  1. I was playing 2 years ago and I was looking for my ball down by the water. I had to walk around a tree and when I did I noticed a female goose sitting on a nest. I didn't even know it was there and then I look in the water and there is the male goose swimming straight at me with the kinked up neck and next thing I know it starts flying right at my. Buzzes my head and makes a turn like it is coming back at me. I had to take off running. My buddy is in the fairway laughing his ass off as I am retreating from getting dive bombed from a damn goose. LOL. I'm against animal cruelty, but that goose better be happy I didn't have a club in my hand or it was going down.
  2. I would agree. The main difference I see in them is my mishits maintain their distance where as my 52's would die on distance on my mishits and be more than a club short.
  3. I have been looking at them for awhile and I decided to finally pull the trigger. I've had my MP-52's since they came out, so I felt I got my worth out of them. Thanks... lol, I really liked the way they looked and I didn't want to move away from a Forged club but wanted something that was a little more forgiving and still looked good and not like a clunky GI club. I'm happy so far.
  4. Just picked up a set of Mizuno JPX 850 Forged irons.
  5. Not 230 carry, that's with run out. It carries about 200-210 with the 3 wood but I get a alot of roll. I hit it pretty low and it runs. With my driver at 94mph I am carrying about 210-215 & I get 15-20 yards of roll. When I hit one on the screws it occasionally will roll out to 250 but it is few and far between. I know I hit down on the ball, when I try to hit up on the ball I get a 210 yard balloon ball with backspin. But I definetly don't carry it 230 that's with roll Out
  6. So I am always tinkering with something in my game, swing, equipment, shoes, etc. I can't help it, my OCD takes over and I'm off to the races. I have had an issue with hitting my Driver and 3 wood almost as far as each other. I do not hit the ball long. I have an average of 94 mph club head speed with my driver. I carry it about 210-215 and can usually get it to roll out to 235 (thank god I can putt). Anyways, I feel like I have to pound my driver (hard swing almost out of my shoes) to get 240 out of it, but I can pull out my Taylor Made RBZ 3 Wood, and hit it 220 easily off the ground and 230 with a pretty smooth swing off of a tee. I have gone through Multiple Drivers the past 5 years, multiple shafts. I hit the 3 wood so good that I bought the matching driver, and I have/had 6 or 7 different shafts. I hit all of them terrible, straight, but about 210 with no roll out. Last year I go to a Demo Days at a country club my buddy's Dad is the Head Pro at and I hit the Callaway Alpha, Callaway Big Bertha, A Cleveland, Ping G25, Taylormade SLDR, SLDR Mini Driver, and the Titleist D2 & D3. The only one I hit longer than my RBZ was the Titleist and it felt great so after hitting about 70 balls with the D3 and a bunch of different Shafts (I was hitting a nice 240 yard draw over and over again with an Aldila RIP Alpha Stiff Shaft) I bought one. It was an improvement on the RBZ, distance and control wise. But after pounding balls on the simulator all winter long it's pissing me off that I hit the 3 wood almost as far with less effort. So after all that long winded crap, my question to everyone here is this, should I look at maybe going with a Regular Flex shaft with the current driver (maybe more flex and more mph), or do you think there is something to look at with the Taylormade Mini Drivers that are out? My current 3 wood is a 15 degree with the stock Taylormade shaft ( I believe it is a Matrix Ozik or at least a version of it). I have a pretty consistant game and I have an above average short game which keeps me competitive, but it sure would be nice to be hitting 8,9, PW into greens instead of Hybrids and mid Irons. Any feedback is welcome thanks.
  7. If you are at Golfsmith, ask them to create a new golfer profile on the GC2 that they use to ensure the profile doesn't have some exaggerated attributes. A close friend of mine has a GC2 setup in his garage and I play on it 3 times a week in the colder months here in Michigan so I know what my numbers look like on a GC2 that is setup correctly. Within the GC2 you can "boost" a golfer's profile and make the ball go a lot farther than it really is going. Its a dirty trick and my friend found out the hard way with a recent driver purchase. He went to Golfsmith and he is pounding a 2014 model Titleist D2 over 300 yards every single swing. He buys it, gets to my buddies simulator and he is at 275/280. Never even sniffed 300 on his simulator. Fast forward to a couple days later and we go to another Golfsmith and make a comment to one of the guys and he says that their simulators at that store are known to be "enhanced".. My buddy was pretty disappointed he just dropped $300 on a club he hits 5 yards farther than his older model D2. The other thing I will add is you get some phantom shots on the GC2 from what I have seen. I have hit shots that I know 100% are off the toe and will be terrible shots and they end up dead straight and longer than normal. So unless you are using a Trackman, I wouldn't put to much faith in the GC2. I have used it mainly to compare it against my own clubs, and it works great when we are just playing rounds on the simulator and nobody is really caring what your "numbers" are.
  8. Hit it to the distances you can control and are accurate with. If you hit a driver, 5iron, 60wedge and 1 putt, its the same as the driver, 3 wood, 2 putt. I dont hit the ball long at all, and I play alot of par 4's as 3 shot holes. I have spent so much time on my short game that I am confident enough that I can get up and down from 100 and in most of the time ( i dont always, but I am more comfortable doing that then trying to hit a 230 yard three wood accurate). It makes no sense to hit a club you cant control when you have clubs you can control, especially if it is 175 and in. Take yourpar 5, if you are 250 yards from the green on your second, if you hit that 175 club, you are 75 yards out and have a better chance at getting it on and 2 putting for par, or getting it close and making the putt for birdie. Why even entertain the thought of going outside your comfort zone, doesnt seem to be anything to gain? I can tell you this, I play with a bunch of guys that hit it WAY farther than me. My best friend used to compete in long Drive and he will out drive me by 100 yards so times, but he has no short game and I do. I still beat him 90%of the time. It takes mental toughness and will power to stick to your game plan. Who cares what the next guy is doing, play your game, play the golf course. LukeDonald is a great example, short hitter but he plays to his strengths and he spent a year as the world number one.
  9. Guys I play in a golf league, and it is definetly a beer league. We have played the same format the last two years and we are looking to shore up some rules and procedures and I am looking to see what other people have done and get some ideas. We play a 2 man scramble that is match play style against another team and it is handicapped. This is a nine hole league. So basically you take your scramble team score against the other teams scramble score and you either win the hole or lose the hole. Each hole is worth 10 points, a tied hole each team gets 5 points. And the team who won the most holes gets an additonal 10 points, or that 10 can be split if the holes are split. So there is a total of 100 points available each match. We play double par is the worse you can get, but that seems to have issues with the handicapping system sometimes. We have some guys that will intentionally take a double par if they cannot win the hole. We also have issues with subs, or lack there of, and we run into the occasional issue where both players dont show and they dont find subs. So below are a list of issues we have, I would love to hear some feedback from you guys, especially if you have played in a league setup similar to this one. Thanks in advance. 1. Substitutes - We all know everyone cant make each week, but what would be a good policy if you or your partner cant make it and cant find subs? Also, how do you handicap the sub? We had an issue where a team brought a sub and the kid shot par or better and the guy he was subbing for is a 25 or higher handicap for 18 holes. Subs seem to be the big sticking point, we dont have a clear rule on this and I would like to come up with something for it. What is the penalty for not showing up at all? I like the idea of penalizing 100 points, but then another team gets 100 points for doing nothing. 2. Double par rule - Considering this is scramble, I think a double bogey is as much as we should go, thoughts? 3. Handicapping - The lowest you can have is a zero, should we change this to include negative handicaps? We use a 5 previous score rotation, and I can tell you I was a Zero or 1 all year, and when you play a 4 or 5 handicap it is tough to be giving a stroke on almost or over half of your holes in a 9 hole scramble. 4. Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks - Nate
  10. And he is supposed to play next week. If he isnt in a dentist chair right this second and shows up in Doral next week it will be in poor taste IMO.
  11. He told the reporters on the way out that he "was in a bad palce mentally". And then they asked if anything was wrong physically and he said "No". Now the Camp Rory and Nike PR spin o rama machine has a hold of it and it is a wisdom tooth issue. IMO he is having equipment and swing issues and he has to play through it. To disgrace the game like that and walk off is outrageous. Think of the non-exempt guy or Monday qualifier who couldnt play because Rory was in the field. We have all seen the Monday qualifier, or sponsor exempt guy do real well in a tournament. It could have been somebodies big break but Rory didnt want to put up an 80 on the card, so he threw a fit and left. Unacceptable and I hope the PGA puts a hefty fine and I would love to see a suspension. You can;t just have guys walk off becuase you are playing bad. Anyone who plays golf knows you can be lights out on Saturday and not be able to find a fairway on sunday. Thats the great part of the game and he just set a very very poor example for all the young kids who look up to him. Selfish act if you ask me, but opinions are like _____ so flame away if you dont agree with what I typed.
  12. What a baby.... Number one in the world and he walks off because he is playing bad. Nice example he is setting right there. Makes me feel bad for the monday qualifiers and non exempt guys who couldnt play becuase Rory was in the field and he had a temper tantrum and walks off... I used to like Rory..
  13. Taylormade RBZ 4 hybrid, Taylormade RBZ 3 wood, a dozen NXT Tour's, FJ Pure Touch glove, and a driver fitting session. Ended up cutting an inch off my driver. Good day for sure.
  14. Titleist NXT Tour for me. Really like the way the ball feels off the club face and I like the performance. I want to try a Top Flite Gamer V2 this year, I hear and read good things about them.
  15. take it to a reputable shop and you should have no issue. There are very few people who fit perfectly into a set of off the shelf irons. I would recommend getting them fitted. good luck and congrats on the purchase.
