  1. i am completely random when it comes to blow up holes and recovering from them....point in case today i had a 7 on the 2nd hole, birdie then next hole and play the rest of the front nine in even par, missing several birdie putts, i played lights out. on hole 12 hit it behind a tree, punched out short of the green then 3 putted for a double, which then started a string of 4 straight doubles....
  2. personally i have no clue how bubba even hits the ball with that swing
  3. my nemisis hole is #4 at my home course, its a 260 yard par 4, a slight dogleg left and downhill. i can get there with anything from a 4 iron to a 3 wood. its the easiest hole on the whole course. i always hit a bad tee shot and even if i hit a good one, there is a huge bank in front of the green, that u can run the ball down (its what the old men do), i usually try to land the ball on the green, but if u go over its straight down another 10 feet across the cart path and into pine trees, which is eventually where i end up and get a 5 or a 6, its awful...the green btw is probably not even 100 square yards, its tiny.
  4. i shot a 91/83 in a two day tourney yesterday and today....i couldnt hit my driver worth anything, i think i hit about 5 fairways combined on both days. and my putting was a bit off too. ooooh well. anybody got any tips about playing well for a whole round??? today i shot a 38 on the front with a 7 on a par 4 that i was sitting in the middle of fairway exactly 150 out after my drive, and 5 putts that looked like they were going in and either died just as it got to the hole, lipped out, or burned the edge. then i went on my merry way and shot a 45 on the back. it always seems i get unlucky right when i need a good break to get back on track. i was 6 over on the back and i smashed a perfect drive on number 15 about 300 yards right down the middle of the fairway only to have my ball be sitting in the a halfway grown back divot. so it was basically a small hole. and i ended up doubling that hole when i really needed a par or birdie, but thats golf, or at least my expericiences with it.
  5. i'm sure someone already said this but i dont feel liking going back in the thread and looking... tiger showed us at the open championship that distance doesnt matter at all. your driver is not a scoring weapon. all tiger did was keep his ball in play and he decimated the field.
  6. no but i wanted to... some chick from my town went to it...courtney ellenbogen, i figure she didnt get very far since i havent seen anything in the newspaper....her dad used to be my teeball coach (i love living in a small town)
  7. shot a 41 playing captains choice with myself (2 balls), but with a twist. i took my worst shot each time. its kinda cool, you guys should give a try sometime when the course isnt that crowded.
  8. when i'm just playing around i will...in tournaments and high school matches of course not cuz its against the rules. but since i dont even track my score when i'm just playing around i dont think it matters... (since i'm hitting 3 balls anyways)
  9. as much as i hate them i think wvu will be a team to watch this year. Their qb (i cant remember his name) looked really impressive against tech last year...even though we still won!!! unfortunately i dont think the hokies have a chance of doing much of anything this year...but we do have 8 home games, which are always fun
  10. i usually am able to practice an hour or two each day and then have high school or junior matches once or twice a week. so i put 25-50%
  11. well i'll go ahead and take the bait and see what happens... if you go by scoring average tiger is only 1.005 times better than phil.
  12. i wasnt saying he did have them, i was just saying wouldnt that be interesting if he did. i guess i was thinking aloud. i agree that tiger is a freak (in the best possible sense of the word).
  13. here is another way to think about this question. if phil was 2 times better, would he be better than Tiger? personally i think yes. and another thing, mentally when you say 2 times, at least to me, it doesnt seem as much as 100% better. i am a HUGE tiger fan, but i dont really think he is two times better than phil.
  14. i used to be competitive...but now i'm like who cares? i think its probably cuz i have 4 sisters and no brothers so i never really have to compete with anyone at home. i have considered being really focus and concentrating solely on my golf during matches and stuff and even doing something like ragatona was talking about, but when i think about it, whats more important? beating some guy in a high school match that i'll forget about in a couple months, or starting a relationship with those kids and being friendly and being as we play all public schools and i go to dayspring CHRISTIAN academy, showing those kids that i am different. cuz am i showing love for people if i am doing everything i can to make them play bad or beat them? i still try to play as good as possible, and i enjoy pressure and playing with people watching me, but i hate setting myself against people.
  15. hit the ball 3 feet from the hole on a 142 yard par 3 with a 9 iron. the funny thing was i was extremely close to switching to an 8 iron cuz there was a bit of wind, but then i decided i couldnt bring myself to hit a 8 iron from 142. it was pretty cool having everyone watching thinking the ball was going in the hole, too bad it didnt. i did make the putt though.
  16. i play in the heritage invitational, which is a big high school tourney (they had 24 teams). i ended up shooting an 80 (40/40), not too bad, but not that great either. i hit 4 fairways, 10 greens, and had 35 putts, with 4 3 putts. I do have to say its a HUGE improvement over my 96 last week. i now actually have confidence back and i have an idea that i'm going to try in our match thursday which will hopefully help. (the idea being to not think ahead and hit one shot at a time, which is really hard for an analytical person like me)
  17. dont even try to get anyone's sympathy... having people give you clubs to try out...what a shame, and if the workload gets to hard just send some to me and i'll be glad to test them and write you some reviews
  18. what a great fundraising idea.... another thing, you think pros would use different bags if they had to carry their own???? cuz those bags are like XXL Staff Bags, crazy monstrousities of a bag. (not really but would u want to carry that thing more than just from your car to your cart?)
  19. heck, if i was playing in a pro tourney i would most definitely call over a rules official for everything. just to be on the safe side. even dropping from a cart path, anything, i wouldnt risk getting a penalty for something stupid. the funny thing is, is that if it was some other random person in the women's british open (or is it the women's open championship?) no one would even mention the penalty, or they would just say oh thats a bad break. so a bit of a double standard if you ask me.
  20. or maybe its those nike clubs he is using that are souped up... now wouldnt that be interesting, if golfers started "souping" up their clubs and stuff to make them go farther, if thats even possible.
  21. wearing pants isnt that bad. especially considering the fact that they are not carrying their own bag and just have to walk to their balls. and i agree with everyone who says it makes them look more professional.
  22. i agree with mennon, except i would like to take it a bit farther. take the masters for example. i mean the play the same stinkin course each year, not just the same style like the Open Championship, but the same course. come on, where is the fun in having to watch the Masters being played at Augusta every year
  23. as the saying goes...every shot is important. if you cant hit a good drive you can be in position to hit the green. if you cant hit a good iron you cant be on the green to putt. and if you have a bad short game you can score low. so all the aspects of the game are important. On the PGA tour the most important is putting, personally. Take Joe Durant for example. One of the best ballstrikers on tour, if you dont believe me look it up. the problem for him is that he isnt an exceptional putter. He is probably a better putter than most every other golfer in the world. but you have to make those 30 foot birdie putts to win on the pga tour and he doesnt make those very often. personally i would be absolutely tickled if i could be a pure consistent ball striker. If i hit 14 greens in regulation per round and had so so putting and recovery i would be fine. but i still voted that a perfect short game is the most important
  24. i shot a 96 today....needless to say as number one seed on my hs team we got killed and for the record i want to say that i hate pete dye and that he seriously screwed up designing the course i played today. and on an interesting side note i drank 4 liters of water while playing today...it was probably like 100 degrees here in Va, just crazy if you ask me.
  25. shot an 84(40/44) in my tourney today....boy was it hot. I dont really like the course we played on, too many blind shots and it was a pain in the but to find balls. My group probably spent half our time looking for balls cuz the rough was high and you simply couldnt see where your ball went most of the time.
