  1. Probably going to switch out my 3 &4 irons for hybrids because I don't hit them well. I voted for my 6 iron. My 5&4 are shaky at best. Lol
  2. If I had the money I would play golf everyother day during the summer. Lol the public course close to me range from $25 (twilight price) - $75 a round. I'm a 34 year old teacher with 2 kids so I have to watch my money. I play with my dad in his town were it's $17 for non residents and sometimes the person looks out and gives me the $10 resident rate. Lol when I go to dick to shop for training and work out gear I shop exclusively on the clearance rack and use coupons. I wear nike tennis dri fit polo's. Most nike golf polo's the sleeves are too long so I shop for them on ebay. I guess I'm from the digital age but I have gotten my putter fitted at a pro shop and plan to get lessons at one. Personal interaction does matter for certain purchases.
  3. My dad and I played at river oaks plantation and heron point in MB July 4th weekend. Heron point was really wet and not that great but river oaks was fantastic and difficult.
  4. Golf participation and ratings soared during tigers top years. He moved the visual tv needle does golf have another star like that? I think Rory could possible be that person. Not for diversity but just playing top level golf.
  5. Right people want to watch someone they "think" they can relate too.
  6. When I say diversity it's not just black and white it's through all social classes. Make the game accessible to as many people as possible and you will grow the sport.
  7. I went to dicks yesterday to demo a nike hybrid 4. They were very friendly but a new hybrid was $229. My wife got my nike vrs x iron set for $250. I am interested in their fitting services but not until next year. As far as the economic of golf there are three core issues. Affordability ; clubs and green fees are expensive along with shoes. Unless you are diligent and buy used stuff you could easily spend $1,000 just to start. Most 18-30 don't have that kind of money because of student loans or not having a job at all. Diversity; most 18-30 want diversity in culture and color in the activities that they do. Golf just isn't it for diversity at this point in color and class. See affordability Time; let's be honest we enjoy golf but it is time consuming. A career person would have to give up a Saturday or Sunday to play a round of golf. I have 2 kids and I get out twice a month but it's because I teach and have summers free and half days during the year. At some point golf will have to innovate or they will continue to decline. A young charismatic golfer needs to bring excitement to the game or it won't be appealing to young people.
  8. I started playing this spring. I do want to get with a pro for a couple of lessons at some point. Maybe I should get fitted next year. My best score was a 44 at the orchard in Milford ct. It's a 9 hole course and par is a 32. I'm shooting between a 44-50 depending how well I hit my irons that day. Maybe I'll start off with hurt getting my driver and 3 wood fitted they are my most consistent clubs. 200-250 yards on my driver and 150-200 on my 3 wood off the tee. I really like the hybrid 4 maybe I can get one for Xmas. Lol
  9. Never mind I found it. $50 bucks does t seem too bad for 18 a cart and lunch.
  10. What's the price of that special and is it a certain day? I didn't see the special on the website.
  11. Is Candlewood ever reasonable as far as price?
  12. Well my dad lives in Milford and plays with us. I have played at sunset and absolutely hated it. Lol I have not played at richter park yet because it is expensive. Yeah I usually play after work especially if we have a half day. I'm looking to play at some courses north of me in litchfield.
  13. I'm a middle school social studies teacher in CT.
  14. Hello, I'm a 34 year old middle school teacher who has just started golfing this season. I usually play at the orchard in Milford or short beach in Stratford. I'm here to soak up all of the knowledge I can to improve my golf game. Also looking for people to play with.
  15. Also looking at a hybrid 4. I tested it at the local dicks and I hit it pretty well. 130-180 yards I want to get with a pro to work on my swing.
  16. Thanks for the response. What are your thoughts in getting fitted? Or should I leave stock?
  17. I am having ball flight issues myself. But it's inconsistent sometimes I can hit a perfect shot and stick it on the green. Other times it is a line drive. I'm going to try that video in my backyard with some practice balls.
  18. Hello, I am new to the forum and would like to ask a couple of questions about golf club fitting. I have a nike vrs x set of irons my wife purchased for me and a nike covert 3 wood and driver. My only complaint is my 6-4 irons are too long. I'm 5,7 with an athletic build so I have to choke up on the club and often flub it. So I am looking to get a simple fitting with out going all out. The couple of pro shops charge between $175 and 150. Dicks charges $78 for the whole set. Is the quality different or is dicks a big box store willing to take a loss on that service? I have been told I have a sweeping swing which kills me sometimes because I'm not getting the loft which I need to work with a pro about. Any feedback is welcomed. Thanks
