  1. A3 is the putting course at Lac La Belle.
  2. @Hardspoon forgot a lot of s**t this year. First ever golf outing organized...grade...B-. Maybe a C+. Photos from Reserve Run: Group 1: @vasaribm @StuM @dennyjones @NeilR Group 3: @Hardspoon, @iacas, @billchao, @DaveP043 Group 2: Bill, @DinnerTime, @ChetlovesMer, @rwolfe, @hardspoonfinger
  3. A little late to the party, but I wanted to follow up with a summary. I had an awesome time, and really enjoyed getting to see everyone again. The weather even cooperated...if you call 89 degrees on a course with no trees "cooperation". The team game was really fun, and competitive both days. Saturday, at Reserve Run, the winning team was the Red team, with @dennyjones, @StuM, @rwolfe, @ChetlovesMer, @DaveP043, and @billchao taking home the victory at 5 under par*. Sunday, at Cranberry Highlands, the Blue team took home the win with a score of 11 under par* - shout-out to me, @iacas, @Daniel Mc, @DrizZzY, @saevel25, @DaveP043, @NeilR, and @rwolfe for pulling out the split. Skins game was interesting. On Saturday, we had a total of 15 skins (7 gross, 8 net) - and Sunday there were only 3 total! Because I'm a dummy, I threw away the record of who won… but someone can chime in if they remember. 🙂 All together a great weekend, and I'm looking forward to next year already! Thank you to everyone who attended! I'll be adding photos in here shortly (need to convert some)...

  7. Yes, I'm going to cap it at 12 for Sunday; I need to finalize tee times with the course this week so I'm going to cancel the last tee time. Regarding games...here is what @iacas and I came up with. I like the team aspect...and would encourage folks to dress accordingly! 🙂 There will also be net and gross skins game each day (with the remaining $10). Teams Saturday - Reserve Run 1. @NeilR, @vasaribm, @dennyjones, @StuM 2. @DinnerTime, @Carl3, @rwolfe, @ChetlovesMer 3. @Hardspoon, @iacas, @DaveP043, @billchao Sunday - Cranberry Highlands 1. @rwolfe, @NeilR, @StuM, @vasaribm 2. @DaveP043, @saevel25, @dennyjones, @billchao 3. @DrizZzY, @Daniel Mc, @Huffy, @OBlum 4. @Hardspoon, @iacas, @DinnerTime, xxx Rules Team play - blue vs. red overall. Winning team takes all (+$10 each). Each day is a separate competition. Each two-player team must count 9 net (80%) scores per nine holes, with a minimum of 3 scores from each player per nine for a total of 18 scores. Scores are counted relative to par. Scores must be decided and counted before anyone tees off on the next hole. On one hole per nine, the opposing twosome can select one of the players on the other team whose score must count on that hole as long as the team hasn't gotten to their 9 counted scores for the round yet. They must choose the other player on the other nine. (So, team A/B can force C/D to count C's score on hole 4, and D's score on hole 15.) This must be announced before anyone tees off on that hole. The total team score to par (net) will determine the winning team for the day.
  8. Yes! Still possible. I added you to the Google list (see above). Just check off the days you want to play, and we will forward you the DM with payment details.
  9. I have sent a PM to everyone who has signed up with payment information and details.
  10. One of the questions we had regarding games to think about as you answer - would people prefer games where you are playing WITH the members in your foursome? Or, team games where you may be on different teams (or teams of two) and playing AGAINST people in your group?
  11. Here is where we're at so far. (3) more spots left for Saturday, and (2) Sunday. Again, if there are more folks interested in both days, we'll give preference to them.
  12. I've created a Google Sheet to track attendees: 2025 TST Outing - 6/21 & 6/22 - Google Sheets Please add your name and username and the days that you'll be there. If you want to add a "maybe" for one of the days, that's fine, but we'll need a final number and payment by 5/30 so we'll need to convert them to yes's or no's by then.
  13. Lots of people messaging about one or both days. As @iacas said, we will give preference to people who can play both, but as long as we stay under 16 we can accommodate both. I will need to pay in advance, so I’ll send a message this weekend with details on that and some sort of tracker for who is playing when. Can’t wait!
  14. My recommendation for anyone traveling from out of town would be to stay in/near Cranberry. There is a retail stretch of hotels very close to the course. It is about 50 minutes from Reserve Run. I'm not going to be very involved in the hotel selection and such, since I live in the city (about 20 minutes south of Cranberry). One thing to note - Friday night (6/20) is a Pirates home game and fireworks night. For those who are into baseball...while you can't necessarily call what the Pirates play these days "baseball", it is consistently rated one of the best stadiums in MLB and the fireworks nights are pretty spectacular.
  15. Next update: our Saturday (6/21) round is booked at Reserve Run (Poland, OH). It’s about 50 minutes from Cranberry Highlands. Tee times are 12:40, 12:48, 12:56, and 1:04. I’ll send some thoughts on hotel locations, etc. later, but we have our golf booked!!!
  16. Update: we are officially booked for our Sunday round (6/22) at Cranberry Highlands golf course: Course Tour | Cranberry Township - Official Website Visit our gorgeous course and read descriptions about each hole. 11:10am | 11:20am | 11:30am | 11;40am tee times. Still working on the Saturday course.
  17. Current attendee list (10 confirmed, 1 tentative): @Hardspoon @iacas @bkuehn1952 @billchao @ChetlovesMer @Carl3 @StuM @vasaribm @DaveP043 @dennyjones @klineka (Tentative) I assume we'll have (3) total foursomes for planning purposes...maybe 4. I'll start to send out some preliminary thoughts on location and courses this week.
  18. OK...I'm calling this a bit early, but with 10 votes (and a couple things that have popped up for me), I'm gonna say that the weekend is 6/21 and 6/22. Put it in your calendars! More details to follow. @saevel25 and @GolfLug you need to cancel whatever you've got going on that weekend... 🙂
  19. So far, it's looking pretty even. The first weekend (the one in May) is probably out, but the others all seem to work in general. I'll give it until the end of a week for votes and then pick one.
  20. OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there. We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them. Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
  21. As @iacas mentioned, I'm happy to help plan this year. If we want to stick close to Pittsburgh/Ohio, we could play a round at my club: Home | Weirton | Williams Golf & Country Club Williams Golf & Country Club is a private club located in the heart of Weirton, West Virginia. We offer memberships of all varieties and can host any event. It's nothing special, but a nice round and something a little different. Depending how many folks we have, I could possibly also get us on at Allegheny CC.
  22. Probably very little. The only real reasons it would affect it would be if you actually swing differently (which, it sounds like you might - "uncomfortable swinging on mats". You do need to make sure the simulator you're using is a high-quality one with high-speed cameras and radar, etc.
  23. This is really interesting. In the rare case where I feel like I need to play a lower, spinnier shot than my standard "pitch" from inside 40 yards, I've always just tried to hit it like a partial wedge shot. It's always very inconsistent, since it feels like a 10% backswing or something. I'll definitely have to practice this and see how/if it works well enough to use on the course.
  24. I voted "Decent Weather Golfer". I was going to describe my general rules...but then @saevel25 did it for me so I'll just copy his, with one addition: Temp: Above 45 degrees (pending wind at the low end). Below 90 degrees. Weather: On and off rain, I am ok. I may not go out by myself, but I am not skipping a tee time if the weather is just meh. T-storms, or torrential downpour, then it will be a game time decision. Snow is out. I will never play golf when it is that cold out.
  25. Played my first round at my Home Course last weekend. No birdies, but got 6 pars on the card, including three in a row from 15-17. For me, a realistic goal is to Par every hole this year, so this was a good start, including the #2 and #3 handicap holes.
