  1. Well, occasionally there are some 5-some that are pretty fast paced. But i guess i've been running into one of those 5-somes that has 1 or 2 hackers or 1 or 2 guys who take 20 practice swings and then step back and take another 20 practice swings and then hit the ball out of bounce. Also to avoid the 5somes, i usually to play really early in the morning but i'm still pissed from this past saturday when we teed off at 7am and finished at little over 12 because of the 5 some right in front of us.
  2. I'm not sure how it is in other parts of US but in southern california you occasionally run into these 5-somes who just ruins the entire round of golf. And it's always that 5-some group hit the balls to the bushes and spends like 10mins looking for it. From my experiences, the average round takes about 5:30~ to 6 hours when there's 5-some group in front of you. You hit a ball and wait for 5~10mins, and it's hard to get into the groove. i really don't understand why would any course allow 5-some to begin with and i really don't understand why anyone would want to play with 4 other people and spend 6 hours on the course. sometimes i feel like some of these people feel obligated to find that 5th person. Golf courses should BAN 5-somes.
  3. So i've decided to spend a little more time on the LM the other day at the Golfsmith. Luckly the one in ontario,CA has a pretty decent size area with the net is about 50 feet away so that you can actually get the better feel of hitting the ball. i think the people there are starting to recognize my face so that i starting to feel little awkard just using the machine and walk away. oh wells... at least they don't pressure you to buy anything. i'm about to buy a new driver titleist 907 D2 but just waiting until the new 909 ones come out so that the D2 price will drop probably to $199. i've tested the diamana blue 65 and UST proforce 75. i've hit those on the LM for a good one hour but the numbers weren't that much off between the two. I felt the slight difference in the feel. so i guess end of the day the LM didn't really help deciding between the 2.
  4. you should buy it, charge people $10 per use and after 500 people, you can make your money back. Shoot, i'll pay $10 to use it if i can use it freely without feeling pressure to buy anything else.
  5. I definitely think that LPGA's language requirement is stupid and i really think that they mishandled the whole situation. If the real intention is like what they are claiming, to help korean... i mean foreign players to be more marketable and to help LPGA more marketable, why can't they just implement a program to assist foreign players to help improve english instead of jumping right into making it a requirement with the suspension as a penalty. Say the language program fails because of the low participation, then they can add penalties so that the transition will be smoother. This leads me to believe that LPGA has other real intentions for this language requiremnt. Some of the things that cross my mind were, 1. There are way too many korean players on the tour and the number looks to increase more and more and LPGA is trying to discourage Korean players to even try to qualify for the tour. Let's be honest here. They are just not marketable. Who here can name the winner of this year's LPGA british open and US open champion? I can't but i know that they were koreans. who won the US open, pga championship and british open for PGA? heck who won the Wachovia championship? Anthony Kim. I think the problem here is that LPGA is not lacking players who are fluent in English but they lack players with personality and character. Although there are many haters of Michelle Wie out there, what LPGA need is players like Michelle wie but who can win tournaments. 2. LPGA simply needed some attention and publicity. There are no such thing as bad publicity. This controversy is all over the media for past few weeks. LPGA has gotten more media coverage in the past few weeks than probably the past couple years combined. 3. The commissioner has just gone insane or may be she just hates koreans winning. On a closing note, how about LPGA implementing a mini skirt rule. No pants or shorts. The skirt can't be longer than 15inches. This will help players to be more marketable and attract more sponsors and the proAMs will be a sell out event every single time. but do we really want to see everyone in the tour wearing mini skirts?
  6. Great point firstcut. I guess if you spend fair amount of time on the launch monitor, you can analyze your swing better even if your inconsistent. i guess the difficulty is 1. stores don't want to spend a long time to analyze your swing and collect data. 2. hard to find guys who really knows what he's doing and cares. 3. they genrally try to recommend the general that they have it in their stock. may be i'll just have a thick skin and spend hours on the monitor and see what numbers i get...
  7. I'm a bit skeptical about the launch monitors. First of all i feel like unless you are a low handicapper who has a pretty consistent swing, it's hard to come up with an accurate results through the monitor. i'm a 14-handicapper and when i do the launch monitor, i'm all over the place in terms of swing speed and launch angle. For instance, when i went to golfsmith, i was hitting in the low 90s but when i went over to the roger dunn, i was hitting in the high 90s and occasional low 90s and low 100s. i feel like the fitting systems that the companies offer are more effective for low handicap consistent players and it's just a marketing gimmick for the rest of the general average golfers.
  8. thanks for the inputs. Aldila VS Proto 65 Titleist Diamana Blue 65 UST Proforce V2 75 so these are the stock shafts. which one do you recommend?
  9. I'm thinking about getting a new driver and i narrowed it down to new taylor made tour burner TP, new taylormade tour burner and titleist 907 D2. I'm leaning towards the titleist because i'm not comfortable spending $400 on a driver (TP), not sure about the light weight with slightly closed face for the regular tour burner, especially with my natural tendency being a draw. Now my dilema is what loft and which shaft do i get? i've been playing the cleveland launcher 460cc with Adila NV 65 with 9.5 loft. i always felt my launch angle was bit high and the shaft felt kinda light. On a ideal hit, it will go about 280~290. On a bad hit, it'll go straight into the canyons and waters. My swing speed seems to be in the mid 90s. i tried the launch monitor today at the local golf shop but i'm a bit skeptical about those machine because i don't feel the same hitting the ball in the small closed area as opposed to the wide open driving range or the actual course. anywho, i kept getting the lower than ideal launch angle with 9.5 with stiff. Would i be returning the club right away if i buy the D2 with 8.5 with X stiff shaft? I just feel like if i get the 8.5 with X stiff, i might be looking at 300. Which shaft is the best one out of the 3 stock shafts? Cleveland launcher 460cc Taylormade tour burner tp 14.5 585H X-18 pro-series 3-pw vockey 52, 56, 60 Tour #1 white hot
