Advice on choosing Scotty Cameron Putter
jforget1 replied to jforget1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Appreciate all the feedback. Think I am going to go over to the local golfers warehouse and try a bunch out. See what feels best. -
Have been struggling lately with my putter and I am looking at upgrading to a Scotty Cameron. The current 3 ball putter I use has a very angled shaft that ends up forcing me into a position that is not working for me. I like to work with a more pendulum based swing where my arms hang down more. A pretty straight up and down shaft. I am thinking that I might benefit from a shorter shaft as well. With all the setup options, looking for advice on what might be the best for a pendulum type swing. I am looking at the various Studio Select models. Any advice is appreciated.

OK it sounds like a round is not an option. My only times would be in the afternoon and I am not a fan of heat. Appreciate the info.

Heading out for a trip to Tucson next week and I am flying into Phoenix, will get in with enough time for a quick 9, and I am not great in the heat. Am looking for suggestions on either Phoenix or Tucson, can play right after flying into Phoenix or after working in Tucson the next day.

Appreciate the info, will check them out. Although that website could use a major overhaul. That thing looks like it was made in 1995. -
Lessons with video analysis in RI
jforget1 replied to jforget1's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
What were the prices like? I am thinking it might be a little steep. I am also looking at Cranston CC, they have the video analysis I am interested in as well. Have about $200-$300 I have slotted for a series of lessons. I can do 4 -45 min sessions at Cranston for $200. -
Looking to do a lesson series with video analysis. Preferably V1. Thought the Golfers Warehouse in Cranston had lessons but they do not currently have a pro. Any recommendations in the Rhode Island area?

Going to hit the local golfers warehouse this morning and hopefully they have both of the shoes I am considering. And hopefully I can find a pair on closeout still.
-
I was also considering the FJ Reelfit. Now you have ne undecided.

Appreciate all the feedback. I have been having trouble finding them in store, but will try and find the shox in a standard shoe and match that size.

Am looking at picking up a pair of the Nike Shox golf shoes while they are a great deal. Am wondering what the sizing is like on these. I normally where a 10 regular in a sneaker, but sometimes a 9 1/2 in a dress shoe. I looked at my footjoys the other day and was surprised that they were a 9 1/2 wide. Anyone experience with these and the best fit. They run big? Small? Somewhere in between?

How much are you paying for gas these days?
jforget1 replied to Smallville's topic in The Grill Room
Paid $1.83 this weekend. Filled up my Redgeline for less than $40, was actually a little excited. And got heating oil for $2.08 as well. One perk of a recession. -
I bought the iGolf Neo http://www.igolf.com/ about 3 months ago and have been really happy with it. It does not have all the bells and whistle, but it is small so it fits nicely in my pocket and the price is much better than most out there, $149. There is a subscription of $35 but the nice thing is you get 100 course downloads and once you download them you own them forever. Right now I have downloaded about 25 courses, so just before the year is up I will download any course I may ever want to play and then cancel the renewal. The unit gives you the center, front back and up to 4 other marks per hole, so you might have a right side bunker, water etc for any hole. It is really easy to use and the battery life is phenomenal. They say it can go 4 full rounds on one charge. I have done 9 holes and it still shows 95 or 100%. I highly recommend checking this one out. Great bang for the buck.

I think for me the long putt that drops is the best because it slowly develops and hopefully dramatically drops in there. Hit a nice 50 footer earlier this year and it felt great, wish it would have been for birdie.....baby steps.

Best Disney / Orlando courses
jforget1 replied to golf hungry's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Heading down to Orlando myself in February and am looking to find a decent reasonably priced course. Orange County National seems to be getting good feedback. -
The casual league I played in this summer set the cap at 8, which if a par 3 goes wrong can add up, but it kept play moving.

Best Scoring/Tracking App for iPhone
jforget1 replied to jforget1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
This is good, I do like the looks of the TeeShot app. It is definitely at the top of the pack. Appreciate the feedback. Anyone else use another app out there? -
I have an iPhone 3G and am looking for advice on the best choice out there for an app the will track the score of a round, allow me to track key statistics, and anything else that may be helpful. I want something that will help me learn and improve. Have been researching and have it down to a few early contenders. Although expensive and in the lead is ViewTi G. Costs $40 but it really has some features that are pretty cool. Can bring up a Google map of the hole. Nice if you are on a new course. I am going to write to them to see what they have for courses in my area. Igolfmemoir is free but it is limited in what id does and it needs work. Golf-Ace seemed interesting, have not researched a lot. Costs $20 GolfCard is $7 and seemed like a decent option. Had some good features and good reviews. And to hold the new app, was able to rig up 3 velcro straps on my BagBoy cart. Works perfect for me. Any feedback on this is appreciated. Joe

Paid $2.47 yesterday. I was really psyched. The sign said $2.55 and then to get up to the pump to see that it had dropped .08 was a nice bonus. Just over $50 to fill my Ridgeline was nice. -
Started playing in a casual league this year and have really enjoyed. Getting out there each week has been HUGE to making some progress. Broke 50 for the first time a couple weeks ago. Felt great to hit that landmark. Finally feel like I am making real progress. Playing at Jamestown this year was a lot of fun and a great view. http://www.jamestowngolf.com/

I got a SuperStroke grip about 2 months ago and I really like it. You really do relax all the muscles in the hands and forearms, so you are free of tension, allowing for a smooth stroke. It has helped me and I would highly recommend it.
