In my garage where I had my indoor setup at I had the unit on the mat I was hitting off of. And off to the side in the protective case that is sold for the skytrak. I've used two mats, one was homemade with foam flooring underneath green outdoor type carpet. The other was a small hitting pad that I bought at the store with rough and fairway strips on it. That one wasnt big enough to have the skytrak on it so it was always off to the side. When I use these mats and driver the ball is either ½ to ¾ above the crown(ping g25). Lighting is 3 lightbulbs in my garage. Plenty enough for perfect lighting it always read shots indoors ( outdoors was a different story). Yes I used real balls that's the only way to use a skytrak, it takes pictures of the ball right after you hit it and it predicts flight from what it sees. Honestly I can't gripe about the shorter shots (anything under 175 yards). I found that to only be in error of about 10 yards less than what I expect to see on the course. My problem and personal belief was this unit had issues reading high ball speed. The reasoning I use is I carry my 7 somewhere in the 175-180 range. The unit would sometimes depict what I felt as nice clean shots as worm burners barely getting a foot off the ground. This was the problem I had with my six iron and up to driver. I did find I could actually hit up far more than normal to get what would read as a high launch angle 15-20(for me) with driver and get carry distances of 230 ish. I'm not trying to boast about distances but I can regularly hit driver 290-310 on course without wind or elevation changes. But anytime I would hit driver it was always low and would only carry around 175-200. When I was testing the unit outside at my range I was hitting into a tree at the end of the range that is 275 yards with wind into me and the shots I got to land into the tee only read Mac distance of 265. I wanted the skytrak to practice mid to long game at home, the unit wasn't able to read anything I wanted so I sent it back. Full discloser the unit was a previously owned one and had 250 shots on it when I got it. I'm thinking it was a demo unit. If you were only using it for shots no further than 175 and these results are typical for a skytrak I would find it acceptable. PS I wrote this while my daughter was rambling on to me, so if I'm not clear just ask me on something.

I was very much in the same position. The price point worked, it simulated what I wanted, and gave me numbers I wanted. I guess I'll just have to start saving for a gc2 system.

Yes, I did contact them had an extensive conversation. The only thing they asked was to see where the laser pointed relative to a piece of paper set by the unit. That test turned out OK. But what they couldn't answer was why it wouldn't read anything from 5 iron up accurately.

OK final verdict is I returned the skytrak. It wasn't able to read shots outside very well on a cloudy day. Also when it did pick up shots it wouldn't resemble anything that actually happened. Ball would fade but draw on the simulation. Still couldn't read fast ball speeds with any regularity. Overall was disappointed by the unit. Was really hoping for a diamond in the rough with this but it let me down

Took the skytrak to the range again. Disappointing because it cannot read anything if it's in direct sunlight..... Even though I was told it did great in sunlight. On a whim I checked the unit levelness on my floor at home. I set the bare unit on my hard wood floor and noticed the bubble of the level they sent me was nowhere near level. I checked against a digital level I own and found out that my floor in that exact spot has a .1° slant (nothing big) but put the level on the skytrak and find that it read 0° but the bubble was completely off center. So I yanked their bubble off and figured out that with the bubble centered I would have lost a few degrees of launch. I've got to try it out again, I'm hoping this thing starts working.

Because this was a company sponsored demo/fitting session they wouldn't allow me to bring it. I wish I could have had it though I was hitting the Wilson fg tour 100 blades like I should be on Tour..... Or their simulator (about golf). Isn't as accurate as it showed.

My optishot "works ". You could say that. It reads but it over exaggerates everything and ads unrealistic ball flights to clubs that physically can't turn that far. I'm not a great golfer by any means but I can shape shots, adjust trajectories, add spin, etc to my shots.

Did you practice the winter before you bought the optishot? I would be more willing to believe the winter "practice" not the optishot was probably more of what helped you. I myself have gone from one season to another getting better during the winter simply because I was able to hit balls in my garage all winter long. This winter not so much and I'm seeing that I didn't improve quite like I wanted because of that.

Ended up picking up a click gear, rovix I was talking to the guy at the store and it was cheaper than I thought. He made an offer I couldn't refuse and bam took the thing home.

Well, I can't pass up looking at this $25 sun mountain speed cart, but to be honest caddy tek has been an idea festering in the back of my head. Very cheap and what I've seen made of decent quality material. It seems to me that most of the expensive ones you seen to be buying a brand instead of an item.

That is my only concern

I'm actually going to look at one with tubes, a sun mountain i believe. I hope it's in good condition Is this from experience?

I took the unit to a grass range without mats, I still was not able to get decent launch or carry angles. Re edited the post because I thought I sounded like jerk

Oh yes, sorry am still testing this thing out. First night I set it up used mainly 8,9,5,6 irons. The first night I had issues with the launch, and general direction. Only swung driver a couple of times with terrible results, I couldn't get it over 200 yards total. I'm not bragging but I can consistently hit 280-310 yard drives and I know it. But it wouldn't read it. Second outing took it the range, primarily focused on driver this day. Longest was 260 after ide leveled the unit to artificially get my launch numbers up. It seems it likes to read very low launch numbers 4°-5° tops of 12° on a skyball. Still majority of drives in the 220 yard range. I am going to a fitting today and thinking about bringing my skytrak to test against their launch monitor. Short story so far is the irons are spot on. Driver no.... But I will do more checking into this thing. On a side note I seen a picture of a LD guy using this thing so it had to be able to read my ball speed numbers.

If I get half the time playing that I want I'll be looking at 175 rounds this year. Don't know how walking will affect this situation this year though. I was it Friday looking around in Dick's and saw top flight had a nice cart that I liked. The bag boys are to pricey imo

Day two: got off work, changed and went to the course. Started off with a bucket at the range hitting multiple irons at the same target. Got bored of hitting balls at nothing and sent out for a quick 9 on the "temporary greens "(flag stuck in the fairway). Worked on controlling the driver during the round, keeping the ball in play, completely fell apart in the chipping department. Sir 4+5 over depending on what you deem the shortened par 4(190 yards). Tomorrow I think I'm going to do some driver work, then chipping driver again then chipping again. Until then

I will do, I'm going to give this thing a thorough testing in the 30 days I have if I think it's even slightly not up to the standard it's gone. I feel personally that I'm spending 2k on an item it should do what they say. I'll be posting videos on YouTube and probably here talking about my findings and feelings with it mainly because I feel most people that are producing videos are paid adverts to get the product out right now.

Just finished the ordering process for the skytrak, I'm super excited. I've been using an optishot but have been severely disappointed with its ability to even correctly read or predict club path. Now the waiting commences as I sit and stare out the window waiting for the UPS man to get here....

The quote was for adding on unlimited electric cart. The actual golfing pass is another $800 so that's $1600 yearly. It just gets to pricey for a sub par course.

Why you the range and suffered the cooler weather. Spent first 15-20 minutes doing chipping to certain targets. Then switched to increasing distance after every chip shot and then back. Moved into some of my sister wedges changing flights but hitting to the same targets, then went to an eight iron and switched between drawing and fading the ball every shot. Finished out with 4 iron working on drawing fading and changing the trajectory randomly.
