  1. Based on this single score, it looks to be quite incorrect... (Score - Course Rating) x 113 / Slope Rating (84-71) x 113 / 117 = 12.56 12.56 x .96 = 12.05 index Obviously you need more scores to calculate the handicap, and looking at the others it would be quite a bit higher, but I do not think 23 is too high
  2. This may be a dumb question, but what does "boardy" mean? Stiff? I've heard this before regarding this shaft, but never understood?
  3. I regripped my driver this weekend and played my first round of the year today. The performance and feel of the club didn't change (aside from the size of grip), but there was a noticeable change in sound. I just bought the driver this year and had only hit it on the range prior today. The only things I can think of are: I added a new grip with 3 layer of tape underneath -or- the different sound comes from hitting range balls vs. Nike One Platinums. Can these factors change the sound the club makes? Or did I mess something up (I did the work myself)?
  4. I recently got the Cleveland CG11 wedges and I spin them like crazy. I even spun one back off the green with my 50* yesterday (not that that's a good thing), and I could never do that with my old wedges. If you're looking for a new wedge, the CG11 is pretty cheap right now.
  5. Quite possibly. But if you're hitting it straight, I'd leave it alone. My swing speed is around 115, so I recently put an extra stiff shaft on my driver. I still slice, just not as severely. My swing is the problem.
  6. So, I picked up driver (complete with my new shaft) on Tuesday. I finally got a chance to hit it on the range today. My slice was gone and I was hitting the ball a bit lower and straight as an arrow, but with similar distance. I was pretty excited. Then, after about 6 swings, I stepped back to take a break and rested the club head on the ground. When I went back to address the ball, the club head fell off! It appears the shaft broke off inside the club head. So, now I have to go plead my case to the store manager to get this fixed. Not a good start to the weekend.
  7. I'm hoping for similar results. At the very least, I hope the mistakes I make will be less costly. I can't wait to get to the range (I picked up my club today).
  8. I agree. I was able to test about 8 shafts in the launch monitor and this was my top choice (along with the Fujikara 360).
  9. Well, I haven't pulled out my driver in 30 holes, and that's just not a fun way to play golf. I decided to switch out my pro launch blue for a pro launch red (tipped an inch to make it a bit more stiff). I'll let you know how it goes.
  10. Thank you for the advice everyone. I think I'm either going to go to try some new shafts or wait until fall and buy a new driver. In terms of length, a shorter shaft would help. I'm 6'4", but I do choke up a couple of inches.
  11. That's where I'm torn. I tried a couple regular flex/high kick point but I was still at a 15* degree launch. But I don't want to buy a x stiff and realize a month from now that I wasted money. Not sure if it's a stock shaft, as I bought the club used. I'll definitely have it fit to my length (I'm tall, so I need it to be a little longer)
  12. So I have a question about ball flight with my driver and I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I have a 9* with a stiff shaft/mid kick point and I hit the ball high... ridiculously high. To make matters worse, I also slice (only with this club). It's gotten to the point where i don't even bother pulling out my driver, even on wide open par 5's because i hit my 5 wood almost as far and pretty straight (most of the time). I recently hit in front of the launch monitor at Golf Galaxy, and I'm thinking of buying one of the shafts I tried (my swing speed is 115, so they suggested an X-stiff with a mid kick point) which reduced my launch angle from 18* to 14* and felt easier to control. My question is: has anyone experienced anything similar and have any advice? Is it a good idea to buy a shaft without testing outside on the range? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  13. Pretty confident with my 60 degree due to hours of practice, somewhat confident with my putter. Zero confident in anything else (hence the 19 handicap, soon to be going up).
  14. Tiger, but it's close.
