  1. I play the 09 SM Vokeys and love them. They are great off the fairway and around the greens. They absolutely shred ProV1s and give you so much spin. I also would recommend Cleveland CG12s. They are about equal, but I just loved the classic look that Titleist makes.
  2. I bought an oil cloth for my Circa 62. I wipe it down with a normal dry cloth and then with the oil cloth. It keeps the finish pretty nice. I just got my putter but want to keep it in excellent shape so I can use it forever. I would definitely recommend getting it.
  3. I have the 19 degree 585 in stiff flex. I love the feel of it. The ball flight is great and it goes pretty straight. The nike is a great club, but I would have to recommend the 585 based on my experience. I really enjoy playing Titleist products after recently getting a Scotty Cameron and Vokey Wedges.
  4. I live in southern maryland. If you are close to DC i would recommend the drive to a course called Swan Point in Issue, MD, which is approx 45 miles from the metro area. It is rated top 10 in Maryland and has a very pinehurst type feel. Price is less than $50 now and it is definitely a steal. Another nice course is Potomac Ridge in Accoceek, MD which is very close to DC, maybe 25 miles. It is a very highly rated course. I have also heard great things about Maryland National in Middletown, MD. I've heard Renditions is a pretty fun course too. It is pretty nearby DC as well. I don't know how challenging they'll be for you since you are a +3.6, but I know you will enjoy them. Swan Point is my favorite course apart from the courses i played in Pinehurst. So the my list is: Swan Point Maryland National Potomac Ridge Renditions
  5. I use the #3 and it is the best putter I have owned. It sets up nicely and just feels so pure. I think either way you would be extremely satisfied. I give one vote to the #3.
  6. I currently use the 2007 TaylorMade Burner 10.5 stiff flex. However, I do not own this driver, I am borrowing it from a friend. I saw the Tour Burner for $150 and wasn't sure whether or not to purchase it, being that I would like to get a new driver. I hit it at Dick's Sporting Goods today and had good launch numbers. Any thoughts on the driver, and is it a good deal?
  7. Driver - 135 (Tour Burner 9.5, i haven't gotten this club yet but i will by summer) Hybrid - 52 (585h) mint condition on Ebay Irons - 200 (Ben Hogan BH-5) new from Rockbottomgolf Wedges - 120 (09 Vokey SM 54, 58) new Putter - 135 (SC Circa 62 #3) new Bag - 60 (Ben Hogan Mystique) new from Rockbottomgolf Total = 702 But at least now i have a respectable putter, wedges, hybrid, and driver. Before i was using an exclusive Ben Hogan brand for each and did not perform well at all. I guess golf equipment is expensive, but I find it to be a fun investment.
  8. I really like my Ben Hogan BH-5. The sole on it is as small as i've seen for a game improvement iron and the cavity looks very classy. You can get that for around 150 or less. They hit very solid and would definitely be something you can improve with.
  9. can you post pics? sounds like a cool idea, i would definitely like to customize my irons as well.
  10. I am going on a trip for spring break to golf and want to be prepared while on the course. Currently I carry balls, tees, ball markers, pitch mark repair tools, a club brush, a towel, and a scotty cameron oil cloth for cleaning my putter after the round. Any other suggestions for accessories I can use in my bag? One thought I have is to get a brush to clean the soft spikes on my shoes since they get dirty easily. Does anyone use any other on course accessories?
  11. Hey everyone. I play Ben Hogan BH-5 Irons 3-PW (not the offset version). I am about an 18 handicap but my scores are getting lower. Are these clubs suitable for improvement or would i be better off upgrading to a more mid handicap club. I hit these really well and have good control of my long, mid, and short irons. My gut feeling is to stick with them because even though they are cavity backs, they have the thinnest sole of any game improvement club i've seen and they have a very clean look. I would appreciate feed back.
  12. Oh I forgot my favorite club i got. Scotty Cameron Circa 62 #3 for $135 brand new. Feels much better than my old Ben Hogan Hawk Putter!!
  13. I got: Orange Ping G10 Hat for $5. Black Callaway Glove for $3. Ecco Hydromax shoes for $50 (My favorite Purchase of the Year so far) I also got a pair of Adidas Tour Traxion II Black Shoes for $35. And i just got a pair of the new 2009 Titleist Spin Milled Vokey Wedges (54 and 58) for $120 brand new. I always end up spending my money on golf equipment. :/
  14. Vijay Singh is a great golfer. I don't think he is popular on tour because of his demeanor and because of his mentality. He is, in my opinion, the hardest working top tour professional. I hope he continues to set an example for his fellow countrymen and inspire others to play golf (myself included).
  15. They might be soon, which is a shame. All the clubs in my bag are Ben Hogan and I learned how to play using them. All the Apex series irons are great.
