  1. Stenson and Kuchar just flubbed their pitch shots. Much tougher hole locations today.
  2. I agree, if someone at -1 or -2 can come out with a 65/66 in the afternoon, the weekend will become much more interesting. A four stroke lead going into the weekend at the US Open can be spoiled.
  3. I just heard Azinger say that most of the best players have a slight over the top move. Is this true?
  4. Awesome. Can't wait to order the book soon. I really like what you guys are doing here on the forums. No nonsense instruction for everyone. It's great.
  5. I thought it was probably a familiarity issue, but the responses about obstacles makes sense too. I can't wait for tomorrow. Pulling for Paul Casey to make a move tomorrow. Love his swing.
  6. Can someone explain the rules on grounding the club in the native areas? I'm watching a replay and I notice no one is grounding the club.
  7. I'm getting sent to a go daddy page when I click on that link, as if the domain isn't registerd.
  8. I picked up a Ping 4 Series the other day at Dick's and was shocked by how light weight it was. I'm pretty partial to the Ping bags, though.
  9. Yeah, I just saw one wearing a Titleist cap. Spieth gonna lose at least one stroke here.
  10. This Fitzpatrick kid is killing it! Are amateurs not allowed to wear hats? None of the ones I've seen are wearing one.
  11. I've noticed some brown spots around the greens where the grass is cut super low, but other than that I think it looks great. Very unique. I love watching the way the greens respond to shots just a few feet long or short. Edit: now that the cloud cover is gone, there is some discoloration on the fairways as well.
  12. Boomer did the intro, and I was just praying that he wouldn't be on long. Van Pelt has taken over with Azinger, so all is well.
  13. Good to know. I told them to give me a ring whenever some i20's came in and I would put them on layaway. These are basically going to be a wedding gift to myself, haha!
  14. I know some threads have posted similar questions, but I believe I am asking a complicated enough question to warrant a thread: I went to Edwin Watts today to demo some irons and fairway woods. The sales rep was really pushing TM on me, but I was really liking the feel of the Ping i20's. My misses weren't terribly punished like they are with my current set of blades, but I could still feel the miss off the clubface for feedback. They had a much more solid weight to them than the TM Speedbladez did, and I think this will help counteract my tendency to overswing a bit. Now, to my questions: first, will a custom fitting for, say, the i25 (since that's the latest model and what's in the fitting cart) translate into a proper fit for the i20's? I'm wanting to buy the 20's simply for the sake of saving some money, as I'm on a limited budget. Second (and I know this has been addressed before), would it be wrong of me to get a fitting at Edwin Watts, and then purchase a used set in the appropriate color dot elsewhere? I mean, if they just happened to have a used set in my fit, I'd be happy to buy them from the store, but that is probably an unlikely scenario. Last, suppose I am fit and the store happens to have some used black dots in stock, are the i20's easily bent? This is all rather complicated as I likely need longer than stock shafts as well. Buying used/older model irons seems like it may be more work than it's worth.
  15. I think the game is considerably more enjoyable in the "bogey golf" range than it is in the higher handicap ranges, so I think there is definitely a distinction to be made between bogey golfers and those scoring 100+ (no offense to the high cappers, of course!)
  16. The weather really killed the tournament for sure. I live in Memphis, and I don't know how they kept the course playable.
  17. If I see one more shot of Phil hitting shots on the range, I'm going to scream. There are people on the course for goodness sake!
  18. I've been working on the pitching technique that Eric shows in that thread. I've been wondering, though, how to go about using it farther away from the hole. Is it a matter of finding your preference, between pitching with, say, a PW from 80 yards and trying to manage a 70% LW (this isn't working for me currently), or is the pitching technique always preferable? I'll definitely try the pitching technique with some lower lofted clubs next time I'm practicing.
  19. This happens to me too. As the round goes on, I get tired/lazy and stop turning/shifting my weight forward as well; i.e., I start to swing more with my arms (force of habit I guess). The trick for me, I think, will be strengthening my back and core so I can have a bit more stamina on the course.
  20. I'm also looking for some guidance in this area. If I don't leave at least a full LW into the green, I'm pretty much just guessing. I'm ok close to the green, but 120-greenside I really struggle.
  21. http://thesandtrap.com/t/56097/share-your-personal-course-pictures There's already a thread for that
  22. good looking set, just gotta take one club out of the bag
  23. Shot 43 (+7) today! FIR: 4 GIR: 4 Putts: 18 (only one 3 putt) Birdies: 0 Pars: 4!!! Bogeys: 3 Doubles: 2 Penalties: I lost my ball in the rough on the first par 5, which resulted in a double bogey Overall, I hit the ball really well today, and my putting was pretty good as well! Shots from 135 and in are the biggest source of doubt and difficulty for me.
  24. I also thought it was a great tournament, and it was the first tournament I've watched through in quite a while. Big names in contention, everyone got into position on the front nine, and them the drama unfolded on the back. Na shot a 64 to get into the mix today, and Matsuyama almost holed like 3 approaches in a row on the back. Watching Bubba scramble is always fun to watch as well. I don't know why everyone so desperately wants the same person winning evey week again. I want to see whoever is hitting the ball best win.
  25. Matsuyama has the wedges on a ROPE!
