That's wonderful! I'm actually watching some show on the Golf Channel right now about the First Tee program. Some of those kids are truly amazing. Not just their golfing ability but the way that they approach life as well. As far as lessons, I wouldn't "force" anything on her. Just let her choose everything on her own. I think that group lessons are good for kids because they get to spend time with kids around their own age, etc., and it's more fun to them. However, personal lessons offer 1-on-1 instruction and therefore could offer her what she needs. I wish her, you guys, the best!

AMEN to that! It's really cold out here in OH. This morning it was like -20* and it was even worse yesterday morning! I can't take it anymore. I told my girlfriend and some of my family that I'm really considering buying a home in Southern Georgia or something. Maybe in Augusta? I spend A LOT of time and money on my yard, landscaping, etc.. I get mad when my Pugs poop in my yard or if there's a blade of grass that's taller than the others, etc., BUT, I'll take my weed wacker and hack down a fairly large area just so that I can hit balls. Out of everything on T.V. and the thousands of movies out there, my T.V.'s are set on the Golf Channel 99% of the time, or the channel that the majors, etc., are on.

I have to agree with you 110% on this one. It seems like everyone is concerned with what an LPGA player looks like rather than what she does for the game.

I have a Titleist Players towell (for clubs/shoes), a Memorial towell (for balls) and even carry one of those Ball-Zees.

I love watching both as well. However, I really enjoy watching Euro golf. The Euro commentators seem like they're more, ummm, "interested" in the game. They're so "soft spoken" that you can easily fall into a trance. I was a lot of motorcycle racing as well and the same goes for it. The Euro commentators get so much more excited when someone makes a pass or gets their first win, etc..

I'm still in shock. I can't believe that she announced her retirement earlier this year. She's done so much for the game and has one of the best personalities in golf. I think that she'll be back. If she doesn't return full-time she'll definately play in the majors or selected tournaments. She can't just leave! She's a legend!

Mr. Nicklaus, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Player, Ms. Lopez/Mrs. Knight, Mr. Trevino and many more. I can't pick just one.

I absolutely love them! I used to play with (still have them) the older SM's and loved them too but with the new soles they're more workable than they've ever been. I especially like the way they play out of the bunker(s).

A Few Titleist Club Questions
OHgolfnut replied to bogeyhitter25's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It all depends on what model of the PT's you're talking about. I think Tiger carried an old PT for a very long time. IMO, the older models were targeted to the single digit handicaps, the newer models are more forgiving, etc.. As for double digit putters, sure, you can find one there in that range. You probably won't find a Scotty there in that range. However, again, IMO, just be patient and keep looking on eBay, etc.. You MAY get lucky and find an older Scotty in your price range! -
I might have to agree with you on this one.

Ahhhhh, the classic Vokey name...they could be displayed in the Louvre. Anyways, if your local store doesn't have them in stock just ask them to order one for you. They may get some in stock, depending on the demand for them in your area. However, certain lofts/bounce may be special order only. I have the new SM's and their amazing. If you pick one or more up, you'll love them.

Hacker's a bad, bad word...haha. Perhaps...golfer? We're all golfers but in my mind a "player" could be anyone...a single digit handicap or a double digit, that actually respects the game and abides by the rules, has great course management, knows his/her yardages on the dot, controls their temper!!!, and so on.

I'm sure that you already know about this, but...I got on UPS' website and they have a claim process that you can go through. I tried to copy and paste the link but it wasn't working for me, sorry. That's a shame. The sad thing is, they'll probably try to fight it claiming that they didn't do anything, etc.. Good luck with everything!

Oh, man...what a topic... I can't stand anyone who acts so foolish. It's pathetic. Getting angry, blaming everyone and everything but themselves. I won't play with anyone who acts such a way(s). Ummmmm...wasn't it Jay Williamson at Q-School this year who acted like a little 2 year old? That guy doesn't deserve to have his card.

It HAS to be Caddyshack 2. Now, it doesn't have Knight, Murray, etc., in it BUT...I think that it was a good movie. Anyone like Saw?

In all honesty, I don't care for soccer. But hey, each person has their likes and dislikes, so be it. I guess the Columbus Crew did pretty good this year (I live near Columbus, OH). However, I was flipping through the channels earlier and there happened to be a soccer tournament on. I don't have a clue who was playing but it caught my attention. I have to give those guys credit. I mean, they run around for a set period of time, back-n-forth, here-n-there...they HAVE to be in superb physical shape. Heck, I'd probably make one lap down the field and pass out.

Yeah, I was thinking long term as well. BTW...I've heard about and seen commercials for that Mad Money. Well, today, I decided to watch the show (it's on now). This guy, Jim...WHOA! lol, he probably drinks like 12 cups of coffee and drinks a case of Red Bull's before he goes on air.

Illinois Govenor Taken Into Federal Custody
OHgolfnut replied to jonanthans's topic in The Grill Room
Suuuuure! I think that he's like the 4th Governor (JUST in IL) out of what, the past 8-9, that's abused his position in a similar manner. It's sad that someone in his position would abuse his "power". Just a shame. I guess that he's innocent until proven guilty, eh? -
HAHA! What a coinkidink...I was going to say the same thing. I don't think that Scotty would appreciate that very much.

Well, here's what I found out so far: I spoke to a reputable advisor today. She said that the best thing to do now would be to invest in a long term CD(s) or something, which would still gain a profit. From opening the CD(s) to the end of the CD(s) term, keep a very close eye on the market and study "this and that". Then, IF the market is looking good, take the investments from the CD's and invest in the market. So, I guess that I have a lot of thinking (AND reading...thanks DaveLeeNC for suggesting some good books. I'll have to see if I can get a hold of those.) to do. I could always do that but still take like a small amount of what I have set aside to invest, and throw that small amount in the market. Just to take that chance.

I wouldn't say that I'm "into" the R/C stuff BUT...I used to live on a lake and actually had a gas powered R/C boat. Those things were/are pretty fun! A close friend of mine actually races these things (R/C stuff) professionally.

Thanks again for your input. I actually picked up the December issue of "Money" magazine. I think that it's a really good issue. They're actually talking about what we're talking about. Buffett was actually talking about buying stocks at a fraction of the cost, and so on. I could be wrong, but I think that I read something a while back about a "melt down" in I think it was '73...? Something like a 40% loss...? It took like 3 1/2 years just to get back to where they first started, and then the profit(s) "took off". Like I said, like you said, I/we're young. Even if there is a economic crisis in the market, or whatever, even if it takes 20 years, I'm sure that it'd be worth it. Granted, a person who's older than we are may be worried about investing now. Most of them are like "Sell...sell...sell" but...you can't think like that. This may be off topic, but, say "you" break your neck, or your arm or something, or had some major surgery..."you" wouldn't expect to be back to tip-top shape the next day now would "you"...no, it'd take time. Although "you'd" be in a lot of pain, "you'd" be thinking to "yourself" "It's going to take some time but I'll be OK", it just takes some time to heal. Again, look at '29. Everyone thought the world was going to end. Some people hung in there and those people were probably glad they did.

Nope, no debt or house payment, etc.. That's why I want to invest. I heard the same thing about stocks being on "sale". Say you pick up a few and then 10-20 years from now they sky rocket. That wouldn't be a bad investment, eh? I do know that a lot of people do freak out during bad times. BUT, they knew that the market has it's ups-n-downs and although it may take a few years to get back on track, it'll get back on track.

Hello everyone, I'm not sure if a topic like this has been posted yet. If it has, I'm sorry for making another topic. I tried searching but didn't find anything. OK...where do I begin? I'm 26 years old and have a few K to play around with. Anyways, I've done some research online and got a lot of different opinions. At this time in the economy, should i consider investing in the stock market? Mutual Funds?.....retirement? What are the basics of the market? Blue-Chip stocks, etc.? I'm clueless, sorry. Or should I consider some other method of investing? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!
