I am currently 30. Till January, that is.

I carry neither. I considered a 2 iron, but the MP-57 doesn't have one, so I got a 4 wood instead.

Maybe once or twice a month. I think that I have played about 10 rounds of golf this year. It is not much, but I guess that comes with having a baby. Maybe when I finish college in a couple of years I can get more course time.

Just won a sweet putter, but...
cwcaesar replied to Jay-Bird's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Send it to Scotty! It will cost you though. Mine was $299 from Edwin Watts, but after shipping and Custom Shop fees it has totaled to about a $715 putter. I had the works done to it though. I had it cut down, weight added, new head cover, new premium grip, new paintfill, and certification. I am still waiting for it to get back, but I really don't think that I will be disappointed. -
If I was to get a second set in that range, I would get an older set of blades. There is a golf shop near my university that sells older sets. They don't do a full refinish, but they clean them up, buff them and put some new grips on them. They come with persimmon woods and all. I figure that if I could hit these clubs then I could hit anything. To answer the OP's question, I am not really sure what is good in that price range, except maybe something off ebay. Good luck in your search.

I have gone back to my old Rossie 2 while I wait for my Cameron to get back from the custom shop. Some times you just need a different feel.

Anyone else have super extra wide feet?
cwcaesar replied to DirtCheap's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
LOL! That is hilarious. I almost fell off of the couch when I read that. I have wide feet, but nowhere near that wide. Just 1E. -

How low is the ball flight of the DG R300's?
cwcaesar replied to elsito99's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I found the Project X's to produce a low ball flight. I went with the DG S300 shaft in my MP-57's and I get a nice mid/high ball flight. -
Right now I have a stand bag, but I hope to have a Cart/Staff bag within a couple of weeks. I hardly ever walk and if I decide to I will use a push cart. I don't like the bag slipping all over the place so I think that it is time for an upgrade. I will probably get something from the Mizuno line-up so it will compliment my clubs.

I like the Winn Xi7. Soft, yet firm enough, and it grips better if it gets a little wet.

I'll have to try this ball. I really like a soft feeling ball. This may be what I have been looking for.

Graphite vs Steel on irons (3-pw)
cwcaesar replied to yeis20's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Steel. I value accuracy over distance any day. Plus, the steel is way more durable than the graphite. -
It looks as if the new MP-52 will have a recessed cavity cut out of the back. It may just be a bad camera angle, but that would be interesting. I won't be getting rid of my 57's for a while though.

There are two lines of Odyssey Black putters. There is the regular Black Series which has a milled face and no insert. Then there is the Black Series i which has an insert. Both lines of putters are made of carbon steel and have Tungsten weights on the back of the putter to get the weight low and away for a higher MOI. At the Edwin Watts here the Odyssey Black putters are $279, so for $20 more I went with the Scotty.

I need cheap game improvement irons...suggestions?
cwcaesar replied to o9z1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Nike Slingshots are a decent game improvement iron. I recently got rid of a set that I had used for 5 years. They had a wide sole and were very forgiving. I couldn't hit a draw or a fade with these irons, they were just too straight. -
Welcome to the site! Mizuno makes the best irons in the world so I would start with demoing them, but don't stop there. Try all the golf clubs that you can and pick the ones that you like the best. Then, have them fitted. The staff at the store should be qualified to perform a fitting. This is the most important thing that you can do when purchasing a new set of irons. Plus, the cost of the fitting is usually deducted from the price of a new set. Enjoy the process. I always find it fun to hit different clubs.

I am looking at getting a new bag as my old one has about 7 years of wear on it. I am curious as to the benefits and drawbacks of owning a staff bag. I almost always take a cart (either ride or push cart), so the weight of it is not my biggest concern. I guess I am wondering if anyone has had problems with a bag being too bulky? Maybe too big to fit in a car trunk or something? Any feed back is appreciated. I am considering a Mizuno Staff bag, or maybe an Ogio. Any other suggestions for a nice Staff bag?

The 67's would be a good choice. I thought about getting them, but I like a high trajectory on my irons, so I went with the 57's. Either way, you can't go wrong with a Mizuno.

Need a new driver shaft and/or loft?
cwcaesar replied to NBGC's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would just get a new shaft. The proper shaft can change the trajectory quite a bit. I think that you would do well with a stiff shaft. I don't know specific shafts too well, but I suggest that you find one that has low torque. I think this will help you with that fade a little bit. -
Thanks all, I guess that I will stick with my ProV1's for now. Maybe when I run out I will look into experimenting with a new ball. It may take some time as I have not lost a ball in a few rounds.

Shoes: Adidas or Nike
cwcaesar replied to myndcraft's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I hated the Nike shoes that I used to have. They fell apart after only a few rounds. I stuck with them for a couple of seasons and just accepted that they were not waterproof like they were supposed to be. When the sole fell off I figured that it was time to get some new shoes. The Nike's also didn't wear well after a few holes. They were comfortable in the store, but after a little course time they would hurt my feet, and that is while riding in a golf cart. I wouldn't even consider wearing them if I wanted to walk a round. After about 7 or 8 holes my feet were raw. I got a pair of FootJoys and I can play all day in them. I have never tried the Adidas, but I can't imagine them being any worse than the Nike's. -
Anyone have a "strange" club in your bag?
cwcaesar replied to JessN16's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
That's just a bit too far for me. LOL -
It was a short par 4 and I think that I scored an 8 or 9, en route to a 175 first round total. I will never forget that wonderful day.

how important is club fitting?
cwcaesar replied to adams603's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
While I was being fitted The guy showed me the difference a flat and an upright lie. He told me that I would need to go at least 3* upright and I proceeded to ask him if it really made that much difference. He handed me the same iron that was 2* flat and I consistently hit a hard fade. He then handed me one that was 3* upright and I found that slight draw that I was trying to hit. I already knew that I was going to be upright, but being fitted for shaft flex and length was great for my game as well. I hit my irons so well now, thanks to a good fitting. So, to answer the OP's question, it is very important!
