  1. Tried on the new Puma Biofusion Spikeless Mesh Golf Shoes yesterday. They looked and felt great, love that they are waterproof, but the tread pattern made me put them back on the shelf. Just didn't seem like they would provide enough traction. Am I wrong? Has played in them?
  2. I love the look and feel of the Mizuno Tour Stand Bag. Was looking at it at Golf Galaxy the other day. I just don't love the price. http://www.mizunousa.com/equipment.n...=golf&cat;=bags
  3. I spent yesterday hitting almost every iron at Golf Galaxy that I deemed to be in my skill range (Big Bertha, Ping G10, Cleveland HiBore, various Mizuno MX-s) and some out of my skill range (X-20s, MP-67) and fell in love with the Mizuno MX-950s. I had spoken to the Mizuno rep at an event a week earlier and he explained to me the details of each set they offer. This is my first year of regularly playing golf - I play at least twice a week. I love the game and can't seem to get enough. I have been taking lessons and practice on my own. My exisiting set is an old set of Taylor Mades that were hand me downs. So, knwoing that - any reason I shouldn't get the MX-950s? I know they are expensive, but are they too much of a beginners club?
  4. I tried them all. Went with the Hibore XL because I hit it consistently straighter than the others - but not as far.
  5. That was my other idea - an approach wedge or a lob wedge. Does Callaway make a good wedge?
  6. This book was given to me when I first started playing golf. I have read it a number of times. Its a very simple, enjoyable, and valauble tool that I go back to again and again.
  7. I was recently given a Callaway gift card. I am considering using it to purchase a new 3 wood. I don't hit the ball very far and need to use a fairway wood for my second shot on my most par 5s (and some par 4s). I have tried the X Fairway Wood at Golf Galaxy and liked it. Not sure if I should go with the X, X hot, or FT - or use the gift certificate for something different (see my bag below). I have already upgraded my putter (Odyssey) and irons (Mizuno), so 3 wood seems like the next club - but I could be convinced of some other Callaway product. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  8. I play at Fox Valley more than anywhere else. Used to play at Delaware Park a lot. You?
  9. Thanks for the welcome. Graycliff makes a nice product, but they tend to be a little expensive. Everything Pepin touches seems to turn to gold. I love the San Cristobals and the Ashton VSGs. You have some good taste.
  10. Been lurking around the forum and thought I should sign up. After averaging about 3 rounds a summer for the bast 10 years, I have started playing golf regularly this year, and have been bitten by the bug. I play at least twice a week. My goal at the beginning of this year was to break 120, which came to me quicker than I thought. I am now trying to break 100 - my best score this year was a 106. I love golf and can't seem to practice or play enough. My other passion is cigars and love to talk about those too. I look forward to learning a lot here.
  11. I don't know much about golf, but I am a huge cigar fan. My current favorites are anything Illusione, the Tatuaje Brown Lables, and Padrons - as well as many others that come from a certain island south of miami. I spend a lot of time on www.stogiechat.com and love smoking and talking about cigars.
  12. I just purchased the Cleveland HiBore XL. They are on sale now. It takes a little getting used to, but I now find it very easy to hit, so my confidence is way up. Doesn't seem to go as far as other drivers I have hit, but I seem to hit the ball much straighter now - well, most of the time.
  13. I work for a real estate development company. Things are more than slow right now.
  14. Mine is: http://www.foxvalleyclub.com/ Tough course, but I love it.
