  1. I still carry a 2 iron. I love my long irons. I have never liked fairway woods, just can't hit them. I hit my 2 iron 215-220 and have an older Cobra Multi-Metal Baffler 20* hybrid that I had bent to 19* that I can hit 230-240 so I really have no need to a 3 or 4 wood. Have you tried a lower lofted hybrid, like 17* or 18*?
  2. If you want decent equipment for that price you're going to have to go used, which really isn't a big deal because it's all going to be used eventually. Right? And if you're not going to play any more than a few times a year, who really cares if it's new or not. There's a nice set on eBay right now. eBay item #110299277608
  3. I own 1 driver and 15 putters.......
  4. It sounds like you've got it about as good as you're going to get it without refinishing it. You might want to try some mineral oil and 000 steel wool for the rust. But if the bluing is fading you aren't going to get that back without redoing it. If it were mine it was going to sit in a rack, I would send it to BOS to have it refinished. For $50 it will look brand new, noone will even know it's refinished sitting among the rest of your collection. I have a TeI3 Newport that I bought for next to nothing. It was beat up and rusted pretty badly when I got it. I sent it to BOS for their patina oil can and it looks almost brand new (if you look real close, there's an area on the to where the rust pits were pretty deep, but they did a heck of a job on it). The patina oil can with the copper insert looks great.
  5. When I get into a funk with my putting I simply try something different for a while. I may go cross-handed for a few days, or use the claw for a few days, sometimes I'll just putt one handed. Anything to change it up a little. Then I'll take a couple of days off and when I come back I go back to my normal stroke.
  6. Autumn/winter is my favorite time of year to play. The courses are less crowded and a flask full of irish whiskey to help keep you warm can make for some fun golf. Layering is definitely the best way to go. I like the thermal underwear (long johns) made for active sports, usually found in ski shops or the skiing/snowboarding section of most sporting goods stores. Over that I wear a long sleeve golf shirt or mock turtle neck and khakis, maybe a sweater if it's real cold. Then a thin micro fleece 1/4 zip pullover, and a pullover wind breaker and rain pants if it's windy. In colder weather I may put a loose fitting full zip fleece that I can take off easily over that. Something to cover the ears is essential. If it's really cold I'll wear a stocking cap, but a lot of the time they make me sweat too much, so I'll wear an earband over a ball cap. Cart mitts are awesome to wear between shots. And you can tuck hand warmers inside them if needed. As long as there is no snow on the ground I'll be there!
  7. That sure is a lot of golf. My back hurts just reading it. OK, I'm exteremely jealous. Sounds like fun for sure. Enjoy!
