  1. I don't blame Ryan and I suspect what he wrote is the truth. I said in a different thread that I'm hopeful that Reed has changed. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until he does something to change my mind.
  2. I live about a half hour from Hurricanes warehouse/store in Decalb Illinois. First class operation with great customer service and great prices. I've purchased Cobra irons, various drivers by Cleveland Taylormade and Adams and other accessories from them. Never have I had a problem and they always seem to beat their competitions prices. I have no affiliation other than being a satisfied customer. cubdog
  3. I'm surprised no one has mentioned buying used golf balls. I've been using them for years. The near mint ones look and perform, for me, like new ones at a fraction of the cost. cubdog

  9. If shaving counts I would think cooking has to count. Well, unless Elvis is shaving someone else maybe. cubdog
  10. I searched this thread and apparently I'm the only one much involved in audio. I have various stereo systems both tube and solid state and way to many speakers. I build my own pair of open baffle speakers earlier this year. They turned out very good, sounding anyway. I'm a big Jazz fan so I need all this gear to listen to the music with. I also collect art, painting and sculpture, and early 20th century American Art Pottery. I really need to get some cheaper hobbies! cubdog
  11. I belong to way to many forums. Almost all are audio related. I'm a big Jazz fan and I'm heavily invested in stereo gear. Amplifiers, tube and SS, speakers etc. I get pretty involved with audio forums during the winter months. Can't play much golf in northern Illinois this time of year. cubdog
  12. I have a Pal 4 that I used for years. Great putter, great feel. I'd still be using it except that I've switched to center shaft putters that fit my stroke better. Enjoy the new putter! cubdog
  13. I've looked at those before. Might have to try them next year. cubdog
  14. I understand that and that's why I said weight and feel go hand in hand. I also pointed out that design has a role in the feel. The scale gave me some interesting numbers but I just used it for fun. Never-the-less it is of interest, to me, what my putters weigh. Thanks for the comment. cubdog
  15. I can't be the only one who thinks about putter weight. It probably has the biggest impact on my putting. Getting the right weight and feel even trumps a putters look at least for me. cubdog
  16. Took me a second but I'm old and slow. Golf can be a dangerous sport in many ways. cubdog
  17. I just bought a new putter, a Yes Stacy12 model. My wife commented on how heavy it felt to her. She uses a Wilson mallet which is similar in size and shape to the Yes. I don't think the Stacy is heavy at all and I, in fact like a little heavier putter. So, I got out the kitchen scale and weighed a few putters I have around. Interesting, to me anyway results. Here's the stats. Wilson 459, 35in, mallet, 537g, standard grip Seemore FGP2, 34in, mallet, 570g, oversized grip Seemore FGP, 35in, blade, 513, oversized grip Yes!,Stacy12, 35in, mallet, 541, standard grip Ping Pal 4, 33in, blade, 532, oversized grip I was surprised that the Seemore FPG is the lightest although I shouldn't be. Even though I like the way it looks and feels I've never putted very well with it. I was also surprised that the Ping weight as much as it does. It's the oldest of my four putters and I always putted well with it but switched to center shafted putters and like them better. So, is weight of much importance to you. Or is feel most important? Likely it's a combination of the two. But I've found that a putters design can influence how heavy it feels. I believe, that despite my like of heavier putters, it's the feel that I'm reacting to more than the weight. What do you think? cubdog
  18. I agree! More importantly though I love your avatar and user name. cubdog
  19. I hate the way so many internet companies are resorting to this kind of tricky marketing. It might not be dishonest but I don't like feeling that I've been duped. cubdog
  20. Love my Traeger! Ribs sound like a good choice. Golf for sure but no work for me. cubdog
  21. Check the link WUTiger provided. cubdog
  22. I've owned and enjoyed "knockoff" or whatever you want to call them. They were TA 845 clones and they were excellent irons. The thing is today, with new clubs being introduced by the major manufactures every year, last year clubs get steeply discounted. I just recently bought a brand new set of Cobra Amp Cell irons for $270.00. I've already seen them for a bit less than that. Why anyone would buy a used set of Acer irons for the same money is beyond me. cubdog
  23. Old thread I know but I can offer my perspective. I've played Taylor Made R7 TP irons for about six years. This past month I decided I needed something a bit more forgiving. I too looked at Rocketbladez and Amp Cell Irons. I was surprised that the R Bladez had a very similar feel to my R7s. However I went with the Cobras primarily because I really liked the looks of the Silver model plus the price was considerably better than the TM. Also, I play Cobra Baffler Hybrids that I really hit well. While I still prefer the feel of my old R7s and I like their thinner topline the Cobras are definitely more forgiving. Overall I'm pretty happy with them. Right now there are some killer deals out there for these irons. If you need a change or just want to try something different you could do worse. BTW the newer version, the Bio Cells, do have a thinner topline, that I like. I'd certainly consider a set of those in a couple of years when they too will drop in price. cubdog
  24. I got my information straight from TM customer service. I did demo the clubs before buying but obviously not enough. I guess I learned a valuable lesson. cubdog
  25. I hate the Burner hybrids! I bought a 3H and 4H not realizing,(my fault), that they are set to a 4 degree draw position. They are not marketed as a draw club but I should have checked the spec. I always hook them badly even though my normal shot is a fade. I'm not bad mouthing TM, I play R7TP irons and a Burner driver. My hybrids are Hogans. cubdog
