I hit Adams irons/hybrids, but the 2H I ordered is looking like it might not show up anytime soon. I've always hit the Nike Hybrids well and have been thinking about getting the Nike Sumo2 Hybrid instead of waiting. Has anyone hit the 17* Hybrid? Good, bad, ugly? Thanks!

They have the FT-iq in stores now. It's a really good looking club IMHO. I didn't get to hit with it, but it "felt" solid just swinging it in the store. Ya, I know that doesn't mean anything... Of note is that all the FT-iq drivers come with a 45" shaft this year. Maybe the manufacturers are going to get the "accuracy is better than distance" clue soon? Still.. $500 for a driver is just too much....

I dunno about a driver to putt with.. If I putted with it as bad as I drove I'd be in a world of hurt.

Now that's funny. If I only had $1 for every time a golfer said that.

Have been thinking it might be fun to have a 3 clubs or less game with the "crew". At least for a quick 9 after work. Has anyone ever done this? I'm thinking I'd go with my 6, GW and putter... Heck, I'd probably score better than I do with a full bag.

I don't have many, but guys that spend countless time searching for balls bug me. I posted this on another thread and realized it should really be here: After the game yesterday we were sitting down to have lunch overlooking the 18th. It's surrounded by water on the front and left side. We were watching a foursome finish. One of the guys in the foursome proceeded to get out his 20' ball grabber and spend at least 5+ minutes scooping balls out of the lake while his "friends" watched from their carts. Then he did a Gomer Pyle with them. From the veranda, he just looked like such a jackass... All wet and disheveled, dropping and kicking balls across the green as he got himself and his new found gold back to the cart. I can't help but to think it was the best part of his day. He probably couldn't tell you his score, but I can just picture him bragging about how many free Pro V's he got. I dread getting paired with guys like that. You know if they're willing to do it in front of everyone at the 18th they've been doing it all day. Every water hole or hazard area takes an extra few minutes while the cheap ass shows everyone how smart he is by holding up the group so he can get his free balls.

Help reshafting a Titleist 983E driver?
firstcut replied to misty_mountainhop's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Have you contacted Titleist about re-shafting it for you? I know Callaway will re-shaft here in the U.S. -
Once again a review from here is encouraging me to spend my hard earned cash. Thanks Erik. I'd really like to get the club and ball towel, but I'm not willing to reward their BS "Free" $7.50 shipping charge by buying from them directly. Looking for another outlet but not having any luck. Please do not suggest emailing them as I've been down that path with them. Just looking for another source. Suggestions appreciated. Many Thanks!

Shaft Lenght Reduction-will i lose distance
firstcut replied to Island Par's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Technically yes. That said, I hit a pair of 280's + with a Sumo2 cut down to 43.75" yesterday. My ss is 90-100. I came out of my shoes to do it tho... Would I have hit it 295 with the stock 46" shaft? Who cares. BTW.. I haven't noticed an increase in stiffness at all. I *know* it's there because physics says so, but I don't notice it. Cut mine from the butt end and think I *might* notice it more from the tip though. Still trying to figure out if I notice the swing weight change or not. That said, Golfsmith now sells some cool colored "Weight dots" for the head that are virtually unnoticeable. Once you know the swing weight you can screw around with the dots and get a good feeling swing weight for *you*. Good luck! -

I guess in his defense, there wasn't anyone behind them... Not directed at anyone on this thread, it just got me to thinking about yesterday. Should I put this in the "pet peeves" thread?

Bridgestone e6+ vs. Nike PowerSoft
firstcut replied to Armonster20's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I played both today. The Nike is softer and has a better "feel" for me. Spin seemed about the same.. i.e. low. I like the feel of the Nikes on the green better as well. Nothing "wrong" with the e6+ but nothing in the e6+ that's going to get me away from the PD Softs. My buddy has an extra 3 sleeves of the e6+ and he asked me if I wanted them. I said, "well, I'll take em', but I'm not willing to pay you for them". He's going to give them to me anyway.. Can't really comment on higher flight. I was kind of all over the place today and couldn't really notice a difference in trajectory. -
Haha! Are you kidding? The cart girl is there specifically for guys that "got no game". For some it's the only thing that goes right on a tough day. I'd love to mic one of those girls up for a day just to hear the cheese they put up with..

Do you know your drivers swingweight?
firstcut replied to firstcut's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just re-read this... Are you sure your shaft is 120g? That's REALLY heavy. I think it would be impossible for you to have a d2 swingweight with a 120g shaft. Is 120g the total of the shaft and head maybe? I'm a total newb at this, so I'm happy to be corrected and learn something tho... -
Do you know your drivers swingweight?

Great site, I'll check it out. Thanks! Ia gree that there are some generic numbers floating around. I think the 6 may be off for graphite though. The fitters today said 3 swingweight per 1/2" on the butt end was about right. That seemed to play out correctly when we cut my 65g graphite shaft which is 1/2 the weight of your steel.. Now, if I was only good enough to make use of all this "worthless" knowledge. -
You had better quit now. You pretty much just described 1/2 the rounds in the Bay area. Well... except for the cart dudes.. Haven't seen a guy driving a cart yet... Oh.. and there's nothing wrong with flirting with the cart girl if you give her a big tip. That's why it's a girl and NOT a guy.

I've got two drivers I'm playing around with.. A Sumo2 and an FT-i. The sumo was 45" @ d7 and the FT-i was 45" @ d4. I've got the FT-i cut down to 44.5" which brings the swing weight down to d1 and the Sumo2 cut to 43.75" with a swing weight of c9. It's going to be fun to see how the reduced shaft and swing weight affects the shafts. I think I'll like the length of the Sumo2 but prefer the swing weight of the FT-i. And that's not taking into consideration what the reduction is going to do to the stiffness of the shafts... Tomorrow am should be interesting. Anyone else running odd, non standard lengths and swing weights? What's your experience?

Forgiving Drivers for Intermediate Players
firstcut replied to denver_nuggs_15's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I guess I'm really confused now. The superquad is a BANGER! When you hit that thing square it goes a mile. I used to hit mine 290, but couldn't control it for shit. %71 fairways is pretty good... You mentioned loss of distance, but not your average drive length or swing speed. What are you trying to fix? -

OK, I tracked down a "better" yellow ball for you. Not as inexpensive as the TF, but much cooler... sort of.. maybe.. depending.. or not.. http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...f_2028_2666646 -

I don't think I would call the superquad a "forgiving" driver. -
Nike Sumo2 Shaft change help!
firstcut replied to nbaresejr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm a driver slice master myself. I just dropped a R prolaunch red into my sumo2 squared. With the new shaft in the club I have to work hard to slice, but when I get lazy it still happens. The R flex plays a bit stiffer than the average Regular shaft so it's good for a "tweener" swing like you have. The red is a low launch shaft, so if you have trouble getting the ball up, you could look at the blue. The shafts are supposed to be very similar, with the red being a low launch and the blue being high launch. Last week I had my best round ever with a 90 on a narrow 135 slope course. A lot of that score happened because the driver was keeping me on or close to the fairway. Good luck! -
Two thoughts: 1. *Most* courses have their cards online if info is the key motivator. 2. You could try to email the shop pro(s) and ask for one. If you offer to pay for it I'd bet most of them would send it off for free anyway. Although some of those places may get those requests often enough not to do it... Good luck!

I have been through the exact same process as you. I kept coming back to the Nike soft ball. I just don't like hitting rocks. I'd try the TF for sure, but at $16 a dozen, the Nikes are a pretty good deal too. If it's the yellow that's important to you, I think Pinnacle makes a decent yellow ball. It was softer than the TFs and I liked it better. Enjoy the game!
