  2. He has the plastic clubs and balls and really enjoys those (for as long as his short attention span will allow). I was wondering from those with smaller children (or older children now), what age did you get them started in golf and how did you start out (some tricks of the trade).
  3. This past Saturday I shot an 81, with 3 - 3 putts and 1 - 4 putt. I found a few things on the range to improve my swing so my focus now is improving on my putting. I'm hoping to be consistently breaking 80 by the end of the summer.
  4. What's an appropriate age for getting children interested in the game of golf? What's some of the first things to work on with younger children? Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2.5 year old son, and while I feel he's too young to get started in the game, I'd like to know what y'all think is an appropriate age and some pointers for getting them started. When I do get him started, I want to focus on keeping it fun for him so we can enjoy playing for many years to come.
  5. The only weather that's going to keep me off the course is lightening. I work all week and my only chance of getting to the course is on the weekend. If the weather isn't ideal (windy, raining, etc.) that's fine with me because I know the course won't be as crowded. This past Saturday they were calling for rain all morning and cloudy that afternoon. My buddy and I set up a tee time for 1:30 pm, the sun came out at 1:15pm, and we had the entire course wide open. We caught one group on hole 12, but they dropped off after that hole and we didn't see anyone else until we got back to the clubhouse.
  6. Goals for this year: Improve on my short game; no fat chips and no 3 putts. If it weren't for duffs and 3 putts, I could break 80 consistently.
  7. 10 dozen balls for $30?!
  8. As stated above, get a putter that feels right to you. I think a major component of golf is feel and what feels right to you may or may not feel right to someone else. Try out several putters before you purchase and see which one feels right. I think putters are the one club in the bag that it doesn't matter if you buy a $40 putter or a $400 putter, they're still going to perform the same.
  9. I typically use Titleist ProV1 or ProV1x but as stated above, I really like the Taylormade Project (a) balls. They have a soft feel to them when hitting them with a driver and irons, and also great feel around the greens. I won a tournament yesterday and ended up buying another dozen ProV1s with my winnings because they didn't have Taylormade balls in the pro shop. I also like Taylormade's TP balls. All in all, Taylormade makes exceptional balls and that'll probably be my go to once I'm done with the ProVs.
  10. Thanks, @mchepp for the advice. I feel like my driver and short game attribute to my higher handicap. My short game is horrific, especially my chipping. I'll work on flattening the shaft, and I'll also get a better camera angle next time. Again, thanks for taking the time to analyze my swing.
  11. I've been Playing Golf for: 13 years but just started playing regularly in the last 2 to 3 years. My current handicap index or average score is: 9.3 My typical ball flight is: Draw or block with my irons and a high fade with my driver The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: The block right with my irons and driver, and sometimes the duck hook with my driver. This is the first time I've video taped my swing. From what I can tell, with the little knowledge I have, it looks like on my back swing, I never turn the toe of the club to the sky. Also, before I finish my back swing, it looks like I've already started shifting my weight forward, causing my hands to lag behind (causing the block right). I've never taken golf lessons so I'm looking forward to the advice provided on here. Videos:
  12. I agree. I played him this week in fantasy based on his course history, but it's going to be tough for him to make the cut now. He needs to come out this afternoon firing on all cylinders.
  13. If I win, I'll choose the DTX Orange Pure Grip to start my 2015 golf season with a PURE advantage! Bubba Watson: -8 Jason Day: -7 Jimmy Walker: -9
