why did tiger hit a long iron off the last? He is 2 over and he can easily make it in 2, unlike tiger. Disappointing round also, putted as bad as me, not even 1 birdie
-
Thank god he wears a hat on the course

This article was posted on golf.com, it's truely comical and the guy answering questions could not be more wrong SOURCE Here is a picture of tiger in his downsing in 2000, harldy open, looks dead square to a fraction shut to me, this guy is complete bs

My hips are way to active on my downswing, they are very fast also, when I do hit the ball solid and straight say with my 7 iron it usually goes around 170 with no wind, but today I was at the course and and could feel my lower body getting a little ahead of myself on downsing and i could feel myself being blocked and i would hit a slice I would love for someone to give me a drill to work on to try and keep my lower body more stable on my downsing, one feeling that sometimes works for me is just feeling like i am swinging with all my arms
-
I feel my downsing timing is the best part, backswing still needs some work, Im hitting the ball very well atm but I still feel there is room for improvement, I try to copy adam scotts swing, if you guys got any tips for me I would be much appreciated, thanks

....thats because it never happened before, this was the first time Mcilroy and Tiger were in the same group playing golf in a charity skins game at memorial Im sure Mciloy has been waiting for this day his whole life to tee it up with his golfing hero tiger. 2 golfers from differant generations, hard to imagine tiger will be 40 in 5 years, It seems just like yesterday he was the new young gun on the block.

We were in a competition so skipping holes is not an option, and as for when they went for a coffee break, just as we got off the 9th green they had seen us so they practically ran out of the clubhouse so we wouldn't get ahead of them, I know alot you think I'm some arragant little kid who needs to ''grow up'' as fairway said but im sick and tired in getting caught up in situations like this as it affects my golf game aswell as my patience

An incident occured last weekend on saturday when me and my 2 cousins were playing our local course, we went in the the reception to confirm our tee time and we seen four ladys who were just about to head out before us, we overheard one lady saying ''whats the best golf ball for a beginner?'' Me and my 2 cousins looked at each orther and said ''What are we in for''. So we went out to the first and we seen them tee off, I was glad to see they coud actaully hit the ball a decent 80 yards down the fairway to start so I thought it may not be that slow and even if it is surely they will let us play through but I soon found out that was not to be the case. After 6 holes it took 2 hours behind them! They never even looked at us at this stage or looked to ever try to let us play through them, the whole course was held up and they lost 4 or 5 holes on the group ahead. On the 7th tee was a dogleg par 5 and they were around 300 yards down the fairway and i was sick of waiting so i decided to hit my 3 wood to avoid them but it ended up hitting the path and hitting one of there golf bags, I didn't shout fore because I had no idea it was going to hit the path through the middel of the fairway. After 9 holes they went in for a quick coffee break aswell (you know women, gotta have some coffee) so that slowed things even more So finally after 11 holes as we are standing on the par 3 160 yard tee box, we notice the course ranger go up to them on the green as they are putting, it looks like we are finally going to be able to play through, the women step back to let us take our shots, then as we head down to to te green my cousin says to the ladies ''Thanks'' and then they just look at us with the biggest sour face you could imagine it was hilarious, then when we were walking off the green one of the women said ''were we too slow for ye lads'' we just laughed and walked to the next tee. It gets better, as we tee off the next hole we look back and see the women rushing up to our tee and getting ready to hit very fast, we knew exactly what they were up to. The next hole my cousin hit a snap hook shot onto the fairway the women were on but it was no where near them like over 100 yards up, a few mins later one of the women came up to us and said ''did you never hear of the word four lads, you could have hurt one of us, and you sonny hit my bag on the 7th and didnt shout fore'' I quickly explained that it had hit the path so i dint have time to shout fore but she didn't listen and said '' I'm going to report you to the course manager''. In my head i was laughing but then looked at my cousin and I could see he was fuming, next thing he said was '' well you can get the f*** off the course you old bunch of hags, this is a golf course not a F***king social tee party go home'' The lady and her friends said we get kicked off the course even though were junior representation of the club and im junior captain and I happen to be good friends with all the staff and they all know what women are like, well...most I'm not saying all women are like this but alot are very stuck up, some men can be like this to but it more common found to be women. I would like to hear your opinions on this stroy weather or not you think im too harst on women, obiously my cousin went a little over the line but they tried his patience

You hit the nail on the head there my friend, this is exactly what I do and I walways end up leaving myself a 10 footer back to save par. Btw guys thank you all very much for all the tips, I didn't expect to get this much feedback, I still havn't played since last sunday because I have school exams this week but summer starts this friday for me and I will be heading down to the putting green to try out these drills you guys have advised, Graham

Yes m8 you have to see to believe, it really is that bad, outside of competition I putt better maybe only 2 or 3 three putts because im under less pressure but in competition I tend to get very jerky on my putting and smack the ball 10 feet past the whole from 15 feet, I really was expecting better than 10 over because 2 days ago me and my cousin went out for 9 holes for practice and I was -3 through the 9, shame
-
alot of people say youngsters are great putters with lots of confidence well i am the opposite. Today I shoot an 82 on my home course (par 72) I 3 putted seven times...SEVEN! I also missed 2 short birdie putts and a short par save all together I had 43 putts. Whats most anoying is I hit the ball so well and my chipping around the green is quite decent. on the 610 yard par 5nd I hit a drive 290+ down the midde, 250+ down the fairway for my second, little wedge to green then 3 putt from 13 feet..... And whats most sad about this is my putting even used to be worse, I use to get very wristy on putts so have recently gone cross handed which has minimized the 3 putts to less than half. Another junior at the club hits the ball way worse than i do, I mean hes short and slices and thins the ball alot and is not a great ballstricker but he can putt decently and still beat me people stop and come over to me at the range and are amzed how well I hit the ball, they will say '' god you must be off scratch.'' I say ''no im off 11 I can't putt'' How does one come over a mental block with putting? I would love to go one full 18 holes without a single 3 putt as I have never done it before
-
What makes his wrists and forarms so special? If he can do it we should be able to do it, he is human you know
-
I was watching the eurpean tour golf earlier and they showed alot of sergio and his swings, did anyone else notice that move he makes as he gets to the top of his backswing, he barely hinges his wrists at all going back but when te dowsing begins he makes so much lag almost like ben hogan
-
I sort of the same, when im not in a competition im a scratch golfer but when I play in competition i turn into my usual 11 over par shitness, my scorecards are always very odd aswell, it wud b like par, par, par, par, birdie, triple, double, double, par, par, par, par, par etc...

Need some drills to stay down on my irons...
GrahamD replied to GrahamD's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Thanks for the tips guys, I will try bumping my hips more towards the taget next time -
Lately I have been lifting out of alot of my shots just as im about to hit the ball, I hate the feeling of hitting a fade thiner and want to get rid of this completely because when I do connect with it the ball it goes a mile I've found the best way so far to fix it is think of driving the iron into the ground where the ball is and there is no way I can hit fat but when I do that I can actually get to steep and take a HUGE divot which hurts my wrists
-
I put this together yesterday, thought I would share with you guys
-
If I want my PW to go a little less, I will narrow my stance more which means I won't be able to turn back as far but still feel like im doing a full swin without having to choke down, this is wha most pros do aswell.
-
It's proven the more divot you take, the futher the ball flies
-
Thanks for the tips guys, I think my main problem with putting is that I have no routine what so ever unlike my full shots where I will do two short practice swings, stand behind the ball, get my grip in place and slowly walk in to the shot, with putting I usually just read line from one angle, step right up and hit it Im going to work on my routine tomorrow when I get to the practice green :)
-
here is what ur doing wrong, - keep your right elbow close to your side during your backswing, you have it completly flying at the top - your also starting your dowswing with your shoulders and coming over the top

I'm 18 years old, Today at my local course I shot a +15 over par (33pts) in a competition and I felt gutted after my round, only 2 days ago I played a practice round with my cousin and I shot +1 over the 18 holes. I can't explain it, I didn't even feel nervous on the course, I just kept 3 putting from everywhere, I completely lost all feel around the greens, I got off to a good start with 5 pars and a birdie then after that my whole round just crashed and I didn't make a single par for the rest of the round, I was fuming, I keep hitting my drives dead down the middle 280+ then hitting an iron to the green, on for birdie and just 3 put, every put for par just kept lipping out of the hole, not only that but I was chaning my putter stroke on nearly every hole just to find something, but it only got worse. I guess this last year of grinding practice for me with my ballstriking really means nothing if I cant putt, I deserve it tbh, I spent way to much time practicing ballstriking, and hardly no time on the putting green. Alot of the guys at the club couldn't believe how bad I played after seeing my in the range this morning, I got complemented by many people on how well I was hitting the ball, they were even joking around saying to me ''so when you turning pro'' or ''how is your handicap only 11?'' The old saying is right ''Drive for show, put for dough'' If anyone has any goodtips for putting to get in a good routine or any good tips for pace putting I would much appreciate it thanks
