  1. Eh, stuff happens you gotta be able to let it go. Dwelling on things like that your just banging your head against a wall. If You had reset, and stroked it instead of hitting the shank this thread wouldnt exist. SO you hit a bad shot, big deal, make a save shot and move on.
  2. Im my own worse enemy. I have more mental issues than I do physical ones. I cant shake off bad shots or bad holes. If I come out and put up a double on the first hole, its a solid bet I wont break 90, and maybe not even 100. Im way too competitive for this game, or at least competitive in the wrong way. On the other hand when I stay calm, Im likley to shoot low 80s, high 70s.
  3. Im pretty good with my wedge around the green so Im going to go with small greens. I would rather bump an 8 iron, or hit a wedge to the pin and attempt an 8 foot or less putt, than attempt a 40' putt that breaks 4 times. This is all void if theres tons of traps, which im not that great out of.
  4. I played with a Bridgestone Ball rep the other day, he said that most of the pros have disliked the new Pro V since they had to make changed from the callaway lawsuit. Im not sure if he was talking about this one of the model before this though.
  5. You should try Vegas where your not allowed to walk anywhere at anytime. personally I dont think carts should be allowed unless your handicapped.
  6. I dont but my stepdad prefers to play with persimmon woods. He will slice a titanium driver or 3 wood all day but can hit the old ones straight.
  7. I agree to a certain extent. The driver is the only club in my bag that can really sneak up and bite me most of the time. If I misshit a 7 iron chances are I just need to hit a recovery shot. The Driver is the only club that will really go out of wack, such as Ob shots, and those really hurt.
  8. Im going to go buy a 909f2 15.5 3 wood this week. Im going to go to one wood and add and extra hybrid to replace my 5 wood.
  9. On most courses I play whatever box is right in front of the tips. But it depends on the course I ussually try to stay in between 62-6700 yards. So I may move up or back depending how long the course is. Im also a big advocate of playing where your partners are though. I have the distance to play the tips on almost any course, but Im also not so good to think im above moving up if my partners are playing from there. Just seems like a rude move to play from the back if your buddies wanna play from the white.
  10. When I really started to see big drops in my score it was because I got good around the green with my wedge. I set up a little chipping net in my living room and hit balls into it for the better part of a year while I was watching TV, or any meanial task. Im pretty genius with my 60* these days and I think thats the biggest reason Im getting close to a single digit handicap. Its not how many greens or fairways I hit. Its the fact that because I trust my wedge when I miss the green on my approach shot I can put the ball close enough to the pin with my wedge to give myself a realy strong chance at saving par. Note that I use the term genius in relation to other amatuer golfer, not compared to phil mickelson
  11. I have one that I keep around for when I walk the local par 3 course on occasion. But Ive also noticed that when I play courses that have real walking caddies (not forecaddies) they keep bags around that are little more than sunday bags for people that are inconsiderate and bring huge overloaded bags then expect the caddie to walk 18 with two of those on their shoulders.
  12. I dont so much have the problem on good shots, my issue is on semi bad shots. I have a bad habit of looking away as soon as I know the shot isnt doing precisly what I want it to. So often Ill struggle to find an offline ball that should be perfectly playable.
  13. No, and the idea of banning kahki cargo shorts in ridiculous. Spyglass Hill was more than happy to have me wearing cargo shorts, and if its good enough for a course on the damned 17 Mile Drive it should be good enough for anywhere
  14. I agree its fun, my only issue thus far is so many people have such similar line ups. I suppose that will change alot later in the season when people have to be more frugal with their starts since each player is only good for 10. And considering the limited field in this event.
  15. Im gonna say Iron just for the sole fact that Ive hit my driver before felt like a struck it absolutely pure and then watched it slice into oblivion. When I strike an iron absolutely pure Im pretty sure of where its going.
  16. Its definetely not incorrect, Im not saying they gloves arent intended to help with control from sweaty palms. But you cant tell me that having leather wrapped around your hand isnt going to protect it from blisters. Especially to new players. While I have callas' (sp?) built up on my hands now because Ive played 200 rounds in the last year and a half when I first started playing I struggled with blisters often when I tried to play without a glove. This is compounded by the fact that alot of beginner players grip too hard. A single piece of equipment can be used as a means to more than one end. I hit 160 yard shots, and 12 yard shots with my 8 iron.
  17. I agree with the above sentiments as to stick with large reputable sellers on ebizzle. Ive bought several things and never had an issue, save for some shipping problems once. But all purchases were from sellers that had reputations coming out their ears
  18. The point is so it doesnt shred your hands. I always use one on my left hand. Occasionally when Im playing horrendous Ill take it off and play without it just to switch something up. But I think thats more of a mental thing just because I feel i need something to change. But I also think it serves a small purpose because I cant swing quite as hard without it, so I slow down a little and that may help. Ill also occasionally play a round without spikes on for the same reason if I have been struggling. To the point of the glove protecting against blisters and whatnot, I dont have that much of a problem with it in a round. But when I practice and Im just pounding balls for an extended period of time I definetely have issues with blisters. And If I have to practice with it Im going to use it in the round too just because it would feel wrong otherwise
  19. My buddies wife plays and I go out as a single more often than not so Ive played with my fair share of women. Go heavy on the woods. If your going to pick one part of the bag to pay special attention to buy nice woods. Almost all amatuer women that Ive seen dont hit down on the ball nearly as hard as their male counterparts so they do much better with the sweeping swing of a 7 wood than they would with a 4 iron.
  20. lol you sorta pegged part of my personality in that first statement, Im pretty anti-social. Its an idmitted character flaw. But even though I tend to dislike more than 50% of the population I dont begrudge them. I just dont hang out with them when can be avoided. On the golf course I smile, and shake hands, and try to enjoy the day. Almost everyone is nice, I jsut dont share senses of humor and taste with most people. Maybe thats why I preach tolerance on tastes, because if I thought like alot of people in this thread I would absolutely hate everyone. At any rate Im done arguing. For one, its all for naught. Its not like PGA officials are reading this thread and saying "Hey that star wars dork has some solid points. We should rethink our point of views." Or vice versa for that matter. And its not like anybody who has argues passionately for either side is going to do a 180 and support the other. Most of us even if the other argument got through probbaly arent that big. Myself included. I just hope that maybe someone reading who was on the fence about the subject, agreed with me and got swayed. Thinking, you know what hes right I would rather play golf with the naked man whos friendly and plays fast, as opposed to the guy wearing cashmere who treats everyone like a leper, and makes the round last 5 hours.
  21. I can argue because I just dont think that being respectful or "appropriate" has ANY effect on dress in any reasonable manner. I use the term reasonable because yes I would concur that someone wearing a shirt in public that says "**** You Mother" in it is disrespectful and involutarily offensive. just like poor personal hygiene would be. While we should be able to respect a persons difference in clothing taste, horrid body odor is involuntarily offensive. We just have different opinions on what being respectful is I guess. You think its how someone looks. Or at least thats a large part of it. I say how someone looks has almost nothing to do with it. I say its how someone acts, and treats their peers. As far as the work thing goes I chose not to get into it, but I feel the same way. I think I should be able to go to work dressed however I want with my nametag on. But I would still wear the suit anyway even if I got my rule change because I like my suits and I think they look nice. Funny part about all this is for the most part what were are arguing about is guys wearing jeans and t-shirts on the course. Cause face it that would be the biggest change if there were no dress codes. Well thats the choice of casual clothing for probably 75% of the population, and thats a conservative guess. Isnt that a bit elitist? If 3 out of 4 people want to be in my foursome they have to change their ways to conform with my beliefs EDIT Because I forgot a point I wanted to make, and I have to go to work so this is my last point. No I dont think you have a problem with people with tattoos, hardly anybody does once your in person. But thats thing most people are inherintly good, and if they are stuck with you even though they may have formed preconcieved notions about you based on any number of differences you may have from them, you will win them over in a very short time almost inevitably. If I kept track of compliments to rebukes over my ink it would be somewhere in the 1000-2 range over a period of probably 6 years. Again I stress that I do dress just like most of you guys on the golf course so its not myself im protecting. I just respect people rights to where what they want and go where they want to go while wearing it. What I do have a problem with are Preconceived Notions. Forming an opinion of someone before you even know them. And thats what dress codes protect, and thats why Im against them. Dress codes put consumers, and peers in situations where the people surrounding them look just like they are "supposed to" Its a false reality, and it stops people from realizing that theres good people out there from all walks of life. You could put me in a foursome with a south american headhunter in a grass skirt. While I might be intimidated at first, if he treated me friendly, and played the game well we would be friends by the turn. Let someone suprise you with kindness for a change
  22. Oh thats what happened, I started watching basketball and missed the last few holes. After looking at everyone elses 4 somes Im not sure how far im going to jump. I have similar set-ups to alot of the people I need to pass
  23. No I dont know whats appropriate because someone else's clothing has, your guessed it, ABSOLUTELY ZERO, effect on your golf game. So why would it be inappropriate if its not affecting you one bit. And if you say well I jjust dont think I could play well with someone who doesnt look the same as me, well then thats just horrid. And no Im not stetching it because many peoples lifestyle outside the course (such as ink, and piercings) would be visible on the course, and thus subject to persecution as you put it. And again no I wouldnt be ashamed of myself for looking like its laundry day, because Im not judging if another human being has the right to be in my presence based on the way they are dressed. I could live just fine with dressing poorly, however I would hate myself for being a bigot. Everytime I think the human race as a whole and America specifically is really getting its act together and being tolerant of everyone I run into a barrier like this.
  24. Even though all my players put up solid rounds today , 67, 68, 70 , 70 two of them (weekley and reavie) put up multiple bogeys in the home stretch. At least Adam Scott birdied 18. I dont know how the scores are calculated, but I think my rounds today should be good enough to put me in the top 10. I finished with 38 points yesterday in a tie for 12th.
  25. As long as theres nothing on TV.... Seriously though the last part of that had me rolling for a good long while, genius stuff.
