A couple made up rules I see over and over are 1. If you duff off the first Tee...you get a freebe 2. One free Mulligan per side. Generally, I don't care if they do it. If it makes the round more enjoyable for them I can overlook the kick out of the rough after they've take two or three hacks at it already. With that said, as soon as they want to play for money, drinks, or whatever, those rules don't fly. However, in general, I find players that want to play for a prize, keep the rules (at least when everyone is looking)

Fortunaltly, in the last few year I have trained all those around me to just get me a gift card to our local golf store.

Have you read this thread? And I'm the one out of line?? And then you come in here and trash me as well when I've done nothing to you at all. You all talk about having civil discourse and in the same breath call me some sort of name and I'm not to defend myself??? Heck, there are posts on this thread from members that said not one thing about GPS but to come on an attack me. Get real. I'm the bad guy cause a few sensative people have nothing better to do with their time and "tell the teacher". Wow. What kind of place is this? From 120 yards in my wedges are gold. I'd rather be withing 6 feet than 12+. I rarely use any distance device, but from my experiance, those that I know, and the majority of other posts on this topic, Rangefinders seem to have an edge. I guess cause I have an opinion I should be called names without repercustions, only to face some when I defend the comments. Grow up people. -
I agree...but there are a lot of "club makers" out there that shovel off POS irons and try to pass them off as custom designs.

IN MY OPINION (apprently I need disclaimers stating so, or I get jumped on)The isssue with buying non-brand name clubs is the resale value. They are worth virtually nothing as soon as you take them. As an equipment nut I like buying new equipment every couple/few years and sell my old stuff.

We all have those inlaws, coworkers, etc that are trying to be nice and buy you a golf related gift. What is the most useless golf related gift that you have gotten that is still sitting in its original packaging years later gathering dust?

I especially love the direct quote from the moderator about yourself, YogiTKE "In my opinion, you're an ignorant boob who's done more name-calling and foul-mouthing in one post than I've done in the past year. Oh, but "check your feelings at the door." http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13562 -

I guess you missed the 84 customer reviews posted within the last year. Real golfers who have uses the system. Maybe your attention span only got you as far as the date on the top of the review. I guess the seven posts your got on your own threads about GPS was enough information for you. I didn't think the amount of posts limited my ability to have discussion and criticize. You're entire year of membership obviously gives you the digression to be equally an A SS and hand out the criticism. Also, maybe refer to what the moderators talked directly to you about multiple threads with the same topics. I believe it was actually in a thread YOU STARTED that was CLOSED?!? I can't actually believe you quoted something about "Freedom of Speach" and come and attack me. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13562 Pot calling the kettle? Get a life, friend, and move on and go start a third thread on GPS to add to your post count you bloody hypocrite. It's such a shame everyone's panties get in a bunch over a little manly ribbing. Quit taking yourselves so seriously. -
Anyone watch the "Celebrity Apprentice" with Natalie?
Riverologist replied to PEZGolf's topic in Tour Talk
Natalie is not as hot as I thought standing next to Brandie. -
Grant Fuhr was when he was here in Calgary. He would bring out a few of the Flames now and then. They would sit and play $500 to $1000 skins.

This would make a great poll.....who's wife is understanding when it comes to golf. My wife is great and doesn't mind me golfing at all. I buy new equipment regularly and play nice courses. All of our vacations involve at least a round/day. She hits the spa, goes shopping and I hit the links. For 90% of my golfing buddies, it's a different story. I feel sorry for any man who marries a controlling bit ch who says no, just to say no.

Best Course you are planning on playing in 2009?
Riverologist replied to chriskzoo's topic in Golf Talk
I love mountain courses and try to make it too these every season. http://www.kananaskisgolf.com/ http://www.tricklecreek.com/ I usually combine trickle with Kimberley and Bootleg gap, two equally nice mountain setting courses. -

Denver, not sure what thread you were reading. Pretty sure I was called a Noob, a troll, bullshitter, an Ass and a liar, first. I made one comment on how everyone seems to have the sensitivities of a woman AFTER being called those names. If they can't take my tone, they take themselves wayyyy to seriously to be on any sort of open forum. Included yourself. How you got the conclusion that what I said (or what anyone says on here for that matter) is 100% factual is beyond me. I never claimed such, you guys claimed I did. I didn't think I needed a disclaimer at the end of all my posts. -

I never once claimed anything as fact. Of course its my opinion, you dolt. As for civil discourse, go reread your own posts. You didn't post one comment to the actual discussion of the topic of this thread, simply just attack me for my tone. Who is the sad individual? -
Pings are garbage. Period.

Rangefinders give more more precise distance. With a GPS, do you know exactly were the person mapping out the course took the measurement from? A 6-9 foot difference is a difference between a par and a birdie. What would you rather have? PLUS, how many times have you gotten up to the flag that said it was in the middle but was closer to the back or front? I was specifically referring to when one person in a group has a distance device, everyone else wants yardages too. I've been behind groups like this many times. What about the first and only time you play a course on vacation/travel? Not sure why anyone would really need any device on their own goat track. I know ever distance and bounce (like I'm sure many do). -

Coles Notes Version on GPS/Rangefinder gathered from the thousands of other posts already on here. Hope this saves you the time of using the search feature. 1. GPS are for Choppers. Great for blind distances when these hackers are stuck in the bush 30 yards deep. 2. Rangefinders are for "Players" seeking pins. (See my other thread to see if you are a player or a chopper) 3. Handheld GPS slow play down. All your hacker friends will want to know their yardages (as if it matters) 4. GPS are never dead on yardages. 5. GPS are non reliable on overcast days and reading are never imediate. 6. Rangefinders are better value. No subsciptions or downloads 7. Rangefinders find distances to hazards/bunkers not programed into the GPS unit. Pretty sure that covers it. THREAD CLOSED -

Sand wedge from the fairway
Riverologist replied to Want2PlayMore's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Close your stance slightly and play the ball more back in your stance for wedge and chip shots. I open my stance and I play it in line with my back heal (could be different for yourself). Play around and find where the club is at the bottom of it's arch and will hit the ball first. If you want a great read on short game I suggest Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible. With that said, being a 30+ index, I assume you don't have a consistent or correct swing. Spend the money and take lessons. I did a few years back and have every year since and I went from shooting 110+ down to low 80's, high 70's. -
There are only about a million free handicap calculators out there.
