors or pros who comment on the "my swing" posts. Mvmac iacas? cipher? Sorry I'm new not sure how it all works. Thanks guys! newbie
  13. I do have this, like I said older (October) from a more DL position. As you can see its gotten a little loose since.. winter will do that.
  14. I've been Playing Golf for: 4 Years My current handicap index or average score is: 4.3 My typical ball flight is: Draw, usually lower traj. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: The weak block right. It's a little more upright and a LOT longer than the last time I took a video (maybe October?). Things I know are wrong: My elbow flies, it always has. I played baseball through college, and I've really tried to fix that elbow, but it usually results in me getting to flat. Its long/past parallel. This is something that varies for me, went through stretches where it was overly short this summer. I think it has to do with my hand action. My right foot/hips tend to get "jumpy", (my right knee makes an uncomfortable straightening/fire move that I struggle hard to control) not sure if I'm overactive with the hips or what. I worked hard to turn not slide. Still needs alot of work. Alright its my first post ever. Be gentle haha.
